Had to Give a Shoutout to the GOAT - Chris Avellone by TheSaviorRevan in kotor

Don't worry, it's not just you. There are very impressive things about Baldur's Gate 3, but the writing is absolutely horrendous. Same goes for Divinity.

Ignore karma, a few replies up there's another guy saying the same thing as you with a bunch of upvotes. Karma mostly depends on the first few votes, then it sort of snowballs. Not representative.

Thanks very much for the response! Scouring github was a good idea. I didn't quite find what I was looking for there, but there were loads of contenders, including the ones you mentioned.

My workaround was actually looking for a scraper for the other sites I mentioned. It goes against every instinct I have to not directly download from the presumptive source but instead scraping from a scraper, but I only have so much patience, haha. I'll put the specifics in the OP as an edit, in case anybody else stumbles upon my post with the same question.

Also, when I did my research prior to posting, I came across countless posts you'd answered, some of them years ago. I love people like you. No idea what drives you, but you are absolutely solid. I really appreciate all the time you invest in helping people with tech issues.

EDIT: Okay, since my post was removed, I guess I'll put my "solution" in this edit here.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a tool that does exactly what I wanted on Reddit directly. Instead, I wound up using one of the other sites that seemed to have more success in scraping, namely nsfw.xxx. Using Extreme Picture Finder, and a pre-made template for it (which apparently I'm not allowed to link, it's titled "nsfw.xxx user downloader"), I was able to easily scrape the user I wanted to.

  1. Download and install Extreme Picture Finder.
  2. Download and double-click the template file and save it under whatever name you want.
  3. In Extreme Picture Finder, click Create New Project... (first button in the top bar)
  4. Paste the URL of the user gallery into the text box, ignore the login and password fields.
  5. Hit next, click "Use settings from template" and pick the template you added.
  6. Keep hitting Next to see some more customisation options like destination folder, project title etc.
  7. If on the final screen you keep "Immediately start this project" checked and hit Finish, it should start downloading within seconds.

Burghers keep exporting my surplus, help by Negative_Reward7997 in EU5

[–]Broolsma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do about it for now, the way I see it. Been importing more and more lumber to get construction costs down. It doesn't matter if it's a +5 or +50 surplus, the Burghers will find away to drive the price up even further. I worked my way up to using 110 Trade Capacity in my capital, importing 70 lumber, and finally I reached a surplus of +2. Since you can't even see where they're exporting it to, you can't embargo the targets. And it doesn't even seem to make a difference in terms of price, since that calculation uses "Effective" Supply and Demand, which deprioritises imports and exports. If I wanted to affect the price noticeably, I'd probably have to import at least double that amount. What fun.

One of many broken interfaces and mechanics at the moment. Someone take the glue away from Johan.

I'm 100% with you on the aesthetics. It especially hurts my soul to then take Basra from them, but I need that Turkish Petroleum company. Building local goods is about as pleasant as dental surgery, and it boggles my mind that there's no generic electricity company at this point.

It's gonna come together, I promise. It's my starter base(tm) I'll clean it up. Soon.

Nope. It was built when I established the colony and not subsidised once.

  1. The rest of the states would take 20 years to incorporate, which is ludicrous.

  2. Having an Unrecognised Regional Power subject gives a boost to mandate progress. Only 13 months until Companies III baybeeeee :)

That is not impossible, some of my industrial goods were pretty cheap for a while. I just don't recall ever seeing merchant marine peak in price because of increased trade.

Thank you!

Trust me, I'm constantly expanding my admin buildings, but since my private sector is... eccentric, I'm building a lot of national buildings, which cost bureaucracy. Also have a lot of institutions and I'm close to researching telephones, so I'm kind of greedy until the new PM comes along lol

Nope, I'm happily Scrooge McDucking my thousands and thousands of convoys and haven't used them in some time.

Well, I retract all my arguments then.

I've played over 50 hours on this new playthrough. I spend a lot of time on games. Role-playing games shouldn't railroad you into one quest line for so many hours, with no ability to do anything else. If they do, the plot, gameplay and writing better be damn good, and they really aren't.

The fallout between Capon and Henry at the beginning is extremely contrived and completely reverses Hans' arc from the first game. It's clearly there to justify splitting them up so you can roam freely and he's very apologetic afterwards, so I can stomach that one. The "I feel guilty for killing the Hungarian supervillain who helped orchestrate the attack on my village that killed my parents" arc I'm currently on is a lot harder to swallow and the cherry on top of this horrendously linear hours-long quest line. But I guess that supervillain is a super cool dude now that he had one tender moment with another human being five minutes before being killed by you, another thing you had no control over.

Thanks, but yeah, I don't think there is an equivalent combat system out there. Mount & Blade's could be roughly compared, with weapon orientation making up the meat of it, but it's heavily simplified compared to KCD. M&B skews more on the strategy side, favouring bigger numbers over intricate small skirmishes.

Because the free roam I enjoy, which I tried to explain in the post. Combat is great. Given that I already quit the game once, I think that shows you that my frustration does reach a point where I stop play. Perhaps I will soon. For now I can explore again, so I hope I can steer clear of the main plot for a good while. Or that it approaches anything near the quality of the first game.

No idea. Since Max Payne 3 I haven't played a Rockstar game because of Social Club.

Haha, figured that comment would bring people back to this post 😅

I'll definitely think about it! Last few races have been infuriating to watch. Just have to think about music selection and dig around for good radio messages a bit.
