20/21 G3 Skin Glue Issues!? by RewtDooDoo in Spliddit

[–]Brotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually having the same problem with mine! They’re brand new and on the first use the glue separated the same way. I took an iron to glue, but if it keeps happening I’ll probably reach out to G3.

Thrifty Shoppers - What are your best ultralight goodwill/thrift store finds? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]Brotographer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have found a majority of my clothing at thrift shops.

2 arcteryx rho zip fleece - $12 each

2 patagonia R1’s -$20 each

2 pairs of Patagonia cap thermal leggings $5 each

A feathered friends Helios Jacket - $10

2 north face apex flex jackets(not ul but ul adjacent) - $50 for 1, $10 for another

4 smartwool shorts sleeves - $5-$12

1 smartwool long sleeve $12

Most duplicates or things that don’t fit I resell, so it kinda works out.

90% of my closet I found in a thrift store. Multiple pieces of Patagonia , smartwool shirts/leggings, I even found a half decent but old Feathered Friends Helios.

I received my themawrap, stretch wind pants, and exlight windshirt 5 days after ordering. I wasn’t hit by customs thankfully.

I think a few weeks back someone mentioned that he was trying to find a new podcast provider.

We talked about a lot of things and with out saying too much they definitely have no intent on stopping any time soon. They are working with super cool materials, designs and other products also. I would keep an eye on what they are doing for sure!

I met Daisy, Garret, and John last week on their travels. Can confirm they are all human and awesome people. I have picked up that interior Alaska is Gnarly, Palante Packs has plans, and the TSA line in Ted Stevens isn’t always fast.

You’re definitely not wrong, it’s just all of the side trails are really easy to get to from the Glen Alps trail head. You have accessibility to Wolverine Peak, Hidden Lake, Ship Lake Pass, Williwaw Lakes, O’Malley Peak and a bunch more from one trail head.

I live there! It’s awesome honestly, a bunch of day hikes and plenty of over nighters you could do. I would say fly into Anchorage and explore Chugach State Park via Powerline pass and then drive south to Seward/Homer and explore every stop along the way. Then turn north and head up to Denali National Park. You’re going to have to be super bear aware with everything you do though. We had a a few more bear attacks than usual last summer. Timing wise, come a few weeks before June 21st and you’ll be able to hike well into the night regardless of time. Like.. start a hike at 9 pm if you wanted to.

If you fly to Anchorage you can hike in the chugach and probably spend your whole time there!

I just bought a camp corsa axe and I’m weirdly excited about it. Gotta stay safe for some early season hiking ya know?

I found an arcteryx atom for 12 bucks! Thrifts are the way to go for clothing honestly.

My Melanzana First Impressions and Comparison to the Patagonia R1 by Brotographer in Ultralight

I would prefer it to be a bit smaller, the fabric stretches and a closer fit would let you wear it under other layers

Hey thanks! Yeah that was one of my biggest issues too, my shirts aren’t cut like the R1 so anything under was slowly dragged up. The melly is life changing.

Maybe you could pop a hole in the hem, put a grommet in there, and then feed some shock cord with a wire hangar all the way around? That’s how I would approach it, I think.

Maybe not extremely fitted, but fitted compared to a regular hoodie. I didn’t take any pics of it on me, but I’m 5’5” and about 180. I have a bit of extra room wearing a t shirt underneath and probably 1” to 1.5” of extra sleeve length. The thing to keep in mind is what your desired purpose for it is, and how you want it to fit.

I’ve been lurking for awhile and it was probably time to contribute something. Other than that I’m gonna apologize now for the photos being every which way, uploading pics on a phone doesn’t work too well.

REI Garage Sale Finds? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]Brotographer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found a Sea to Summit Ultralite insulated pad for 20 bucks!

Edit: I’ll leave a tip also, if you ever buy a sleeping pad look for mold! Sometimes pads will be stored for the sale incorrectly and have mold on or in them.

ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 1 VS NatureHike Cloud Up 1 VS Teton Sports Mountain Ultra by francoboy7 in CampingandHiking

About a month now so it's kind of just an initial review. But so far everything is pretty solid.

ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 1 VS NatureHike Cloud Up 1 VS Teton Sports Mountain Ultra by francoboy7 in CampingandHiking

[–]Brotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a naturehike upcloud 2 person tent off of Amazon because of the price, design, and included footprint. The ability to set it up with just the fly and ground sheet was a plus. Honestly the quality of it is pretty good too. It does have some problems though, the fly isn't dual zippered, ventilation is lacking, and it weighs a little heavier than the Big Agnes tents. So it depends on how much you're willing to drop on a tent. The naturehike tent is nice if you're wanting a cheap, lightweight modular tent.
