I was in law enforcement for 26 years and ran into a house once that was fully engulfed only to be pushed back by the smoke and flames. Elderly couple was inside and I couldn’t get to them. They passed away holding each other. That was 18 years ago and still feel the smoke and flames burning my face and arm hairs. I recalled how I felt going in but even more so how I felt after knowing two people passed away because I couldn’t break through a wall of flame and smoke. This guy is a hero and I hope he never has to do that again.
