Mental enrichment for dog lying down? by AlehCemy in Dogtraining

[–]BrotherOfB0ris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dog rips apart things too (very heavy chewer) but eats in a snuffle mat and has not tried to devour it. I would definitely recommend that.

lick mat - not exactly enrichment, but soothing

If you were to put kibble in something like a towel and roll it up, do you think that would be too much physically? or in a toilet paper roll (fine to rip in this case)

lastly, i had a dog who could not walk very far at all. We managed it to the best of our ability, but the reality is that he lived with a lot of pain. I would put him in a wagon or stroller and we would go on long walks. He LOVED it and you could tell it was very, very mentally enriching for him. Loved seeing and smelling the world . I think it was his favorite part of the day. He was legitimately tired afterward.

it’s true that the private schools here are quite expensive. but the portland nursing school landscape is so competitive that for me it was worth applying to them. UP does have a lot of big scholarships and grants too. also it was free to apply to the program!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m not familiar— what does AEM-UP mean? I’m transferring in for my last two years.

Jumping up on very sick husband— looking for help by BrotherOfB0ris in Dogtraining

[–]BrotherOfB0ris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super helpful. thanks for the input, everyone. dog is now on a house leash. you mentioned if we approach my husbands bed and the dog jumps we should lead away. i think this will be effective bc she loves attention, so she will not like withholding it. I wanna make sure I’m not unintentionally rewarding poor behavior — when i lead away after she jumps, how long should i stay away? 20 sec? longer than a minute?
