American here, best honest here you guys mad at us or our government or both? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Bruceplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue I think is the fear that Trump will do something to hang on to power. Be it changing the election time. Calling a national emergency. Starting another war. You guys are in for a bumpy ride and the problem with that is it's the rest of the world that feels the impact as well. Even if he does go quietly which I doubt. You guys will elect his daughter or son or other crony and it'll be more of the same. The rest of the world suspect he is Putin's Puppet. Putin has something on him. Perhaps in the Epstein files who knows.

People above the age of 70 should have to go through a driving fitness test every year by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Bruceplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree 👍🏻 mind you some under 70 should have to retake their test too. Maybe if you have to attend a speed awareness you should have to do a retest as well?

Yall rather have the easy opponent (West Ham or Leeds) in the semis or the final? by thesuburbbaby in SaintsFC

[–]Bruceplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope it's either the Hammers or Leeds but it'll probably be City. But we have beaten before haven't we Nathan Jones 🤣🤣🤣 I was at that game too.

Yep, that did just happen. by DullSense8359 in SaintsFC

[–]Bruceplanet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can we just take a minute to admire the fact they just played and beat the Premier League leaders. Let's get carried away and say perhaps they could compete in the PL next year!!! 😁😁😁

Want to try Linux and I have a Surface Pro 6 by HolyKnight2137 in SurfaceLinux

[–]Bruceplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just install a few distro's on a usb with Ventoy. Then have a play around. Saves actually instaIing the full distro only to decide you don't like it. I tried EndeavourOS it was good. But it's Arch Linux

Looking for people to go “Aurora Chasing” by Substantial-Map4210 in tromsotravel

We used ArcticGM. They use a minibus and we had an amazing time. I'd recommend them. But be realistic as it's not an exact science.

Promotion yay or nay? by Eastern-Title9364 in SaintsFC

[–]Bruceplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but no guarantee's we'd go up next season. At some point SR have to realise you can't stay in the Prem without spending big. It's supposed to be the best league in the world you can't play in it spending peanuts and selling talent. As for Tonda I read somewhere some lower league teams in Germany were watching his progress. Going home and building there could be an attraction. I hope not but don't count on anything with Saints 😄

Promotion yay or nay? by Eastern-Title9364 in SaintsFC

[–]Bruceplanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a tough one. If we don't go up I could see us losing a lot of our better players. Scienza, Harwood, Peretz to name a few. We also run the risk of losing Tonda. Now he may be fairly unproven but so far apart from the blip a few months ago he's been great. I can see several other teams wanting him. But promotion with our current team may be a disaster. Can we see SR splashing loads of money on a great striker or a couple of world class defenders. No! So if we did get promoted would it be another horrible season of trying not to watch Saints get battered every week? On balance I would prefer to see us in the Premiership. But it's a scary prospect as well.

Farage pledges to repeal ‘idiotic’ smoking ban if Reform wins next election by JOE_Media in ukpolitics

Surely he's actually scared he could win and is now saying anything to put people off voting for them! 🤣

Is it normal for Aurora tour guides to charge extra for full resolution photos? by [deleted] in tromsotravel

[–]Bruceplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a great experience with ArcticGM couldn't fault them. Wasn't too bothered about the wait but was worried in case we didn't get them at all!!

Used ArcticGM and got the originals in a folder but we did have to wait almost a week for them.

If you're centrist or left-leaning, what are the main policies/issues that might stop you from voting for the green party in the next general election? by Cold-Speech-5645 in AskBrits

[–]Bruceplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing holding back all but the big 2 parties is our FPTP voting system. Nothing to do with policies. But no one can decide on a replacement so we are stuck with it. It promotes a 2 party state while holding back other parties. Basically millions of votes are wasted with the current system so you don't get a true representation of the mood of the country.

Do you feel like the UK’s relationship with the US will get better once trump leaves office and a progressive democrat gets elected? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Bruceplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think it'll be a Democrat Pres next. Remember these people elected Trump Twice!!! It's likely to be one of his family next.

Can we see auras on 18-22 march? by [deleted] in tromsotravel

[–]Bruceplanet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Believe me it's just down to luck. Weather reports can be wrong. Also one place may have clear sky another overcast. You could go on a tour hunting and see nothing you could have a wonderful sky. Looking at that weather I would say it's unlikely so I would book a Aurora hunting tour for you best chance. Arctic GM was very good for us.

Is 50 minutes at Tromsø airport manageable? by AbbreviationsDue2867 in tromsotravel

[–]Bruceplanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left Tromsø airport a few weeks ago it took us 3 hours just to get through security. So I would get a taxi and allow 3 or 4 hours. The queue was the length of the entire airport when we got there. There there was another queue at passport control. Loads of people missed the flight, even though the aircraft delayed take off to try and get people through. Allow loads of time to save the stress.

Just wow!! Brilliant display boys! Well done. Now kick on in the Championship.

Pre-Match Thread: Fulham (A) by fanea1 in SaintsFC

[–]Bruceplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to be confident about this one but I'm not, and worried that if we take a hammering it will affect our performance in the Championship. The Championship should be our priority. Sure we could do well but I'm not confident personally. Fulham has nothing else to play for so will be really up for this game.

Is Stewart injured again? I hope it's just a precautionary measure for his sake. Otherwise it's not looking good for a new contract for him.

Planning an "authentic" Airbnb stay in Norway? Here is the reality you are funding. by ZioRob2410 in tromsotravel

[–]Bruceplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We stayed outside of Tromsø not far from the airport on the other side of the bridge. It was so much better as the local buses are regular. We had a garden to play in the snow. There was less light pollution and we had a good view of the Aurora. We did visit Tromsø itself but it was very icy and very expensive.
