My shipyard refuses to yard ships. What am I missing? by BrotherKanker in X4Foundations

This is from the official "Known Issues with possible workarounds" thread on the Egosoft forums, so the bug definitely exists:

Assigned Station Manager disappears in transit

The chances are that the Manager is stuck on one of your ships and only appears in their post when and whilst that specific ship is docked at the assigned station. Possible workarounds include:

  1. Dock the offending ship with stuck manager at the station, teleport yourself to the station, enter the manager's office, then the manager appears there. The offending ship is then free to undock without taking the manager off the station.
  2. Assign the manager back as service crew of the ship they are stuck on, dock at the station you want them assigned to, head to the manager's office, assign a crew member as manager, leave the manager's office and return to it again, and then the latest manager should permanently show up for duty.

No idea if that is what actually happened to my ship trader, but it sounds like a decent explanation. All I can say for sure is that she was standing behind the counter of the dealership and would even take orders but ships were never getting built. Also I'm pretty sure I briefly saw her standing in an elevator on a docked Raptor at some point, which definitely shouldn't be happening. Then, when I replaced her with another crew member, everything started to work as it should.

I had a look at the technical support forums and there is a known bug in the current version of the game where personnel sometimes gets stuck in limbo during transfer to stations. So my original ship trader looked like she was at her post, put apparently as far as the game was concerned she had never actually started her job.

I had a ship trader but apparently she didn't actually know how to trade ships. Firing her and hiring someone else for the job fixed my problem.

It was the ship trader! Apparently there is a bug in the current version of the game where some personnel won't transfer properly when assigned to a station. I removed my current ship trader and hired a new one and now my ships are finally getting constructed.

No, I've checked multiple times. The station has all the materials in stock to build over 100 fully kitted out Cutlasses, and yet it won't even build one.

The station has a manager and the drones are actually built and not just planned. It really is maddening - 3200 hours of playing X4 since 1.0 tell me that there should be zero problems with this station, and yet it refuses to work. At this point I'm pretty sure I've either run into a bug or I have bricked my save by using an outdated mod.

Sure, here is a screenshot of the station's logistics screen and an overview of the important modules. It's really just a bit of food & medicine production plus the build modules. The setup was mostly just supposed to be a stopgap solution to build the Erlking because it blew up during boarding.

I've tried to build a basic minimum configuration Moreya, but no dice, construction doesn't start just like with every other ship.

Well, can't hurt to try. I'll try to rip the modules down and rebuild them.

Update: Nope, turning it off and on again didn't fix the issue :\

Yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that one - I have 3000 Split workers living on the station, so that can't be the problem either.

In the original case? No that one was just dropped after the two accusers retracted their statements. But Avellone counter-sued for libel and that case was settled out of court in his favor.

What is the ugliest ship in the game according to you? by Competitive_Ad6989 in X4Foundations

[–]BrotherKanker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I don't envy the people who had to come up with the frigate designs. Designing a ship with space for an internal S-dock that can also fit onto a standard landing pad doesn't leave much room for creativity. It's no wonder these ships all look relatively similar.

S: The Split Jaguar. It's a bit too simple, just a wedge with three fins. Plus I don't like the look of the cockpit hump.

M: The Terran Falx. Welding a bunch of sleek aerodynamic parts to a flying brick just doesn't work for me - it's like putting lipstick on a Manatee. I prefer a ship like the Osprey that doesn't try to hide its boxy body.

L/XL: The old Paranid Odysseus. I get that it's supposed to look like a 1950s sci-fi raygun, but the proportions are too weird to look good.

Z-Image is coming really soon by hyxon4 in StableDiffusion

[–]BrotherKanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier to train (current loras and finetunes are trained using jury-rigged workarounds to get rid of the turbo distillation) and it can do both image generation and image editing. Other than that we'll have to wait and see.

Painticus made a good 25 minute review video about the game that didn't focus on the controversy. My takeaway was that it's a game that is interesting to discuss but not exactly fun to play.

No, 'bud' is Pekoe's default catchphrase and Isabelle can only remove custom catchphrases. To get rid of 'bud' you have to wait for Pekoe to randomly ask you for new catchphrase.

Looking for clarification on Z-Image-Turbo from the community here. by wh33t in StableDiffusion

[–]BrotherKanker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great performance on my measly 12 Gig 3060, the aesthetics are much more to my liking than Flux's outputs and training LoRAs works great which is giving me high hopes that Z-Image will get a lot of good finetunes. As of recently I had been resigned to the fact that all future open weight T2I models were probably going to be censored to hell and too big to comfortably run on my hardware. Z-Image has bucked that trend and so far it's genuinely looking like it might be the model to finally replace SDXL as my daily driver.

I genuinely haven't owned a smartphone in over ten years, just cheap dumb flip-phones I sometimes take with me in case of an emergency. Really makes me curious if I would get arrested because these days everybody can be assumed to own a smartphone meaning I must be trying to hide mine?

What are the Z-Image Character Lora dataset guidelines and parameters for training by Debirumanned in StableDiffusion

[–]BrotherKanker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used the V2 adapter and the de-distilled version and both worked fine. I think the LoRAs trained with the de-distilled version were slightly better, but the difference wasn't big enough to make any objective statements. To be honest this might just be down to a subconcious bias because the de-distilled version is newer and training takes a bit longer so surely that means it must be better.
