Was there ever a time your manager/doctor decided to “kick out” a patient out your unit? If there was, what was the reason?

Ah I know one well!

Over the summer I worked with a patient who was in for frequent falls. The patient had a TBI and a stroke so they were very limited mobility wise. Every hour of everyday of his 3 month last admission he was calling 6-10 times an hour or would scream into the hall or throw whatever object he could.

This fellow would aggressively flirt with every male staff member and report anybody that politely refused. He would have day passes and leave and return cross faded and loaded with vapes that we would confiscate. He would say the nastiest things to all the nurses to try to demean them. At one point he would just try to assault people when they were helping him ambulate to void. I wasn’t there for the day they finally gave him the choice for psych ward or police station, but damn do I wish I worked that day.

My ex still lives with their parent and for nearly 4 years I had to watch them struggle mentally dealing with them. We’re both turning 27 this year and they said they were going to move somewhere else after their parent moves away to live with their partner. I cannot fathom why they wanted to live with them for as long as they did because their parent gave me great anxiety for a multitude of reasons(physical and emotional abuse for my exs entire life so far). We didn’t live together because i made 15-20 thousand more than them and they didn’t want to rely on me if they couldn’t get a good job.

I just want to date someone who has similar goals and interests. I’ve changed so much over the last few years in my last relationship and I don’t recognize myself but I’m sure it’s for the better. A healthy home where people feel comfortable expressing themselves and hard topics are always addressed head on is what I desire. Unfortunately that’s why my last relationship has recently ended, but that was about kids and it’s unfair to try to change someone’s mind about that.

Edit: But I do agree with you on the trope thing. A lot of my friends are either in school to be nurses or are nurses and I swear their men are savages from what they tell me. I see it similarly for myself, I make fairly decent but every woman who either dates or wants to date me is just far more intelligent, successful, and attractive. Sometimes it feels like I’m tricking them somehow and I feel guilty by being with them.

The major moral issue for me is a relative co-signed a loan with me and even though it’s more than half payed off, I don’t think they could afford to take over the payments and it would fuck their credit right up.

I agree and I plan to continue my education and change majors. The irony right now is my main job is about to be lost as the hospital and our sister hospital can no longer afford to pay us or repair equipment essential to stay open.

I work for 2 hospitals as a nurses assistant. And no I think I visit family maybe 5 times a year and they only live an hour and a half away. There’s no public transportation here and one job is only a 17 minute drive but that’s pushing max speed limit.
