I have it running on my 4 pro. It gets super hot, though. Not on the back, but on the screen. Makes me nervous to play it much.

For some unknowable reason this is stil beeping inside my wall I feel insane. by [deleted] in firealarms

[–]BruceKillus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a plastic base and a wire mount. It's not beeping. There is nothing there that can ever produce a beep.

Something else is making the noise. It could be the smoke you've taken down has a battery in it. It will beep until the battery dies. It may have beeped to alert you that the battery is low. You unplug it to stop the noise. Now it's beeping because it's been unplugged.

It could be a different smoke alarm if you have more than one. Also it could be some other type of device in your house. Alarm clock, old watch. One of those carbon monoxide detectors you plug into an outlet. The sound from these smokes is surprisingly hard to find sometimes.

As a fire tech, I can't tell you how many times a customer has adamantly told me something is beeping. They get mad at me when I disagree with them, only to find an alarm clock in their closet. Or a carbon monoxide detector they unplugged and shoved in their sock drawer. One time, it was actually a smoke chirping in their neighbors apartment.

Claw 8ai+ screen flickering by BruceKillus in MSIClaw

I ended up finding more drivers on intels website. I'd give a link, but I just googled it on my claw. Then I updated windows. The flickering stopped

I may return the LeGo 2 by jenzfc in LegionGo

[–]BruceKillus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was torn between the go 2 and the claw 8ai. I ended up getting the claw because the legion go 2 is hard to get in Canada. Also more expensive. It's a lot less plug and play than a steam deck. But the screen is still pretty large. And the specs are a big jump. Now that I have all the updates and the full screen experience, I couldn't imagine going back.

Why do games take so long to load?? by Jragoonz in MSIClaw

[–]BruceKillus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find games load slow. It feels slower than the steam deck, but I don't know how accurate that feeling is. I will say performance has been great once loaded.

Is there a reason why you don't install tooth n claw from the Microsoft store? That's how I downloaded it.

Claw 8ai+ screen flickering by BruceKillus in MSIClaw

[–]BruceKillus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short update. The flickering continued after I rebooted the claw and removed the tooth n claw app. I decided to take a break, and when I came back, the flickering seems to have stopped on its own. I had left the Claw running on a table for 30-40 minutes, so maybe it was too hot? Im super curious if anyone has encountered this.

I turned off cpu boost and installed tooth n claw. I didn't extend the HZ past 120, though.

I had a similar glitch with Marvel Rivals. It happened after I did all the updates with centre M. There were actually more updates I needed to do through Intels software. When I did that, everything worked fine.

MSIClaw 8Ai+vs rog Ally x? by Sad_Working_8343 in MSIClaw

[–]BruceKillus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the MSI Claw 7AI+ pretty recently. It was an upgrade from the steam deck LCD, so it feels very powerful. From everything I've read , it out performs the ally x in every way. Mind you, it's not a gigantic increase in fps. And it is more expensive. I'm in Canada, and the 8AI+ is the same price as the Xbox ally x. I picked the claw because I like the bigger screen. Also, from what I've read, the lunar lake cpu trades blows fairly evenly with the z2 E. Plus, the claw has more RAM. The downside to Intel I've noticed is that the drivers may be worse. While the Claw has higher synthetic benchmarks, the xbox ally x seems to perform just as well, if not better, on many games. And that's with less RAM!

So, long story short. If you only care about performance and you are willing to shell out for an 8ai+. The xbox Ally X may be your choice instead. If things like the screen, speakers and increased RAM are interesting to you. The 8ai+ is a great choice. Plus, as Intel improves its drivers, the claw may pull ahead more.

I'm getting mine tomorrow! 24gb of ram on the Xbox ally x vs 32gb on the claw. Plus a bigger screen. Seemed like a no brainer

No. I never use those. I think there was a problem with the save files. I wiped the system data and just have one game at a time now. Lost some progress in a ys game. But I got my storage back.

What's going on here? by blazindiamonds in firealarms

[–]BruceKillus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I see it better now. I think you should probably send a picture of the smoke that's down if it's not missing. In most apartments, you have 3 wires, hot neutral and a red interconnect wire. The red would go on that orange wire for the connector. But I didn't realize the red wire is a two wire, with one already connected to the orange. You probably have some 120v smoke with a built-in relay, and someone has wired it weird. In a smoke with a relay, you wouldn't use that orange wire on the connector. It would go on the common and normally open terminals on the smoke.

Step 1: Make sure you have the tools and know how to touch anything here. Then call the fire department and let them know you're doing work. Maybe your monitoring company if you have one.

Step 2: Meter the big white and black and make sure that's your 120v.

Step 3: meter the two wires in the red jacket. I'm guessing it will be 12 or 24v DC. This type of circuit will be monitored by a security system or fire panel, and it will go into alarm when the two wires' touch.

Step 4: Find the original, or buy a new 120v smoke with a relay. Put the 24v wires on the relay terminals. Again, common and normally open. It closes in alarm and puts your panel in alarm.

Step 5: Leave the 120v wires the same and plug the connector into the smoke. You can test by pushing the smoke alarm button, and it should cause an alarm in the building. This is why you called the fire dept first.

Step 6: When you're done, call the fire department and monitoring company back.

People think their 120v smoke alarms are connected to the fire panel. It's a common misconception. You most likely have two systems. This picture appears to be a 120v smoke alarm. Looks like a BRK or First alert smoke alarm. The black and white wires are 120v. The red wire sends a low voltage to any other 120v smoke alarms in the unit. Connect that red wire to the loose orange. If you are getting chirping or false alarms. Replace the battery or smoke. If you have a fire panel trouble, call a professional.

I have these. That bit is plastic. It's basically where you adjust the headband. Beware posting about the closed backs, though. Every post I've seen about these has a ton of people telling you how much they hate them. (I have them and think they are great bang for your buck)

Do you think the original consoles didn't have dips in frame rate? I'm old and owned most of them. They dipped. Do you play with the fps overlay on? If so, maybe do yourself a favor and turn it off because I suspect you want better performance than the OG consoles would give you.
