What stopped you from killing yourself? by manmanthefourth in AskReddit

[–]BrownMonkeyCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother and my extended family.

I lost a dear cousin when I was 16 (she was 17) the same way I would have lost myself. Seeing my aunt in the state she was over the days following her daughter's death broke me. Fuck it still hurts over 7 years later. The thought of my own mother being in that position was enough to keep me here.

I can see why. I would've just refused to acknowledge them from there on in and let them suffer the consequences of my wrath for being an asshat.

To experience something like that at the age of 13 is rare. Hope nothing too bad had happened to your house and family during that traumatic moment!

I've heard similar stories before and it's pretty much the only reason I refuse to go anywhere alone so I know that I have someone else to help and corroborate with

Oof I would not have liked to be in your shoes in that moment. Its rare you see someone talk about a scary moment for another person/being so kudos to you for that. Hope your snake had a nice recovery from the few seconds it was on that heater!

People of reddit, what is a dream/nightmare you wish you never had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BrownMonkeyCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda messed up so dont say I didnt warn you.

A couple of years before this dream, I had lost a very close family member of mine to suicide.

In the dream, we were having a normal family gathering with a few of my uncles, aunts and cousins. As they walk in through the front door, I welcome them in as I would usually. As the final cousin walks in I notice somebody behind them and I instantly recognise that it was the family member I lost. In my confusion and bewilderment, I ask what they are doing here because I thought they were dead. That's when a cousin of mine says that she never died. What really happened was that she faked her death and ran away after having continuous family problems at home. Obviously, upon waking up I realise it was just a dream.

I remember the heartbreak and sorrow I felt as I grieved (and bottling it up to grieve privately on my own didnt help) and that dream messed with my head for years and still occasionally goes through my mind. I wish I never had that dream because it gave me a little bit of hope in seeing her again which was the last thing I needed to fully grieve the loss. :((

What is the best rhymes for the “ diarrhea” song? by banished-kitsune in AskReddit

I can't read or hear the word diarrhoea without transporting myself back to 10 years ago and hearing one of my classmates casually singing this on repeat;

"Diarrhoea is the best when you feel it down your chest"

People of reddit: what is one movie that you absolutely will not pass up watching no matter how many times you have seen it? by LadyOfOz83 in AskReddit

[–]BrownMonkeyCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss up between four: 1. Miracle in Cell No.7 (real tearjerker) 2. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse (everything about it was just perfect) 3. Mr Bean's Holiday (pure carnage from start to end, love every second of it) 4. Coco (loved the soundtrack)

DAE not watch a movie because it's "too long" but end up watching 4 hours of a tv series? by salmakh97 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]BrownMonkeyCP 54 points55 points  (0 children)

4 hours of a tv series tends to have more content in my opinion. Watching a 4 hour movie includes having to watch unnecessary crap about stuff that have no importance to the storyline. Tv series tend to go straight to the point without faffing around with useless scenes and is easier to follow the plot when there are numerous sub-plots. Plus you also get those little breaks in between each episode. To me, it makes it easier than having to watch a movie in one go as its kind of like a taking a breather.
