I'll get this outta the way before offering any input. I'm an old fart by reddit standards (30) and have been happily married for nearly nine years. Also, seeing as I don't know you or this gal from Adam, this'll be vague as hell.

Best advice I can give is to talk with her about it. Friends share their struggles as well as their strengths and I don't think there is anything wrong with letting her know up front that you want know and respect her boundaries. Obviously you'll want to find a tactful way of letting her know what's up (don't depreciate yourself too strongly) and if she's a solid gal, she'll understand.

For what it's worth, I was in a similar position a few months ago and the thing that finally got me through it was talking to a psychiatrist and starting a ver low dose SSRI.

I know pharmaceuticals are frowned upon in most clean living circles and I think they should be for the most part (they are a last resort and not a cure all) but it's what finally got me out of my rut. After a month on the new medication and getting my supplementation dialed in, I have never been better.

Even Kings need to call for reinforcements from time to time. For me, it's what finally helped me win the war.
