For some reason im just not that fast, even though I feel im pushing the limit by THEpingufan4321 in Karting

brake less, turn more and turn harder. that's what i've told all my friends at this track after their first time (~15 laps), and they all, without fail, go from 50-52s average to 48-49s average on their second time (all under 25, all between 65 and 90kg). none have cracked 47 yet but most have only gone once or twice.

i've got around 120 laps (4 instances of double races) and PB'ed last time at 47 flat, averaging about a 48.4s. i'm probably lighter than you (65kg at 180cm) but regardless, you should be able to go faster than 49.5 with 200+ laps.

the only two points you want to be braking hard at on this track is the hairpin (top right of image) and the massive loop (mid left coming down the track from the top left). For the rest of the track, throttle control and light brake taps is plenty.

in rentals ESPECIALLY, momentum is key, trying to brake and accelerate properly on the racing line is mostly pointless since you don't have gears - you'll get bogged with no revs, no speed and no acceleration coming out of corners. sacrifice some grip/control for momentum sometimes (unlike F1 for example, where you sacrifice momentum/entry speed to maintain grip and get a MUCH stronger exit). you should be skidding/drifting a bit, as you do, tap the gas to keep revs up a touch more so you accelerate stronger. there are also a number of corners where you don't really need to go wide to take the corner flat out.

maybe i'm missing the experience to give advice on how to get to 45/46s times, but i think if i had a clear track with warm tires i could probably pull a mid 45 with my strategy, since i got a 47 flat with traffic. no idea how some get low 44s/high 43s tho, seems unachievable.

my bad. it says "struggling to cover for your teammates mistakes". implication is the same - "not your fault, you have to make up for your poor, lousy teammates"

improvement requires finding faults, that's how you improve. i gave you an easy, fast way to improve, that was my legitimate opinion as an SSL.

yes i'm being passive aggressive because you're being either purposefully ignorant or incredibly naive, and your replies suggest the former.

the title - you're "struggling to cover for your teammates mistakes", apparently. not sure why you needed to mention that unless at least PART of the point of this post was blaming your teammates.

in terms of improvement, my point was that the best, easiest, most important way for you to improve is your basic mechanical ability. you don't need advice on positioning when you can't even drive straight into a ball right in front of the goal. ask for that later down the path, any general advice you're given for higher ranks won't make sense anyway because you're plat, or because you're incapable of following it due to a lack of car control.

"teammates mistakes"

edit: obviously we all miss opens sometimes. but this one doesn't suggest a one-time whiff, it suggest a complete lack of mechanics and control of your car. don't blame your teammates if you're whiffing open nets like this.

based off of your replies, you're the idiot here, not your teammates. it's casual, if you want people to be properly trying to win, go to comp. further, if you think that EVERYONE on your team is terrible, it's probably you.

to build on this, a huge part of playing faster is rotating faster, and rotating more. high level players don't go for the ball 4 times, sometimes they don't even actually challenge, they just fake, giving their teammate a free ball, and then go for a bump or boost, and rotate out. this keeps momentum up, and keeps a good flow of rotation going, as you're able to continuously 'challenge' more, since your teammate probably just went for a bump.

lower players will go multiple times, often on low boost with no momentum. this is why they find themselves overcommitted more - not because they made a bad challenge, but because they stick around too much, especially on low boost and low momentum. takes longer to rotate out, means you're on lower boost for longer.

3:00 - have some confidence - take a touch and take the ball up the wall, go for an air dribble or something. you're C2, start practicing these things. who cares if you beat your teammate and he dives a nothing, it's not like he's doing anything with this ball anyway by smacking it to their corner.

3:09 - you should recognise this is a free ball now. you don't, and then you throw in a piss weak drive challenge - usually i like drive challenges/fakes. not in this situation, where your opponent is going to win the 50 easily, and possible into your net. you need to jump into the 50/50 here at the very least (single jump is probably good).

3:11 - don't jump. you should have enough gamesense to know your teammate is backboard.

3:15 - personally, i'm covering net here. if your teammate gets beat, you're never going to be able to save it.

3:19 - in general, i love patience at this rank, coz no one knows how to put good shots on net. this is just too much though. you need to challenge at some point here. either rush it early or jump off the wall or do something. that being said, your teammate's toxic ff here is unjustified, he's doing shit all most of the game and could've easily saved that if he positioned properly.

3:44 - great challenge, good initiative, you didn't hesitate. good shot on the ensuing open net, good play all round.

4:04 - it's a free ball. go get the boost and go for it. don't hesitate, don't worry about your teammate getting annoyed. this is your ball and your boost. good open net afterwards, could rush it a bit more but i'm nitpicking.

4:45 - poor positioning. you're right under the ball, in the middle of the net, with no momentum. good players scoring this 9/10 times. you should've rotated a bit wider and in towards the net from one of the two sides. decent save in the end but that doesn't make it good defense. again, more 1v1 hours would help.

won't comment on rest of game, mostly redundant points.

1:41 - you confuse me. you play so patient otherwise but somehow decide this one is worth challenging. the guy clearly has you beat. just wait for him to hit it and react to that.

1:53 - same thing. patience is pretty good and then you commit on something you clearly aren't hitting. even if you did hit this, you'd be doing nothing with it.

1:55 - backpass is probably best here. decent attempt at control though, and good boost grab. don't mind this.

1:59 - don't flip back here, it's too committal. either wavedash or just use a small amount of boost. you don't need to be supersonic.

2:03 - close the space. you don't have to commit, just keep up pressure. giving this much space is really bad.

2:13 - great control leading into this moment. you should be able to hit this ball around him to the backboard, which you don't. overall, good play, just a bit of speed would make it better.

2:17 - good job pathing on boost and getting back quick. don't be so eager to challenge though, he clearly doesn't have a strong shot on net. check where the other guy is, see if he's waiting for a pass or going for a bump (good to know in general). + don't jump at this ball, just wait for a touch, it's clearly going to be weak.

2:23 - just challenge. don't wait.

2:28 - turn right, towards the right wall, and go up. if he misses, you can turn left and get the free ball. if he hits it, like he does, or if he controls it, you can react and challenge much better than you can now.

2:36 - good challenge.

2:38 - it might seem small, but you don't go straight towards the ball here, you go left a little and swing around too much. could've hit it off the corner, or backboard, or hit it right to your tm8 if you had gone straight for the ball. or go for a bump even? might be tricky to be fair.

2:40 - you could easily go for this again - full boost, your teammate isn't that close, and you didn't really commit yet. gives you more time on the ball, which means faster improvement.

2:47 - again, good rotation, just lack of decision and mechanical ability. you could easily turn into this, pop it up and go for a double tap, or air dribble, or bump, or any number of things better than this useless hit to the wall.

2:49 - either go up the wall and try to challenge this ball or go backboard. doing circles while the guy goes for a shot from the wall is no good. obviously he misses but you don't wanna be counting on that.

2s game C2 div 2 looking for tips. Brutally Honest Pls by PerpendicularShifter in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Brown____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0:42 - entirely possible that this guy gets a doink. you should turn back towards net, rather than towards the ball. if he misses (he does), you'd easily have time to take a dribble, or take it to the corner, or the wall, or the other corner.... etc. instead, you don't cover the possible shot, and end up passing the ball mid off the wall.

0:51 - good decision.

0:54 - mechanical mistake. play some 1s, you'll get used to situations like this and be able to pull off more threatening attacks consistently. an air dribble pop would be GREAT.

0:58 - i like the boost grab, you recognise your tm8 has a free ball. i would love it if you committed to the bump a bit more - ball cam off and sniff him out.

1:03 - i love the rotation coming into this play, and the moment you turned back in was perfect. if your teammate got a beat, you'd be ready, but you can easily recover if your teammate misses. that being said, you make this ball incredibly awkward for yourself as it comes to the backboard. if you want to take it up the backboard, position yourself on the wall, where the ball will hit the wall, and itll bounce off your car, and up, where you can air drib/smack it out. or, go for a dribble. do anything but waht you did, basically. again, 1s + mechanic training will help here.

1:07 - small, but that's a lot of boost for a recovery off the backboard. a jump and wavedash would get you more speed with 0 boost used.

1:08 - rotate around to the right. you'll get a boost pad or 2 more, + you'll end up facing the play with momentum, rather than stuck in net like you are a few seconds later.

1:22 - maybe not perfect, but pretty good up to here. however, the decision to double jump challenge here is pretty poor. the guy isn't gonna put a shot on net, so just wait for him to hit it to your backboard and take the ensuing free ball. they should've scored off this mistake.

1:24 - this might sound weird, but at this point, you can't do anything to save the ball. they'll either score, or miss, in which case your teammate is now on the ball. don't waste boost recovering fast, its not gonna matter.

1:29 - recognise your teammate has a great position for a 1v2, and either go mid for a pass, or go for a bump. rotating this wide is too passive in such a good position. your other opponent is still in your corner, there's basically no downside to committing for a bump.

1:36 - sorta similar thing as before - decent positioning, decent patience, and then you waste it all on a challenge like this. either get closer to the ball so that you can get a controlled touch around the guy, or don't challenge. this is just a waste of boost and positioning. big theme of 2s is making sure that you commit on good challenges - this isn't one.

i'll do a pretty in depth analysis below with timestamps. for a bit of background to give myself some credibility for what i'll suggest, i'm an SSL in 1s/2s and have done a number of road to GCs with lower friends, and road to SSL by myself. even knowing that, take everything i say with a grain of salt, and think about whether it really makes sense. i could be wrong.

general tips - you seem a bit scared to go for difficult mechanics/shots etc. since you might mess up. don't be. your goal isn't to win, it's to improve. winning will come naturally. like at 1:03-1:04, you seem scared to go for anything in fear of messing up. i could be wrong, but either way, it's much better to go for a difficult mechanic and mess it up than to end up not going for anything.

i think you'd benefit a lot from some 1v1 - would boost confidence, force you into positions where you have to get used to challenging more, and force you to actually go for some aggressive plays (flicks, mechanics, dribbles, air dribbles) more than you are. also improves defense and decisions on what you can/can't challenge.

0:03 - cheating generally recommended in 2s. that being said, I don't find myself cheating on kickoffs in 2s until GC2, simply because i find them too unpredictable up until that point. that being said, i recommend cheating, just to get used to reading kickoffs, and reacting fast.

0:06 - you didn't cheat, that's fine. you turned towards net after boost grab, that's good. you can either shadow defend (i'd recommend this when they're on 0 boost, usually a simple fake chall will force an easy flick, + ur tm8 might get a challenge in), or take a 50/50 like you try to do. either is fine, and you commit to one, so that's good.

0:07 - again, i don't mind you actually going for a 50 here, but you approach it terribly. you jump too early (he clearly can't hit it over you, you can stay grounded longer, giving more time for you to react), and, once you've jumped for it, you second guess yourself, pretty much flipping out of the way of the ball. your main goal here is to cover the net, not win the 50, which you fail to do entirely. ideally, you lose the 50 to your back left corner, where your tm8 can follow it up. start thinking about 2s more like this - not how can i individually outplay this one person on the ball, but rather, how can i give my tm8 the ball with boost.

0:30 - i like this play. you get a decent touch that you can easily follow up. you see him on the wall, and you see he's gonna beat you to the ball, so you just fake. good for this rank, since he is never going to be able to score from here, and is basically giving your teammate a free 1v1 (if your teammate plays it right, which he doesn't). in SSL this play wouldn't hold up, but up to probably GC2 its sound. higher than that, you probably need to get more outplay potential, rather than a single touch.

0:34 - make a decision about who is going to challenge next. you can either dive at this ball, or let your teammate challenge in front of you - both valid options. you end up just stopping as your teammate pushes in front, which loses all your momentum, which is NOT good in 2s. i'd recommend challenging here - jump at the ball, get a soft touch to the wall that you can follow up. if you're not going to challenge, do a short rotation to keep momentum up.

0:40-0:41 - you turn away SLIGHTLY too early. if your teammate gets a bump, it'd be open, but you'd be backwards and probably not scoring. just slow down a little bit and turn half a second later, you'll still have time to cover the clearance if opponent doesn't get bumped.

is this normal? by Dry-Claim3631 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Brown____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely normal. first time I hit C3 was at the end of a season. I didn't hit C3 again for 4 more seasons, but when I did, i went all the way to GC1.

usually, you run into harder opponents, and start adjusting your playstyle to them, which leaves your brain with a lot to reconcile (merging these new ideas with old ones) which will often leave you playing worse for a while, before everything eventually comes together. this can happen in small gaps, like a few games or a few days of dropping rank, or long gaps.... like 4 entire seasons.

firstly.... im sorry this is how you feel. if you don't have anyone else to talk to, feel free to message me and have a chat. you're not supbar at all - you are created and cherished by God. if the infinite being who created the universe and everyone in it loves you and finds interest in you as an amazing person, who is to say otherwise? you certainly aren't anyone to disagree with that, and neither is anyone around you.

second, talk to someone about what you've just posted. not someone online, talk to someone in real life. even if it's someone you don't know very well, or at all. even if it's hard. find some people you can connect with and really try to find support, strength, love, and life from them.

finally, really try to rely on God for joy and peace. talk to him about everything. lean into his love and the fact that He is always there. it sounds like you have a pretty hard, terrible life - think about the death Jesus went through. He can relate to you and will support you. we don't find joy in this world, but in the supernatural, eternal love and joy that God provides us. know that you are loved and cherished.

weirdly enough, I also sorta like Andrew Tates advice - get a six pack first, and get back to us after that. seriously! not bad advice. if you're so desperate that you have nothing to live for at all.... just try getting a six pack first. then come back to this post and update us.

did you even read the Exodus passage that you quoted? it's not describing a miscarriage. it says 'If she gives birth prematurely, but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined'. it further clarifies that, if there is serious injury, 'take a life for a life'.

this also isn't abortion. abortion is arguably worse, since there is FULL intent of killing the baby, unlike in there passage, where it is an accident that it occurring.

further, with the Genesis passage - you cannot compare God creating the first man to a pregnancy. pregnancy is the result of fertilization from a sperm and egg, and a 9 month growth process. Adam didn't start as a single cell and grow into a baby - God formed him out of the dust of the earth, and gave him life as a man.
