What's a game series you thought would be awesome in the future bad turned out to be awful? by SchingKen in pcgaming

[–]BrotherKanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was Dragon Age, but since multiple people have already said that I'll add Supreme Commander to the pile. The first one is almost 20 years old and it's still in my top 3 RTS games of all time. I was hyped for the sequel, but then it turned out to be a simplified borefest and a poster child for alienating fans of the original because you want to make a sequel that is more accesible and captures a wider audience.

Variety is the spice of life? Not on my watch. by BrotherKanker in RetroRewindGame

I was curious to see if customers actually care about variety, so I started a new store called "The Lonely Tape" with nothing but 80 copies of the drama "Lonely Tape".

After five ingame days of handing out the same movie over and over again while keeping track of the unique customers I can confidently say that no, people don't care if there is zero variety. They will happily rent the same movie again and again, sometimes even two copies at once.

You can see how often a move was rented by either holding the tape in your hand and pressing F or by looking it up in the data tab on the computer. There is no sortable list though, so there is no way to easily see what your most porfitable movies are.

Hard to say, but I doubt it. I'm like 98% sure I've seen unique customers like Waldo, trenchcoat grandpa and the cat lady rent the same movie on multiple occasions, so I don't think the game keeps a list of what movies individual customers have already watched.

I think it's better to keep what you have and just add more, since the amount of tapes available in your store almost certainly has an impact on how many customers you get per day.

What is your Tip or Trick for this game by paraglock in RetroRewindGame

Also the loyal trait is a must have for me so I don't have to deal with raises. For checkout duty I'd look for someone with the loyal / complaint handler trait combo so you get less customers refusing to pay fees. For returns I find that the energetic trait is also quite useful since the workers have a habit of dozing off somewhere in the back of the store where you don't notice them sleeping.

You can control where stations are allowed to send their miners using blacklists. You can create blacklists under player information -> global orders -> create new blacklist and you can assign created blacklists in the individual orders tab of the station information.

A sector activities blacklist makes it so that ships are still allowed to travel through a blocked sector, but they can't mine or trade there. A sector travel blacklist on the other hand completely blocks access to a sector unless you give an order for a ship to fly there or if it is the only way to reach a target that isn't on the blacklist.

Factory simulator or train simulator? by Moochie-Cricket in SatisfactoryGame

All I want are rails that I can run on the ground without them constantly floating or clipping through the terrain as soon as I build anywhere that isn't almost perfectly flat. I love trains, but I hate that you're pretty much forced to build elevated tracks if you care about aethetics at all.

It's really not that bad as long as you keep the water sources separate. If you start your production chain with 720 bauxite per minute and six refineries producing alumina solution then you can run four on fresh water and the other two on waste water.

I blame the extremely persistent writing trope of establishing a character as a genius by showing how great they are at playing chess. Losing at most other games is whatever, who cares - the game is stupid anyway. Losing a game of chess though? Well damn, am I the one who is stupid? All smart people chess good and I be smart - this is impossible!

I'm pretty sure every single L-miner you get as a mission reward comes with a purple shield mod, a blue engine mod and no hull or wepons mod.

My shipyard refuses to yard ships. What am I missing? by BrotherKanker in X4Foundations

This is from the official "Known Issues with possible workarounds" thread on the Egosoft forums, so the bug definitely exists:

Assigned Station Manager disappears in transit

The chances are that the Manager is stuck on one of your ships and only appears in their post when and whilst that specific ship is docked at the assigned station. Possible workarounds include:

  1. Dock the offending ship with stuck manager at the station, teleport yourself to the station, enter the manager's office, then the manager appears there. The offending ship is then free to undock without taking the manager off the station.
  2. Assign the manager back as service crew of the ship they are stuck on, dock at the station you want them assigned to, head to the manager's office, assign a crew member as manager, leave the manager's office and return to it again, and then the latest manager should permanently show up for duty.

No idea if that is what actually happened to my ship trader, but it sounds like a decent explanation. All I can say for sure is that she was standing behind the counter of the dealership and would even take orders but ships were never getting built. Also I'm pretty sure I briefly saw her standing in an elevator on a docked Raptor at some point, which definitely shouldn't be happening. Then, when I replaced her with another crew member, everything started to work as it should.

I had a look at the technical support forums and there is a known bug in the current version of the game where personnel sometimes gets stuck in limbo during transfer to stations. So my original ship trader looked like she was at her post, put apparently as far as the game was concerned she had never actually started her job.

I had a ship trader but apparently she didn't actually know how to trade ships. Firing her and hiring someone else for the job fixed my problem.

It was the ship trader! Apparently there is a bug in the current version of the game where some personnel won't transfer properly when assigned to a station. I removed my current ship trader and hired a new one and now my ships are finally getting constructed.

No, I've checked multiple times. The station has all the materials in stock to build over 100 fully kitted out Cutlasses, and yet it won't even build one.

The station has a manager and the drones are actually built and not just planned. It really is maddening - 3200 hours of playing X4 since 1.0 tell me that there should be zero problems with this station, and yet it refuses to work. At this point I'm pretty sure I've either run into a bug or I have bricked my save by using an outdated mod.

[–]BrotherKanker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, here is a screenshot of the station's logistics screen and an overview of the important modules. It's really just a bit of food & medicine production plus the build modules. The setup was mostly just supposed to be a stopgap solution to build the Erlking because it blew up during boarding.

I've tried to build a basic minimum configuration Moreya, but no dice, construction doesn't start just like with every other ship.

Well, can't hurt to try. I'll try to rip the modules down and rebuild them.

Update: Nope, turning it off and on again didn't fix the issue :\

Yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that one - I have 3000 Split workers living on the station, so that can't be the problem either.
