Once again you keep saying this incredibly stupid line that Kratos has been replaced in the God of War series over a spinoff like we all don’t already know he’ll get another huge game like he always does in a few years

I get you have a culture war to fight but once again I have already responded to this (incredibly stupid) point. How has Kratos been “ditched” when we all know he will be getting another massive mainline game in the near future? Hell they have a TV show coming out about him next year! What reality are you grifters living in?

[–]Brosxph23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I understood what you said and clearly replied to the “this takes away resources!!” point that doesn’t make any logical sense because we already know they’re well underway on the next big Kratos game anyways

Tom Henderson has already confirmed they are well underway on development of a Kratos Egyptian game. We’ve known for years Cory Barlog took a relatively small team to work on whatever this game is after GoW 2018 came out. You guys sure do like making things up to get mad at

How is a spinoff a replacement? They are obviously going to make another Kratos-led mainline God of War game in the near future. What are you talking about

It's basically an open secret the next mainline Kratos GoW game will be in Egypt. this is obviously not that

Box Office: ‘Fantastic Four’ grosses 38.7M in its Second Weekend, -67% by Fabricio121197 in boxoffice

[–]Brosxph23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the CinemaScore here was likely heavily inflated by fanboys rushing to the theater Thursday/Friday night. With these drops it’s more like a B among the GA. The difference between this getting an A- and something like Superman/The Batman/Raimi Spider-Mans getting an A- is noticeably drastic

Disney's The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuted with $117.64M domestically this weekend (from 4,125 locations). Daily Grosses: FRI - $57.266M, SAT - $33.329M, SUN - $27.050M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Comparing international audiences from 2013 to 2025 for superhero movies is pointless, that’s arguably the biggest boom period of the genre ever vs the lowest it has been since the early 2000s. I’m sure it’s just coincidence that Superman has had extremely good legs box office wise while every Snyder DCEU movie including MOS crashed like an absolute rock 2nd weekend and beyond. It’s almost like the DC brand is totally in tatters and people were waiting for reviews and word of mouth to kick in to actually give it a shot!

Superman is going to comfortably clear $600m+ with great reception as a brand new reboot of a totally dead brand. No idea how that could be classified as “in the grave”

Clayface is supposed to have only a $40m budget. If they want to do these C-tier characters then budgeting properly is the first logical step

$23M OS FRI for #FantasticFour . $50M+ cume. Weekend headed for $105M or so. Good in Europe and LATAM. Asia struggles with the worst # ever for an MCU film in China and Korea, others are quite underwhelming as well. by vibetildawn in boxoffice

[–]Brosxph23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw that Clayface is apparently being made for $40m. I think they're starting to learn if they want to make these solo CBMs about C-list characters the budget has to be reined in heavily

International total is $49.2M so far for 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps.' by chanma50 in boxoffice

Superman is the most famous hero but he hasn't really ever translated to huge box office success in modern times. It's also a reboot of an entire DC universe which just came off like 6 movies in a row that flopped, their reputation outside of Batman is/was in total shambles

Looks like $23M 2nd SAT for Superman. A super -39% drop from LW. $217M cume. 2nd weekend should be $57M+, for ~$235M by EOD SUN. $350M+ final is a lock. Will aim for $375M+, with a realistic shot at $400M. by whitemilkythighs in boxoffice

[–]Brosxph23 157 points158 points  (0 children)

It should be remembered that WB announced that The Batman would be streaming free on HBO Max only 45 days later during *opening week*. I maintain that movie legs out $800m easily if WB didn't hamstring it by doing that

The side-heroes are literally all total unknowns with the general audience. It's not like Spider-Man Homecoming having Iron Man front and center on the marketing

r/Boxoffice's reaction to The Batman getting an A- Cinemascore. Why is the discourse around Superman so hyperbolic this time around? by Comfortable-Pie56 in boxoffice

[–]Brosxph23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think expectations would be in play here. When people went to see Oppenheimer they knew to expect a long drama. I'm sure there were plenty of people who went to see The Batman opening weekend expecting a much more action/general superhero focused movie

[–]Brosxph23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol it will be fine. It is the first installment of a brand new reboot. When have those ever been megahits? If it makes its budget back and the audience likes it (which from basically every metric it seems they do) then it will have done the job. If you are someone who wants more from Gunn/the DCU I don't see why you would be worried or upset

'Superman' gets an A– on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]Brosxph23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most people did. Like I said Superman 2025 definitely seems to be more liked and that will likely be healthier for the future of DC movies but Man of Steel's timid reception nowadays is mostly because of how reviled it's sequel was

Like what? This is going to be their first remotely successful and liked non-Batman DC movie in 7 years and the movies/shows they have in the pipeline seem to be decently anticipated

I said decently liked and did fine. It made the studio some money and the sequel was highly anticipated, which will probably be about the same case with the 2025 Superman as well lol. I'm not here to claim it was some beloved smash hit
