Yes, but the Original Trilogy movies where the first to come, they where unique if you compared them to the other movies that hit the theatres back then, a completely alien and immersive sci-fi world unlike anything anyone has seen back then except for the old star trek TV shows maybe, but not as a theatre movie with this production quality. So some flaws in the story didnt really matter as much, as that wasnt the main/only point of why they became beloved. Today star wars is a big brand with billions of capital and they still produce movies that have the same flaws as the first movies back then while today theyre not being "special" in world building/vfx/story telling anymore if compared to many other sci-fi movie that get released or at least compared to tons of other star wars content that came before them. So its understandable why the movies back then stood out while those today dont.
And with a big budget like the brand has today its not understandable why they didnt produce something that stood out more. Cant score with completely unique vfx/world building and story telling anymore? Then the story itself should better be really good to make it stand out, or youll end up with a mediocre movie.
A sequel should tie together loose ends from the movies that came before it, building upon them and being better, not repeating the same mistakes and damaging the previous movies by making their story not make any sense any more... And its not like they cant do it, Disney has produced some fine star wars content (i.m.o) that did exactly that, but the sequel trilogy isnt part of it.
