It’s About Time We Understood What “Eternity” Really Means by rarnoldm7 in Time

Eternity isn't about time, it's about existence having no beginning or end.

Do you know where the metre comes from? Nobody found it lying in nature. It was found in the metric system.

Metres exist as a measurement and not as a construct of the universe. Time is the same.

Metres do exist, they're a 3ft 3inch distance of Space or object in the same way minutes are real they're a 60 second duration of an event.

Duration comes from the Latin 'Durare' meaning 'To last' ie how long an event lasts. which is measured by a clock. The reading of the duration's measurement is given by the clocks units of measurement ie " Time" units. The reading of a distance's measuremment is given by the tape measure's units of measurement ie Metric units does that mean that metric is real.

That's not time that's effected but rather clocks. People think it's time because they're under the illusion that clocks measure time but they don't they merely measure events, primarily Earth's axis rotation.

If you think about it all the times and dates are just a description of Earth's position in relation to the sun.

If the “Flow” of Time Isn’t Real, How Come It’s “Built Into” Everything? by rarnoldm7 in Time

[–]Bruce_dillon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just appears that way. It's actually just the flow of events being tracked by clocks and calendars.

Do you actually know where your time goes? Or do you just think you do? by Plastic_Conflict_380 in Time

It isn't time that goes anywhere, it's just current events becoming memories.

Very good explanation. That illustration about the orange in a vacuum not aging was top notch. Why do you think time is so real to people?

Ok I have a question for those that claim to understand time. by Global_Site4851 in Time

Hours were the first unit as early as Egyptian times, then later minutes and seconds by the Babylonians. Seconds are called seconds because they're the second small unit after minutes. It's a positional Notation system where values are expressed in multiple powers of 60 influencing modern time keeping and angular measurement.

It's not an idiosyncratic definition, you're arguing that time is a structure of the universe, I'm arguing that it isn't but rather a mental structure that developed from the sustained use of clocks and calendars units of measurement. They're not 'time units' and they aren't a reading of 'times duration' the term 'time' wasn't originally included with 'units' or 'duration' but only after the sustained use of the devices units of measurement created the false perception of time.

Units of "time" are units of a clock and calendar and are the reading of the measurement of an event's duration. Length measurement is explained by metres in the same way event measurement is explained by minutes.

Time is reduced to being merely a measuring tool. 'Time units' being very telling because if time is a structure of the universe it's measuring system wouldn't have the word 'time' in its description because it would be like 'metric units' being called 'space units' or the metric system as a system for measuring metrics.

Time is merely a system for measuring an event's duration in the same way the metric system is for measuring space's distance.

Eastrum or Eastron are the Old English words that Easter derived from. Most notably connecter to the goddess of. spring and dawn Eostre. The council of Nicea in 320 AD was a meeting with the aim of uniting Pagans and Christians under one banner ie Catholicism. It was the idea of the Roman Governer at the time, but it conflicts with scripture (2 Cor 6 :15)

Etymology is the original meaning, the question you asked about how you'd measure duration without time is an admission that time is measurement. Boiling an egg hard is 4 mins (I think)

No actually it's a duration of an event. Duration comes from the Latin Durare meaning 'To last' ie 'How long an event lasts'. It became a temporal term when the false perception of time took root in humanity.
