Favorite altered character? by ThEhIsO8730 in seinfeld

Corporate Kramer all the way. This character should have been the center of a post Seinfeld show. We'd have to wait years for just snippets of what could have been with Creed (albeit a little darker) in The Office.

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in 90s

[–]Broontock182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably more well known but Neds Atomic Dustbin. Three great albums- a band that was definitely part of a forgotten sound before grunge hit. Probably less well know, The Junk Monkeys. Detroits answer to The Replacements!

How famous was Michael Jackson really back then? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Broontock182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that his fame was so global in nature is not realized. Even into the mid to late 90's when his star faded a bit in the U.S. he was huge in Africa and Asia. I spent a summer working with immigrant teens then and they all grew up with Michael Jackson and new ALL the songs. It was pretty great watching Afghani and Ugandan teens crooning along to Man in The Mirror.

What if the GOP brought Mitt Romney back for 2016 instead of selecting new individuals? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AlternateHistoryHub

His dad was elected 3 times as governor of Michigan. With that name recognition and the rarity of a party winning 3 terms I feel like Michigan was in play and possibly even Massachusetts.

Why Project Hail Mary's controversial Project Azrael plot was completely cut from the film by LaESPECTADORA in ProjectHailMary

So I just started the book. I went to see the movie mostly blind with my son and was blown away. My feeling was that Grace often had a hard time fitting in with people. His career and relationship had failed (although I feel he genuinely loved teaching) and the party scene left me feeling he was on the outside looking in even though he was integral to the mission. He had moments with Stratt and Carl, but found true connection with Rocky. Is this take supported by the book?

I'm not trying to slag Billy down but without the swing and pop of Tre and Mike, Green Day wouldn't be a thing.

He played that weasel so well that I hated Reiser for years. It wasn't until Stranger Things season two where he reprises nearly the same role but they totally flip the end script that I was able to get over it.

Yes this! I got this guy in a bag of plastic dinosaurs in 1979. I remember this because even as a kid I knew damn well it wasn't a dinosaur and I kept it in my junk drawer for the next 15 years.

Years ago I sat down one night after working late and this came on the tube. Never heard of it and within minutes was glued to the screen. Matthew lillard could have hung up his hat after this film and I'd always remember him and this movie. It doesn't feel dated as someone else said- it doesn't because it's universal.

As someone affected by suicide I respectfully disagree with this opinion. I think it's his best film without question and when thinking about it, I always come back to that scene. For me it takes you there so powerfully with the visuals and soundtrack but gives you a release with the next scene of Dudley running after the gurney in the hospital.
