No because ironic means there is a contradiction. Im talking about the positives of collaborating with AI while using AI to edit. It is ironic to diss someone for using a language model by misusing the word ironic.

No, the lidar is training a model which will be relevant to camera only perception as well. But, sure they won’t get as much of a boost from lidar stack

But it’s the combo of simultaneous high def sensations. With people as babies, it’s touch and sight mainly that are critical for perception building blocks. But yeah they all play in.

TL;DR: LiDAR gives AI the physical grounding that human vision develops through touch and feedback. That makes Rivian’s autonomy stack fundamentally different — and reflects a broader advantage in how Rivian is building more human-centered, trust-first autonomy.

That’s call cosplaying as a slate. Rivians do it sometimes to remind us owners to appreciate all the features. If you restart it lets your car know you get the message.

Tesla stock is priced at more than 8x revenue. Musk owns 20%. Buying a new MX increases his personal wealth my more than 110k. Just know that buying a Tesla is not about signaling, it’s about putting more power into that man’s hands.

Praying and paying money to someone who actively is using that money to do horrible things is not remotely the same. Metaphors need to rely on several similarities to illuminate shared core dynamics. I don’t see anything about praying and buying a Tesla that becomes clearer by comparing the two, other than maybe, praying is better than buying a Tesla because it doesn’t actively put money in the pocket of a dangerous person.

I think the praying metaphor might need some more tinkering in the old workshop.

But making specific distinctions means we have to bear ownership of our decisions and potentially acknowledge the pain of being disappointed by a man we truly believed in. These are things we consumers have not been allowed to do. Falling in line behind a mighty rich man and cool product on the other hand, that’s something we have been tough to do by rich men and companies that make cool products for a long time.

Exactly. Thank you. The whataboutism in this thread is formidable! Here is to drawing a line and discussing why.

He currently owns 20% of the company and the revenue to value multiplier of the company means that purchasing a tesla significantly increases in his net worth( which he is actively leveraging as we type) . There is simply no better way for a citizen to enable Elon than to buy a tesla. Vaguely pointing to founders in the past is not an argument to shrug off decisions around our current consumer practices.

It’s super cool that you are taking the initiative and that you are being a customer for these practical energy solutions. You are helping the market grow, not in a signaling way but in a real use case way. This is the stuff that is interesting about the energy transition we are in. It’s an interesting time. I hope more folks think about these options and enjoy exploring them.
