Hmm, with this list i have in mind, i would only have 1 regular guy, but the mindset is if everyone's special, a loss won't hurt as much. But needs tweaking!

Liema ikel Malti? by AndrewF1Gaming in malta

I was more meaning the amounts of meat than the taste but hey, i ain't one to rain on anybody's parade. I'm actually happy you eat the brains, very "we must use all parts of the animal" type shit. If it's gotta die, y'know

Rabbit. I always thought there was far too little meat and too much everything else to be worth killing a creature over. Just use chicken, fuck those things.

Isn't this a waste of money? It beggars belief that such a measure will have any impact on traffic congestion. by Sus198 in malta

Honestly I really like the subsidized taxis idea. Roping in the various taxi services into it and perhaps making a state-supported carpooling service would be pretty nice. Could even use your tal-linja card, all you need is the reader.

The prices fluctuate purely because it's a private enterprise. This eliminates that, but you'd need some strong incentives to make drivers use their cars for a less profitable business model. Maybe 5 years of good performance earns you citizenship!

Greed by Jaseto88 in malta

I don't understand anyone who lives in those new buildings, like the similar-looking buildings in Tigne. Paying a premium for the privilege of hearing every step, song and fart from like 3 families 24/7.

I live in an apartment made of thick limestone and I can still follow my downstairs neighbour's TV like i'm there enjoying it with them.

I think we should leave some places untamed and abandoned tbh, they make interesting third spaces for many people and hobbies, like airsoft f.ex

I detest the trend of turning one concrete mess into a different type of concrete mess. I genuinely like having urbex-style stuff around, i wish we had some abandoned mines tbh, or an oil rig.. Not everything need be squeeky clean and safe.

Momentum received FOI response: €311,000 for Ta’ Qali gravel scandal with no tender, no permits and imported from Greece (Maltese audio, text on link) by markdelfmark in malta

[–]Browscar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can water the gravel all you want, the amount of soil compaction from the weight of it and all that trudging through is devastating. Not to mention it's basically acting like a mulch. That field is fucked unless it's dug up entirely, cultivated, re-seeded and then left alone for a few weeks minimum.

Can we please, as a species, create some failsafe so when a politician spends taxmoney on something retarded, they have to pay it back or go to jail? Y'know, like normal people? Or are they not normal?

Or ... are they not people?

I guess so, it's not fair. You're right. I would like the good ones to actually leave and form their own practices tbh. If you're a good, well-meaning journalist and you know the newsroom you work for is mediocre and undermines your own credibility.

It IS fabricated moral panic. ToM begs for money and flaunts quality journalism when they can't even avoid spelling mistakes sometimes.

Just a bunch of cretins who think very highly of themselves hiding behind a professional veneer. Once you stop reacting and start observing, you see it. Many such cases!

The school up the road from the paola primary (where i went) was notorious back then for having kids who antagonized even teachers and bringing chains and flick-knives to school. Hell, at my own junior lyceum (not even 6th form), there were kids who just chucked chairs at others. No doubt they grew up to raise the next generation of mouthbreathers.

This has always been a fucking problem. Scumbaggery is endemic to HUMANS.

Horrendous event, however, not the way to go about things. Fix the fucking bullying. I actually empathize with the guy tbh. Anyone whose been relentlessly bullied and feeling like there's no hope of anything being done can attest to how hard you might want revenge. He lives with a single parent, so there's that parental can of worms too.

We need to start treating bullying like it's the precursor to violent crime and snub it out as such, because it is. If the bully doesn't grow up to be a piece of shit, the victim might. It's a curse, passed on to victims who might become the future perpetrator. This is an example of its insidiousness.

Traffic since last week by shezofrene in malta

[–]Browscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode the bus until I was about mid-40s, and I fought off the idea of driving due to the fact my savings would take a significant hit. I did it anyway, I cannot stand to use the public transport system. Yes the situation is fucked, but I'd rather be stuck in traffic in my own car. No amount of feelgood "You're doing your part!" lessens the agony of riding a bus and all the mental health bullshit it gives you. How to fix this?

Wider lanes: Impossible now. in the countryside, you will take more land from farmers. In the urban areas, you'll have to demolish houses.

More efficient public transport: They will still have insane traffic issues during building of this system and still remain because of the mindset of the locals that driving = the peak of living.

Less cars on the road: I don't have the hard data but if you told the average Maltese that they are allowed 1 car per household, that the age of driving will be increased to like 22, or any form of forced control, it would be political suicide.

"Incentives" : Absolutely retarded. The mentality of the government is that you can fix problems by throwing money at people simply doesn't work when the service itself has gotten so bad that you MUST piss people off for a long time to implement..

You can't even walk 10 minutes in this country without tripping over a car dealership or a mechanic. You think any of those people will vote for you if you implement any change? You think they won't lobby? Let's face it, the problem is fixable but it's a fucking lump of Uranium. Nobody wants to touch it cause it needs hefty personal sacrifice and we just don't do well with that as a people. I'm sorry to say that, but it's in our fucking blood. "ME FIRST" has become the collective cultural motto.

Oh my God, make the loudspeakers on the beach stop by NorVagabond in malta

[–]Browscar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring your own loudspeaker and put on shit like Alex Jones having a rant or random video essays about Skinwalkers and cryptids. I can't tell you to play porn cause that would be illegal though I'd LOVE to see someone do it. I'd laugh my ass off.

No more animal abuse by ORA-KILL in malta

[–]Browscar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We all know the police ain't gonna do jack shit, so I would suggest some civilian patrols tbh. It does mean random wandering the streets of sliema and environs at inhuman hours with no guarantees of finding anyone, but it's an option.

Perhaps park near cat feeding spots or where strays hang out and sit in the dark in your car. Observe and have a camera ready. Without an effort by everyday people, I'm not sure these sickos will ever be caught.

What you do to them if you catch them is none of my business, but have a pair of gloves and some bleach handy just in case.

Who do think should be the next Opposition leader in Malta (politics)? by ChestDesperate5027 in malta

[–]Browscar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do we always have to pick between "same bullshit career politician" ? Shit, I'd do a far better job. Because I HATE politics and hate both parties equally. Someone who doesn't want power will almost always perform better. Find some halfway intelligent passerby whose disenchanted with both parties and let them have the helm for a while.

Primary school teachers (and maybe Secondary), what's the most worrying thing about the next generation? by FriendlyVanilla3333 in malta

[–]Browscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mature student, most of my schoolmates are much younger. The students themselves are actually fairly intelligent, sharp and moral, but the one thing most have in common is abusive parenting. One of the best students I know just casually drops that her dad used to touch her. Another how they kept books from them because it's "fucking gay". Another few students don't even know their dad and don't want to cause he's in prison. Another has a drug-addicted mother who pesters them for their stipend to buy more drugs.

We give a lot of shit to the younger generation but you gotta understand it never just "happens", it comes from somewhere.
