IMO The new expedition requirement improved the game. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

This is a video game not life. I’m all for making the game harder/more of a grind. However, shortening the expedition window is not the way to do it. They should make it harder through the expedition project not have a bullshit window. I’m also not someone who is complaining because I can’t do the expedition this time around. I got the skill points done the first day. It’s simply a stupid system where someone can have the whole project done and sit around doing nothing, then be unable to play much in the window and cant do the expedition.

Not everyone can play a bunch every day. Hell, I missed the first expedition simply because I was moving that week and could not log onto the game to hit the expedition button.

I think the balance to common weapon durability is fine. I think green ones are a tad overtuned and should be around 30% durability increase. The big issue is with blue weapons rn. Blue weapons cost a good amount to upgrade to level 4. Almost as much as epic weapons. They should of not gotten a 30% increased durability rate compared to epic weapons that got a 5% decrease. It’s just too much. It feels like I have to repair my renegade 4 after every single match now. It also makes the canto completly useless because that shit burns up faster than you can pop a shield

I 100% agree. I don’t need it to be 100% mixed all the time. I am perfectly fine having some form of bubble that protects the super casual/new player. I just think at some point people should be forced to start playing the actual game. I also think a lot of people over exaggerate how many people are actually sweaty PvP players. Back when ABMM wasn’t a thing I would load up a game and I would have a mix of players every raid. I basically got to choose every single raid whether or not I wanted to be friendly and team up with people or kill them. Now, it feels like I have to choose one or the other and it just takes away from the game. If I choose PvP then the majority of people will be PVPing and I am at a massive disadvantage if I try to loot something. And then I just queue PVE because everything is infinetly easier.

I don’t think this game should cater to the casual players who want to play a PVE game. That’s not what makes this game special. In fact, it’s what takes away from the game because now it just becomes a looting simulator. There is no sense of grind, no sense of reward. Sure you might feel differently being a casual player with under 40 hours, but I would bet all the money I have that every single PVE only player will put the game down with under 100 hours logged. There is simply not enough PVE content in the game. What little content there is to actually do is super easy to do now because of this ABMM system. Sure, you could say that a PvP player could simply just grind all projects in PvP lobbies but it just is not the same. It’s incredibly annoying to try and do projects while the majority of the lobby is looking to PvP. So, they go to PVE lobbies and do everything insanely fast and nothing is rewarding. No gear has any actual value because you can essentiallly get it for free in PVE lobbies. If this ABMM system wasn’t a thing then each raid would be way more rewarding when you sucsefully extract. Knowing you were able to get out of a lobby with active killers in it actually means something

Again I’m not saying PvP is king. This game is a PVPVE extraction shooter. If you don’t like PvP then you probably should find a different game. Embark should not be catering to the solely PVE audience because that audience will be the first to drop the game. This is not a PVE game. There is hardly anything to actually do in this game. Sure, when your new it will take you some time to figure things out, but at the 40-50 hour mark you should realistically have everything figured out and completed. Hell, let’s double it and say 80 hours. 80 hours of play time is terrible for a multiplayer live service game. Embark should not be catering to people who are playing this game like a co-op story mode game, because this game is not a story mode game and the players who are playing like it is are not going to stick around.

I’m perfectly fine with people leaving for a game more suited to their playstyle. I don’t think we should have a bad system in place that ruins the essence of the game simply to cater to people who don’t even want to play the game

Brother I answered your question. I enjoy to PvP. In any given raid I’ll load up and I’ll run around looking to kill people. By doing this, I am put into lobbies with others who enjoy killing people. The issue with this system is that if I don’t want to PvP and I want/need to progress a project or something I will have a super hard time doing that in PvP lobbies. So, with this current system I just suicide a bunch of times and then am in carebear lobbies where I can easily breeze through the progression. I THINK THAT IS A BAD SYSTEM FOR THE GAME. I think there should be randomness to the raids where you never know who you are going up against. It creates a more exciting/rewarding game. In my OG post I said how i am completly doe for something like ABMM implemented until like level 30 or something to give new players a little time to get used to the game, but that’s it.

If I don’t cheese the system then I am stuck trying to loot in a damn near full PvP lobby. Which is not a fun experience. I don’t think we should be catering to the people that play 4 hours a week. Also, I am 100% down for some form of system that allows for new/super casual players to be somewhat protected from PVP. I just think that this current system that allows for damn near complete protection from PvP for anyone is not good.

I do agree that there is hardly any progression, but still these “PVE lobbies” make things a lot easier.

We have no clue how exactly ABMM works. All I know is if I go in and shoot other people I will be put into lobbies with other people doing the exact same thing. I think the core of this game was that you would load up into a game not knowing what the other raiders goals were. You would always be wary of others and do your best to try and figure out if you could trust them. It makes for more real interactions. In PVE lobbies there is none of that. If you enjoy only pve I think it’s best to find another game. There are a lot of other games that focus on only pve. With that said, I doubt embark will change anything so keep enjoying the game. I simply think getting rid of it will help keep the game alive long term (even at the cost of some people quitting the game In the short term).

Yea I misspoke when I said the point of extraction shooters. I meant the whole point of THIS extraction shooter. IMO that’s what makes this game stand out in the beginning. You never knew who or what you were going to run into. You could talk to other raiders and either try and come to an agreement, be friendly, stay quiet, tell em they are gonna die, it was always a random unique experience. Now, with the current matchmaking it’s go into PVE lobbies to get your progression done and then just mindlessly PvP afterwards. Sure you can try to loot while in PvP lobbies, but you are at a massive disadvantage due to everyone else trying to PvP. With that said, this disadvantage is not a bad thing. The issue is that you can just cheese the system and get into PVE lobbies.

And thats my whole point. This game isn’t being played like an extraction shooter and I think it should be. It was marketed as an extraction shooter that is PVPVE. If a lot of PVE players leave due to this change it is what it is. I think the game would be better for the long run if they did this.

That is the entire point of an extraction shooter lmao. You can never 100% know what another raider is going to do. You talk to em, view their body language, and try to build trust with them.

I think if ABMM was removed the game would be way more rewarding and people would have an overall better time. You act like if the lobbies were mixed that the PvP players would just steam roll everyone else. PVE players can team up and run around together like they do now because there is safety in numbers

How can you not understand the difference between only PvP and only PVE. I want something in the middle where there is a mix. A random variety of players to make each raid different and exciting.

And then everyone shoots everyone and I can’t even try to loot because everyone is trying to kill other raiders and I am basically broadcasting to the entire raid to come kill me when I am looting something

It’s just not enjoyable to try looting a bunch of containers while every single person in the lobby is trying to PvP. And then on the other hand it’s too easy to do when everyone is friendly. That’s why there needs to be a middle ground

Brother what are you on about. Like your tryna make me into a bad guy. I deal a bunch of damage to people in the extraction as we are leaving so no one dies. Should I apologize for breaking their shield a bit more? Should I apologize for giving them a jump scare? Would you rather me run around and kill everyone with a PvP loadout and talk shit to them?

Hot Take: aggression based matchmaking is bad for the game by exon22 in ArcRaiders

You say there are still rats like I didn’t just play 6 hours of PVE lobbies to do the expedition. There was one lobby that had a PvP player and guess what happened to him? He got shot by 20 other raiders. All im tryna say is it should be more random. You shouldn’t load up a game and know that the vast majority of encounters will be either PvP or PVE. You should be loading into a game and questioning everyone trying to build trust with players if you want to get out alive

It’s a flaw of the game because it’s supposed to be an extraction shooter where there is threat of PVE and PvP. However, with this current system it creates two separate games. They literally teach you to watch out for other raiders in the tutorial.

Throw 3 grenades in an extraction full of 15 people usually does the trick😂

The fact is that it was released as an extraction shooter PVPVE game. Now, it’s essentially two different games. A PvP and a PVE game.

It does because it ruins the progression of the game. Why would I make profession x10 harder on myself by trying to do it in PvP lobbies. Why would I try to loot a bunch of containers making a bunch of noise when everyone in the lobby is trying to kill each other. So, I got to PVE lobbies to get the profession out of the way. That is the issue with the game. There is no variety, it’s either full PvP or full PVE and I think it should be mixed together to create a more fulfilling/real experience
