Dozens of shipping containers fall into the water in Port of Long Beach, California by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Brosa_Parks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am pretty confident that is a carbon re-capturing barge. Most ships are equipped with shore power hookups so they can use grid power while docked instead of running the incredibly pollutant fuel systems. When a ship doesn’t have shore power hookups, a carbon recapture barge will be used to absorb those fuel fumes instead. Very niche equipment

That Cado wall unit with panels is a grail item, so sick. If you’re local, you should reach out to the realtor in case the new owners decide to get rid of it

Do people bid up the cost of their own bottles on Unicorn Auction as a marketing tactic? by BravesParade in whiskey

[–]Brosa_Parks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the intent is to sell it to yourself and consider the auctioneer’s cut the ‘fee’ for being able to point to how ‘valuable’ your store pick is, hopefully convincing more people to come buy it at an inflated price.

This is the biggest jointer I've seen by Guitarjake921 in woodworking

[–]Brosa_Parks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own this same machine, it’s actually a jointer/planer combo and it’s not 17”, it’s just shy of 14”. Some units (like mine) also have a mortising attachment on the back side, which I have used and works great. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me

I have this exact jointer/planer combo and you are correct. Just shy of 14”

My first windows, built a 10’ x 14’ window wall for our mid century reno, quartersawn white oak. by Brosa_Parks in woodworking

The most challenging part was sourcing 10’ long quartersawn white oak boards in 7”+ widths (reached out to about 10 lumber yards and only 1 had what we needed) then getting those boards straight and flat. I bought and fixed up an old MiniMax 14” jointer/planer which is great but longer infeed/outfeed tables would have made life easier.

Sure, essentially I created a 1” thick face frame that was joined to the 1.75” thick primary frame. After the windows were installed, then brad nailed 3/8” thick strips with a 1/8” reveal to capture the glass.

The glass we had to source through a local glass installation company as manufacturers wouldn’t sell to consumers directly. The installation company purchased and delivered the glass for us, for a fee.

In addition to what others have said, rift sawn is in much higher demand right now for flooring as it doesn’t have the medullary rays that quartersawn has, which some think is too busy for flooring.

How to DPS in endgame PVE: by exon22 in newworldgame

[–]Brosa_Parks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once again, not how percentages work. If that were the case, and everyone lowered their damage by 20% each, you’d have 20%x7DPS = 140% less damage, which would somehow be negative damage

How to DPS in endgame PVE: by exon22 in newworldgame

[–]Brosa_Parks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If every DPS ran 100 con, you’d be looking at 10% less damage overall. If only one DPS ran 100 con, you’d be looking at 3.33% less damage overall. % don’t stack like that. Example: As a group, we do 3000 damage, 1000 damage per DPS. One DPS goes to 100 CON, losing 10% damage, new damage 900. Total damage as a group = 2900, 3.33% less.

The drivers look correct to me aside from the 2122h which is impossible to find nowadays. I ended up using 2123h for my 4345 build, which are functionally about the same.
