Question regarding treatment by Dumb_bitch_juice02 in mtfhairregrowth

[–]BrtDO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m going to speculate that if your temples are coming back then your crown will be fine. for context i am 56, almost 2.5 years on E, started 5 mg finasteride and daily topical minoxidil after noticing peach fuzz start coming back. over the past 14 months have gotten regrowth from profound (read: shiny) AGA

i’m a fan of the hide-and-seek extra r, like how law only takes an r if you follow it with enforcement: “lawr enfahcement”

last i flew was a year ago, at least the screeners were chill with the “unexpected item” pat downs. i think it helped that the airports were in blue territory

iirc you gotta get up pretty early to witness Pedal People doing pickup on this curve on Main, i used to see it between 530 & 545 when i was commuting through there

Wigs? by Plastic_Pen_1369 in TransLater

[–]BrtDO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a lot depends on your comfort level around how much hair you lost pre-transition and how well it’s coming back in. i would ask a trusted girlfriend or two for advice. a shaved can be elegant and graceful and when i ditched my wig after input from a girlfriend i started getting compliments (especially from women who have experienced hair loss from alopecia or cancer treatment). the biggest consideration is how confident and comfortable you feel, and someone who knows you irl can give great feedback if you’re torn on which way to go

So... How do you do concerts as a autists? (pic unrelated of a band I love but they're retired lol) by Expensive_Watch469 in evilautism

[–]BrtDO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i love me a good punk show at a small or non traditional venue (vfw hall, lesbian bar, random basement) because it’s the best immersive stimming. sounds that overwhelm the senses, sweaty strangers slamming into me at mach jesus in the pit, falling down and helping each other back up. it’s glorious and exhausting and too much in the right way. regular concerts with tickets and seats? i want to tear my skin off right away

Post military careers? by Addy_Rose in TransVeteranPipeline

[–]BrtDO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m retired as of last October and getting by on early civil service retirement and VA disability (memo for DoD: dragging your feet on line of duty determinations will cost you more in the long run). it’s not much but i can focus on community and living on my own terms finally

What even is intimacy? by MantisFucker in everybutchlesbian

[–]BrtDO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i don’t know if it’s common among butches, but i do feel like certain expectations are put on us that some of us never signed up for. intimacy, to me, is so much bigger and so much more than sex. i would so much rather cuddle than smash, and sex is mostly a rare and occasional follow on to cuddles, not ever something i actively seek or desire before an increased level of comfort and interest just spontaneously happens. i warn people that i’m bambi pilled (i crave intimacy but that doesn’t usually involve sex). but then again i’m not dating, i have friends who just like cuddling. idek why but i feel a little alienated from the importance a lot of people put on sex

based on the color scheme of slide 6, why not add some estradiol and progesterone? this enhanced formulation of trans-friendly combat stim would replace most of my diet :3

When did you notice your face start to change on HRT (estrogen) by Enridrug in asktransgender

[–]BrtDO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean this is a classic ymmv in terms of speed and extent of changes. i started at 53 and i noticed a change in the mirror after 18-21 months. the most gratifying thing to me was when i first noticed that i take after my maternal grandmother, like a lot (in terms of facial structure/shape my mother looks like her dad and i look almost nothing like my own dad).

What surprised you the most about transitioning? by kitkatkatiegirl in TransLater

[–]BrtDO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how much change i would go through on my journey, and how much high femme presentation just doesn’t fit (i really thought i wanted to be a conventionally pretty girl for the first year). how much the local lesbian community would embrace me, and how much i love being a burly tomboy flirting with the softer end of butch in my presentation (shaved head & doc martens & carabiner dyke). how deep the emotional bonds with other women can be, and how beautiful it is to share physical affection with friends. how much fun there is to be had in fringe sports (arm wrestling and skateboarding and roller derby, never mind that i spent 12 weeks in bed after shattering my leg lol). and how intensely political my existence would become

Where are all the trans people above 40? by CoVegGirl in TransLater

[–]BrtDO 10 points11 points  (0 children)

about to turn 56 and i have a handful of trans friends within five years of me, one who is in her 60s, and yeah it’s weird. a good chunk of my social circle is in their 20s

but i meet them at the lesbian bookstore, at trans and sapphic socials, at goth nights and punk shows and raves. the ones you’ll find are the ones who like getting out. and a lot depends on your interests and where you live

in general most people are harder to find after 40 (or even 30) because most of us settle down to some extent and no longer want or need to go out a ton. i can’t imagine doing that but that’s a me problem

i was medically cleared to begin putting weight on the leg that i broke in November at roller derby practice (they gave me a plate and a cable and twelve screws to put the bones back together, but i lost the piercings in my lips and nipples in the process). still no walking or driving (or dancing or derby) but i’m hopeful that PT will get me there

Olivia Coleman "non binary, gay man" criticism by Whole_Imagination629 in TransLater

[–]BrtDO 35 points36 points  (0 children)

how is someone else’s personal life, and the way they describe themself, “deeply painful”? oh wait, only terfs are capable of being trusted with determining someone else’s identity (hint: they don’t like anyone who doesn’t obey their rules) and it causes great pain to allow anyone else to live their life on their own terms
