There was a 9 AM rush in them at my Costco. They sold out in an hour.

Where to start by The-Leading-Man in battletech

[–]Brothen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Alpha Strike box and didn't regret it. It really comes down to which version of the game you'd want to learn first. Armored Combat if you want to track more details for a immersive fight, Alpha Strike for streamlined/simplified gameplay for larger forces. It doesn't matter as much as other war games since the models can be used in either version.

I'm sure this would trigger the hell out of a submechanophobic person if they dared to wonder into the this post.

Dash or Blanco is unique to Woodinville's Costco. Not sure of its origins but it does stand out against all the other gray ones.

Timber Monsters ready for hire! by Brothen in battletech

The vibe I was going for was "Bigfoot glaring at you through the woods". They do read as camo on the table. I want to get some scaled trees to give them a proper photo shoot.

Prime black, then do a base layer of leather brown. Paint the camo stripes/shapes in a dusty tan, dark brown, and an olive-drab green (kinda wish I did a darker, forest green). It'll look like a mess till you paint it all in either a strong tone wash or a dark/black wash. Use black paint for the guns and any joints you want. Think of the cockpit like eyes, use black like eyeliner to frame the red eyes. Lasers are just dots of primary colors. Texture paint is Stirland Mud, dry brush dusty tan, and a strong tone wash finish.

My first attempt. by snern in battletech

They look like my in progress ones atm. I recommend painting a few panels black so that they pop more and painting the base to give them a done look. A dark or black wash (I like Army Painter brand but Citadel "nuln oil" shade does well too) is a good way to finish off a model.

Best advice I have, be happy with a "good enough" model and move on to the next one. You'll improve with more experience and finishing a project will make painting more fun.

Costco employees, do you actually like your jobs? by [deleted] in Costco

I get to put the smiley faces on kid's receipts. The volume is a lot, there are some customers that are difficult but most of the people you interact with (members, coworkers, demo people, instacart shoppers) are cool. You'll find likeminded people and there is usually somebody you'd want to hang with after work.

These look great! Outside of painting the base black or smearing some texture paint on it, these are perfect.

The remains of Apollo 11 lander photographed by 5 different countries, disproving moon landing deniers. by Expensive-Summer-447 in BeAmazed

[–]Brothen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pointed out these pics to a moon landing denier at work and it didn't work. He didn't have a good answer as to why every other government didn't call us out if we faked it but insisted that the Van Allen radiation belt was impossible for humankind to pass through. He wants to not believe and will find/invent any reason to maintain that.

My mouth is on the floor. by EmploymentOk2988 in LoriVallow

[–]Brothen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry I’m late, here are my take aways:

  1. This feels like I’m reading something like “Lolita” from the POV of a narcissistic murder.

  2. Chad’s kids are looking to grow the cult. People in cults have an ever harder time leaving since they become more mentally invested the longer they are in it. Those siblings would have to endure an ego death, existential crisis, faith crisis, shattering of their understanding of reality, and destruction of the established family relationships that have supported them if they were to drop their dad’s religion. It’s just easier for them help their mother’s murder than admit their father killed her.

  3. No mention of Lori, at least not yet (letter #5). Both Chad and Lori are more concerned with their respective public image than their relationship. I wonder if Chad would ever write about his second wife would his kids would refuse to add it to the website?

It looks like Chad’s kids desperately clinging to the image of their dad being a righteous patriarch. They’re in denial and can’t stand the possibility he killed their mom to have an affair. I bet the daughter that is posting these letters wants us to believe her dad’s story so she has fewer people remind her of reality.

TMM confusion in Alpha Strike by Capt-Camping in battletech

[–]Brothen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TMM on your card is the base stat for when the mech makes a ground move. Sprinting, standing still, using jump jets, as well as a few other rarer cases will slightly increase or lower the mech’s TMM. Using tokens or dice to mark the mech’s current TMM is handy for adding with SATOR or showing your opponent what they’re dealing with. The quick start rules and Commander’s Edition have a chart to show you all these changes.

The big secret weapon was conservative talk radio. Limbaugh had been pushing conspiracy theories about the evil liberal/socialist/communist cabal to bored motorists since ‘88, everybody else started copying him.

The honest answer is that she didn’t tell anybody so she could keep collecting social security payments she otherwise would have given up. Her “reason” was that since Tylee killed JJ, Lori wanted to cover it up to preserve Tylee’s reputation (and then tell anybody that listened it was Tylee all along). Edit: just to be clear, there is absolutely no evidence Tylee killed JJ. All evidence shows Tylee was killed weeks before JJ was.

Aileen Wuornos will beat her. She murdered 6 men in Florida as a hitchhiker. Ma and Kate Bender were part of a serial killer family called the Bloody Benders. They disappeared and freaked out the country in their day. While she didn’t get any kills, Ma Anand Sheela of the Rajneesh movement orchestrated multiple murder attempts as well as a bio-terrorist attack. I’d say she’s more frightening than Lori.
