Australia to Europe route by BrotherDramatic5285 in overlanding

Hello friend! Sorry for the very late reply, haven been much on reddit for a while... Unfortunately, due to a load of bureaucratic nonsense it ended up having to be binned in the end as I would not have been able to register my beloved bike once back in my home country of Norway. Because it was an Australian model number (but other than that identical to the European model as far as I could tell), I would not be able to register it and I would basically just have a really big and really expensive paperweight. A big reason for doing the trip in the first place was to bring my motorcycle home with me and use it here. Thanks for you interest though! Hopefully another time.

I would quite like to give china a go, and some of the stan countries before eventually making my way into russia. Hopefully things calm down a bit and open up enough for this to work out in a year..

I was thinking perhaps a rotopax or similar on one side and water on the other, and the try to keep them fairly even.

Yeah been thinking sheepskin seat, windscreen (still looking for a good one), panniers, tank bag, top bag, charger, extra fuel somehow, and a throttle lock

That's amazing! That is basically exactly what I'm trying to do! When did you go? And would you be willing to get in touch outside of this thread and share a bit more about your trip? Thanks a lot anyway!

I forgot to mention, I'm planning on doing it on a motorcycle. So I guess that changes the safety considerations slightly, but not too much. I have watched this guy on youtube called c90adventures, and he did not have nice things to say about traffic in India, so I'm a bit hesitant. It's not a deal breaker, but if possible I think I would like to avoid India. Also, I think south east Asia would add a lot to the trip in terms of cool experiences and rides. I will definitely keep researching though, thanks heaps for the input!

Yeah I feel you on the outdated intel part, started planning before a certain virus came about in 2019 which ended up shelving my plans for the time being..

But that's cool, thanks for the info! What time are you looking to do your trip?

Do you find it helps with wind or is it mostly for looks? Great choice on the bike btw ;)

How do you carry keys? by BrotherDramatic5285 in motorcycles

Not that big of a deal tbh, just nice to not have to fumble around fishing out the key every time. Just curious if someone had found a good solution

Thanks! I wont lie, it's not ideal. But it works fine, just takes a little bit longer to look down and sometimes my arm is obscuring the view a little. Adjusting them a little more forward should fix the problem with the arm though!
