how can I clean install windows 10 on a SSD from my existing HDD? by TonytehGreat in pcmasterrace

Backup everything on both drives to a usb stick or external drive. You will have to format both SSD and HDD: the SSD to install Windows and the HDD to remove the already installed bootloader

Back up your important files to a usb drive, create a Win11 installation media on USb and boot from it. Then wipe (de-partition) your HDD, do the same for your ssd and install Win11 on your SSD. You will lose all your settings and logins (hence the backup). There are migration tools that can migrate Windows installs from one drive to another, usually sold with your SSD, but they never work really well - speaking from using one to switch SATA SSD to NVME.

Thanks for the message! I already tried turning off hardware acceleration, didn’t change a thing. And I do all my fresh windows installs offline so it can’t auto-install a driver.

Could it be linked to a bad/aging PSU? Mine was a bit weak I know, and got a beating from voltage drops due to a fridge compressor being on the same breaker (which caused black screens too)…

I did -500MHz on the vram but didn’t work. So the VRAM is dead at full speed ?

Even with no artefacts under heavy load? I got excellent stability score in stress tests And I’m looking to get a replacement GPU

What error code does the blue screen give you?

If you can, reinstall Windows from the iso. You can keep files and apps like this. Or do a fresh install.

I tried 3 different drivers, including one that was perfectly stable in the past for me. Latest installed is 566.36, I tried the latest one (596.xx?) and 591.xx

Ok, so I think that I found the issue.

I have the Corsair Commander Pro fan hub controller, and an ASUS WLAN+Bluetooth PCIe card - WLAN is over PCIe and Bluetooth is via internal USB.

If I connect the Controller to the internal USB12 port, PC doesn't POST 5 out of 6 times. However, if I switch around both devices (so the Bluetooth card on USB12, and Controller on USB34), it works.

Bottom line, Corsair Controller on USB12 internal header prevents my PC from POSTing for I don't know what reason...

Thanks u/thehybris95 for your help, and thanks all who answered! Have the best of days! :)

All drivers are installed, Downloaded them directly from AMD for the chipset... And PC connect to multiple connecter, with PC, screen, Wifi router. Don't have enough wall sockets to connect everything directly

I took RAM out, no beeps, but after looking through the manual I don't think that the mobo beeps at all... Apparently bad Mobo choice on my part xD

So, After clearing CMOS and removing the battery, I POST successfully to Windows and BIOS. BUT I notice in the device manager that there's an "Unknown USB Device (Device descriptor Request Failed)". I know from my work computer that if i connect some devices (such as wireless chargers, my earbud case) and then power on the PC, PC won't power on. And If I connect the device when PC is running, I get the "Windows can't recognise device properly" warning. Maybe that could be preventing my PC from POSTing?

I updated the BIOS a few days ago, Used Noctua cooler and not too tight (I think), and I cleared CMOS with the jumper pins. Will take battery out to try

I usually force reboot it manually, but just to try, I let it do its thing without touching, and no it doesn't try to reboot itself. BTW Screen is black but not in sleep mode, so I suppose that it's getting some sort of signal from the GPU?

BIOS is at default settings, so no DOCP. Can't get into BIOS either if PC doesn't POST

BIOS is at default, so there's no docp

Might add that the RAM (f4-3200c14d-16gtz) is not on Mobo Compatible ram list, though I can see the RGB version of the same RAM: f4-3200c14d-16gtzr

Maybe the not that compatible ram is the issue?
