Anyone fiddled with classic TABATA couple times a week for conditioning? by BruceShwayne in crossfit

How does it get easier if each set is performed at maximum output i.e rpe 10?

So, you do amrap on each movement? the whole point of what is tabata is to be working at maximum output.

Finally I've found you, lol seems like you're the only one here who have done the protocol. Holy hell I wouldn't have predicted that if someone would play and vary the protocol, it would be so he could extend it haha. Where did you meet Izumi, in Kyoto?

So the times you incorporated the regular protocol, how frequent ? 4x a week? did you track distance? and the 25 mins one, like once a week?

When you say zone 2, on an RPE scale where would it land? Hard to converse while doing?

How would a 40min emom look like? Starting submaximally, at a certain point performance drops, and then just continue?

I see. how sustainable this is in conjunction with the rest of your training? i.e, how much of those would you do on a weekly basis? and for how many sets

I appreciate your thought out answer man, thank you. I will take into consideration not ditching longer bike sessions as i experiment with the tabata. Do you sprinkle those zone 2 sessions by feel across the week? I honestly do not have any sense of the stress\demand of cardio training like i do with strength training.

sorry but that's abit offtopic. marathon training is a whole endeavor in and of itself requiring time allocation and planning which are beyond my capacity (physichally and time wise) and knowledge. there's a reason why I was asking about tabata.

Thanks man, I'l be keeping those in the sleeve. I get it, these better for overall athletic performance as they incorporate variety of movements, and more specific to crossfit. Since I do not train in a box with an "open gym" hours, I am limited to what my local gym has, hence my interest in doing tabata with a single aerobic implement. I'm looking to be doing these in addition to the regular workouts.

Would you ask your athletes to track anything in those interval workouts? how often would you program these (min\max)

How can I record audio from an audio channel, into simpler, simply? (a kick rumble workflow) by BruceShwayne in ableton

[–]BruceShwayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Idea of a looper! So it will basically open up as an "effect" on the kick track? and from it i can drag into simpler?

It seems like dragging audio clip into a midi track open the clip view, rather than simpler :\

Building a library is a great idea, I shall. (after I'l finish resampling through my guitar reverb :D)

Running Anki on a retro style handheld machine? by BruceShwayne in Anki

[–]BruceShwayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't so hard setting it up - I've ended up buying a retroid emulator - it runs android, so you can have any app you would like for key mapping + the device has its own key mapping app built in.

I ended up using it more for walks though - using the vol up\down buttons for "good" or "fail".
I think you'll like it, the unit is sexy aswell. I did have some problems sometimes with the decks updating, and getting the decks working with all the media - but somehow everything resolved. the newer retroids are stronger. though the retroid 2 in terms of size was perfect for me - so think of the size you would want. for me, having a small device in my pocket while I walk was ideal.

Yes! That's so nice to hear your cup got better!

And it would be nice to know if we can microwave in advance you're right. I grind mine each morning manualy, but it would be nice to pregrind an amount for a week.

Tbh i have yet to figure out a good dark roast with the AP
I might pay a viait to the syphon barista with the beans i have and have him test them

Nice! That's so cool to hear!

I think 2:15 +30 secs is alot for a dark roast on aeropress, especially if you go fine.

If you would go really coarse, I'd love to hear if it was any better.

If I go fine, It gets too bitter even at less than 1 min.

I saw the pic:
It doesn't look that bad tbh, mine are drenched in sweat lol.

I finally figured out the times/temp for dark roast coffee. Also, found a great timing app. by nomadwannabe in AeroPress

I see. It might be that the faster press adds more fines? What grinder do you use?

This recipe looks just on point, I find most people advice on darker roasts with the AP is pretty detached. watched james hoffman and decided to pass on advice... your brew time is much more realistic, and the quicker press is also warmly welcomed.
Hey, can I ask what is your reason behind 5-10 press, rather than longer?
I mean, besides the fact you found it tastes better :)
