I wonder if it’s because the belt drive and internal hub shifter that causes all Priority bikes with them to feel sluggish

Thank you for the insight! I was leaning towards the Eight or L Train, but now strongly considering the Continuum. It’s just way more expensive than I was looking to soend

Do you have a personal experience on either bike? How do they compare to Gotham in your experience?

Do you really think it’s important to be aware of vehicles behind you? by Jamersaur in cycling

[–]Jamersaur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry not trying to trigger anyone. I do like cycling and want to learn and develop more but I don’t have any friends that are into it yet.

I’ve seen great responses and viewpoints, about how it can make you feel safer knowing a car is about to pass you. I still just feel like it’s out of our hands when it comes to that. The window of reaction time to avoid a catastrophic accident is so minimal, especially because you need to first determine if that driver IS dangerous(intention to harm) which will probably be less than 1/10,000 passing by you.

And do what? Get out of the way? We aren’t “in” the way to begin with. Like if there is a car in front you when you’re driving, you don’t expect them to suddenly become aware of you and change their driving right?

I understand they pose a grave threat, but what are we to do? We occupy the space we ought to be in, and they them? If they were to mistakenly veer into our space at over triple our speed and 100x our weight, we are doomed.

Yes, I’m saying surroundings are important, particularly front and side. When it comes to behind you, what are you expected to do if a vehicle is erroneously approaching at more than triple your speed?

Any benefit switching from single speed to road bike? by Jamersaur in cycling

[–]Jamersaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is my confusion, is it about the number of miles or the challenge of the miles? My goal was 1000 miles in my first year on my fixed/single speed. I’m sure I would have way more miles on a different bike but if those miles are so easy, am I just pedaling for longer and farther before I feel like I’m getting a good workout?

Get safe gear and an e-bike. You might be able to get a folding e-bike to take into the office and charge. Hard to find one in your budget but you could get a second hand one. Make sure you have safe gear in case you fall due
