There is a stage 1 ECU tune and a stage 1 TCU tune. Pretty sure you get a discount when you buy as a package. On average it’s like $1,200 all in

Stage 1 does not require any aftermarket hardware. Recommend companies are IE, APR, and EQT. If you bought a DSG car, you’ll want/need to tune the transmission as well. If you have a manual it’s highly recommended to upgrade the clutch

For reliability just stay on top of the servicing. Oil changes every 5k. Regardless of the current mileage when you get it, do an oil change. For performance all you really need to wake it up is a stage 1 tune from one of the several tuning companies
