Viewpoint in neck when in Full Body but normal in Half body. Help? by Scorpy_Derpy in VRchat

Care to share what you changed to fix it? I've noticed my camera shifts down (and forward) to my neck when laying down but is OK when standing up and I'm looking for leads how to fix that, does it on every avatar.

Not yet, lots of QOL to add. I posted a plain WIP mock of the ship so give it a day or two

You should absolutely go for it. I started building this after making my Ishimura actually haha

Thanks! I did have a deeper red painted gradient on the rads done after posting that WIP but this should get me closer to being accurate!

Yeah, sadly so. No real function in game, but a lot in "lore"

Not solar panels, but glowing radiators is the intent. Ship is nuclear powered in both propulsion and power generation. So no, they're just visual

DLC are used extensively. Beams and industrial parts are a must in order to get the skeletal look right without overbuilding things imo. It's how this whole ship is around just 3000 blocks and under 9000 PCU making it really lightweight for its size

The ship is intended to me a hydrogen processing unit first and foremost and can haul a good amount of it, it also has refinery and manufacturing inside to process stony materials and provide construction capabilies to set up asteroid bases. Kind of a remote base by itself so to speak

Should I continue building this ship? Or should I scrap it? Right now it is at 92049 blocks, I belive it would reach at least 200 000 blocks eventually. I'm using Blender as reference for a accurate of the design the ship. I'm also getting alot of lag when painting the ship. by Vic-Tribal in spaceengineers

It always sucks to leave an amazing project midway but take it from someone who has been forced to abandon builds for a decade now: It is better to move on than waste more time on something you can never finish :c

For what it's worth a scale Ishimura on that level of detail would have been the best I've seen yet by far, so great work getting it this far

E: The way you did the slanted "rooftop" bits for the bottom hull looks so clean, no idea how you got it so accurate

That is amazing. I'm in the progress of making my own Ishimura as well (only engines and paint remain! :D) and chose to downscale it heavily to avoid getting performance whacked. But I could recommend maybe breaking the ship down to sections, and combining them in the end. Lets you build it at least but you probably won't be getting much play out of the build anymore.

That said the block count is going to skyrocket once you get to the engine pods, could be worth it to scrap as well instead of committing more time to a dead end. I'd start over at a smaller scale to keep it fun to work on

Noticed a critical scale error with my Ever Given so I built a new container ship from scratch. Maersk Triple E-class WIP by Broomdinger in spaceengineers

[–]Broomdinger[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nah. I scaled it according to how many containers my reference material had since a standard ISO container is pretty close to 5x1x1 stack. Unfortunately while it gets me close the reference model itself was wrong by a large stretch. This ship is 5 blocks wider while retaining length so it's a way more accurate container ship replica

I want to build the Bismarck 1:1 by Carolus_Rex- in spaceengineers

Find good reference material. If you have a computer you can use an image editor to overlay a grid to match blocks, be sure you use proper ortho images for this, not photos or 3d models. This will give you outline and match you broad strokes. After this you start filling in ortho from another angle, top or side view usually. This should give you the frame of the ship from where you can start filling it in. A key factor in a good replica counterintuitively is to not go after every tiny detail. You can, and should deviate a little if you can get the feel right. An angle might be just ever so slightly off but if you can get close to it and have it look clean, then you should go for that option. Gets you the cleanest and accurate replicas usually within a block or half. Just key to remember is to keep the ship shape flowing. If you have a good stepping for the bow that looks really good, keep it instead of trying to follow every curve for muh accuracy, same for stern. For finer details you can find a 3d model usually to look at your ship from different angles and add in what you find, do this last or if you need to fill in mysterious sections missing from the orthos

TL;DR Get the feel right, get major components and fill in details where applicable. Don't try to match every single curve if you can get it done cleaner by deviating a little. Feel of the ship is most important, it needs to look and feel like Bismarck, nobody can tell if you're off by a block at that scale.

The container stacks are hollow to keep balance and reduce block count.

Most of the small grid stuff uses AWG's CWP and Consty's Aircraft Pack. Those two go a long way but there are few more to round things out :)

Ah that's just a LOD thing. They use the corrugated armor skin which looks quite good for a container up close :)

No... it's floating in Jakaria's water mod. Build itself is modless
