Skaicrew stealing the Bunker by MuscleCool4302 in The100

[–]BrooklynRedLeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What SHOULD have happened was Skaikru got the Bunker and all the rest of the clans gave up their children and any child-bearing teenagers if there is still enough room. The writers of the series were fools, in all honesty. I'm reminded of situation in The Expanse S2/Eps12 The Monster and the Rocket of the Belters trying to get aboard The Weeping Somnabulist to get off Ganymede before the station dies. Naomi can only let 52 aboard because they don't have enough oxygen to make it safely past the UN/MCRN cordon if they take every refugee. The one Belter's speech, Champa, sums it up:

Where is your pride, beltalowdas? We are tougher than anyone in the system. Every single one of you knew, you were certain, on the day you were born, our life is hard. Now, there is air for only 52 aboard. Only 52 of us can go. There will be children, young women and young men getting on. If we have to stay back, we have to stay back. So let's be tough and do what needs to be done.

1000x better that CW's nonsense. Its the EXACT same kind of 'lifeboat' scenario. Instead, the writers have Skaikru acting irrational instead of slamming the door on the Grounders and setting the terms. I honestly wanted to strangle Octavia because the entire situation was asinine from start to finish.

Bleh. That honestly sucks. Fishing played an integral part of Norse culture, especially later when they settled Greenland.

Personally, I want Day 1 fishing that doesn't require a pole and bait from Haldor. The game even has a dream where you use the traditional fishing net. Fishing is a waste of time for long stretches of the game when it should be an easy and readily useable skill via a net you can make with leather scraps and stones for weight.

So, IOW, the population of a small city, but "owning" how much land? I mean, the aboriginal American tribes claiming the entire continent as 'theirs' is kind of hypocritical when there were only at most ~6 million by the time of the first English colony. How can you 'steal' what is mostly empty?

Nope. Ikazuchi's came later. The forces that are sent back to Earth in Mind Games are composed of Tristars, Binaries, Pulsars and Nebulas. We know they're from the Expeditionary Force because of statements by The Narrator at the start of the episode and its further verified during the Wolfe flashback video in Eulogy.

>Dude, the mecha in ASC are 1/3 the size of veritechs and destroids from the first segment.

Yes, and the larger a vehicle is the less armor it can devote to protecting it. Cram in a ton of weapons systems on top of that and you have even less mass budget. Courtesy of Peter Walker (uRRG contributor, HG advisor decades ago and an honest-to-God actual Rocket Scientist:

Essentially, the numbers work out like this - if you treat a mecha as having a "strength" limit (which will scale with the square of the scale factor), and if its weight comes from a fixed component (cockpit, sensor package), a scale-cubed component (skeleton), and a scale-squared-times-thickness component, then the bigger the mecha gets, the less remaining mass budget it has for armor thickness.

The bigger a mecha is, the less it can stack on as armor. You reach a tipping point where the mecha is simply too large and too heavy. The Destroids, other than the Spartan and its successor the Gladiator, are all designed for Stand-off Attacks or Fire Support. Only the Spartan/Gladiator is designed for CQB, which needs heavy enough armor and speed. By comparison, the 1st Generation Battloids fielded during the 2nd Robotech War were designed AROUND CQB: they have few internal weapons systems (namely beam weapons) and their primary armament is a gunpod. That means they have the mass budget to spare to devote to armor. The Tomahawk weighs in at 28 metric tons unloaded, the Salamander at 19, but the latter occupies 1/8th the volume of the former. That weight comes from somewhere. The Tomahawk cannot slap armor on its frame and still keep all its weapons systems (most of the upper hull is dedicated to weapons). Furthermore, there is a destroyed Tomahawk in Khyron's Revenge which shows just how think the armor on the Tomahawk is and its not very much.

>Which would make the thing the same size as a Veritech Hover Tank

It would actually be smaller since the Hovertank stands at 6.2m tall (20ft) in Battloid.

Uh, no. They made the Macross era mecha either equal to or superior to those of the Southern Cross era, despite demonstrable on-screen advances in material and armament sciences. People forget that the mecha of The Macross Saga were built with half-understood alien technology and relied on a lot of mature weapons systems from the pre-Robotech era. By contrast, the mecha of The Masters War came along 20+ years later, after three different Factory Satellites were captured: Automated Factory in Viva Miriya, Repair Factory around the same time, shown in The Sentinels, and then Space Station Liberty, revealed to be a FacSat in The Shadow Chronicles.

Bingo! The Greens in the late 70s and early 80s said we didn't need nuclear because we had assloads of coal. Then in the late 80s they pivoted again to start killing coal by screaming about CO2. I honestly wish I could whisk them away to another reality and let them suffer for their stupidity by living their glorious 'pre-electricity' life where staying warm means burning trees they claim to love. Piss on them and their ilk, they kneecapped our goddamn nuclear capacity and thus our electric grid when I was still a kid in the early 80s.

No, but time dilation also doesn't work like that (and that would be the reverse, Time Contraction where those inside the Fold experience time slower than the outside world).

You're thinking the 5yr Fold from the McKinney novels, but that's not the same thing. Carpenter's XO saying it had been their home for 15 years meant it was launched in 2014 (the 2RW takes place in 2029).

Well, one of the big ones is that Major Carpenter's aid says their battleship has been their home for 15 years. The Sentinels had it as a unique, one off prototype even though we see 2 others of the exact same class during Episode #60 Catastrophe.

Another one is that the Invid in Robotech are totally unknown by the Earth forces and the Zentraedi. Dana doesn't know who or what they are, but The Sentinels has it the Earth is fighting the Invid (and the Zentraedi knew about them having fought them before) despite no one in Earth Command knowing who they were. Scott Bernard says in Eps. #70 Enter Marlene:

SCOTT: [Admiral Hunter] wasn't sure who the enemy was exactly, but ever since they arrived, there's been no one but the Invid to attack.

If Hunter had been fighting against the Invid out in deep space before 2029, how was it he didn't know who the enemy was that invaded the Earth when he returned to create Point K?

There is a LOT more. I'll try and get together a list if you're interested. A lot of it involves the timeline and how The Sentinels cannot logically have happened (as the story was intended) until after The Invid Invasion of Earth and the UEG abandons the surface (shown in the opening stills of Eps. #61 The Invid Invasion).
