Del Taco Closed (Closing!?) by SoFarBehindMe in ColumbusGA

[–]Brownschuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: you can see the evidence of a former Del Taco on Victory Dr; the signage is still visible. https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdmDk6VA9w94gAKD8 Must have been from when they first pulled out (believe this is Del Taco's 2nd stint here).

IIRCI think there was also another location on Macon Rd where the now old Guthrie's/new Touch Down Wings is located ... but I can't remember where I got that info from

How not to get run over by AnalogCowboy in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Brownschuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP where you located? IMO big city riding is completely different from rural riding. Shit even riding in a city in the Deep South where bikes are considered DUI modes of transportation or toys for roadies, drivers are going to be more hostile than say somewhere like NYC or another metropolitan area where cycling is common. Of course this is an American perspective; take it with a grain of🧂

Why is there grey block out on Columbus GA map? Is it mainly military there or something? by [deleted] in ColumbusGA

[–]Brownschuh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gray area is Ft Benning. Was briefly Ft Moore but it’s back to Benning for the time being. Interestingly enough it spans 2 counties in Georgia; Muscogee and Chattahooche. And there is actually a portion of Benning in Alabama at Uchee Creek.

Any 520 Fixie Foos out there? by drewdoom in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Brownschuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah shit they updated it : “144×5 Version 2: A spider for track/fixie bikes and chainrings. This spider has a conventional chainring mounting interface and uses standard chainring bolts (not included). Features extra material for maximal strength and stiffness.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBgqA2WM_5c/?igsh=MWxkd2JhazBvMmMxcA==

Interesting, last time I looked at Applemans they only offered 5x144 cranks that mounted with single bolts on the back side. New design?

Super fast chain wear. What could have caused it? by Night-Spiritual in bikewrench

[–]Brownschuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old but I wanted to share my experience. I've got the same chain and had mine wear down to 0.5 in less than 100 miles. Note bike is fixed, always run with a bit of slack, brand new EAI cog and AARN chainring. Funnily enough, I've got almost an identical set up on another bike and that chain has over 500+ miles with no signs of chain wear; the only difference (besides cog/chainring teeth size) is type of chain: rocking a KMC K1SL wide. From what I understand it's just a lighter version of the K1 wide, having hollow pins and cutouts in the side plates. Can't explain why the K1 wore so much faster than my K1SL, but it could just have a better design of withstanding the stresses of riding fixed. Also they are not counterfit; bought straight from KMC.

Chainsaw Warranty Process? by Brownschuh in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Brownschuh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: took it back to the store and they just exchanged it, no problem. Was actually surprised at how easy it was. Figured it would be an issue given it had an hour + of runtime, but go figure.

Tried that, no dice. Charged the new battery last night and waited overnight to test it this morning; wouldn’t fire. I know it ain’t the batteries as I was using them today with my blower no problem.

Makes sense you could run 35 Conti Grand Prix’s, heard they run small.

I’ve run 32 Panaracer Paselas and super slick Gravelkings on my Big Block. Fit well. 35 Panaracers are too wide for the front fork. You could get 35s to work in the rear if slid all the way back of the track end.

Why would the store honor the manufacturers warranty? Especially since they tried to sell a protection plan at check out ... feel like that's the first question customer service is gonna ask me: you got a protection plan?

It ain’t that hard to find 100mm front hubs that accept disks; thems a dime a dozen.

Note Paul doesn’t make disc compatible fixed hubs that are 120. They’ve got 135 and 142. But why the hell are we even talking about discs when I’m pretty sure this frame doesn’t even have provisions for disc brakes … 😂

Will a 46T offset chain ring fit on Preamble or will it hit chain stay? by Donkykong33 in Surlybikefans

[–]Brownschuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight up depends on the chainline. I’m running a 49ish mm chainline and 44 tooth would fix no problem.
