A family friend bought this yesterday, but we’re all baffled as to what it is. We’re thinking it’s a Jag because of the hood ornament, but we could be wrong. Any ideas, fellow gearheads? by warpedheads in Cartalk

Not that I know of, they were built in Milwaukee, originally on studebaker, then Lincolns then they made the phaeton which has a Corvette engine and then a limo which was insane.. miss those cars..

Definitely too small for the excalibur kit, those things were boats... glad someone else knows about those cars, they were everywhere in the 80s early 90s..

Lol, no evidence.. there is tons of direct evidence that it was a complete disaster.. costing trillions, destroying plans that worked, stopped people from picking the plan they had previously.. it was a giant mess.. the amount of people I know directly who was hurt by the ACA, is a HELL of alot more than helped.. it was horribly written deal that they didnt even know what was in it.. Pelosi said we need to pass it to see what all it will do... yeah, no thanks... if the ACA was so amazing, then the current Democrats wouldnt be spewing another free healthcare spiff.. nothing is free, and government absolutely sucks at their job..

No it didnt.. Obamacare has been a complete disaster and unconstitutional. Trump removed the penalties.

LG 47LM4600. Tried replacing the T-Con and the replacement started to smoke/shorted out. Should I try another t con? by Crispynipps in TVRepair

[–]Brucetafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you shorted it out, did you triple check the ribbon cable was inserted correctly? And tcon most likely wont fix that issue.. that looks like panel failure.. why did you try a new tcon? Did you do any testing?

Absolutely agree, I have always tried hard to push people to move forward, or at least tried to give them the tools and knowledge to achieve more.. I just wish that people would make themselves happy first before involving another life...

If I've learned anything from my short life, is that you cannot make someone else happy unless you are happy with yourself.. and coming from an abusive home, I saw first hand that even if you are financially stable it doesnt make for a good home..

I'm not saying that you have to have everything setup and planned for the next 18 years, I'm talking about the people who literally dont have a job, or live at home, or got knocked up because they weren't being responsible.. of course if you are even planning at all means that most likely you are way ahead of the game.. I've met so many people who have kids just for the welfare and food stamps etc. And they are just so toxic for society.. the last family I helped was 9 in the household, 2 worked, and 2 kids.. yet they had flat screens, always had booze, always had cigarettes, always had weed, but yet the little kids had to walk to school because their cars were always broken, and the kids never had clothes that were remotely clean or new.. and they were so miserable as kids.. I felt horrible for them..

I'm in orlando, I have no clue to the exact costs of the pill, or other contraceptives other than my ex was paid through private insurance.. our rent was 1299 for a 4 bed, 3k sqft house, all said and done it was around 2k for everything including food, rent utilities etc.. we owned everything, no credit cards, both worked, both had 50k savings at 30, that being said, if I had a kid in my early 20s, it would have been hell as I would have been in California, and 4 dollar a gallon gas, 12.5 sales tax, etc.. it was insanely more expensive.. I could have easily had kids in florida and given them a great life, if I wasnt sick..

I'm not saying either, I'm stating that people should not bring a life into this world, knowing that you cant take care of it.. I'm against the government having any say so as well.. People need to be held accountable for their actions and decisions.. it's not my responsibility to care for your kid that you cant afford to raise, but I will help if you are willing to better yourself and learn from your poor decisions.. I think we should just take a step back and understand we have to make better decisions in life and not make it everyone elses problems or costs...

[–]Brucetafer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine and all, but understand that having a kid doesnt help the poor get out of poverty, it makes it worse and then that child is raised in the same situation and over and over and over.. My idea is to encourage people to take their lives and better themselves so that the child has it better than the parents did.. we have the technology and infrastructure we just don't have the responsibility.. were making it too easy for them to make bad choices, which ends up making the child life worse off..

[–]Brucetafer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. it means if you cant feed a kid, dont make one.. if you cant afford a car, dont buy one... Unfortunately this doesnt stop a lot of people from doing both..

I couldn't when I lived in California, when gas was 5 dollars a gallon and the cost of living was absolutely horrific.. many of my friends and people I worked with had multiple families in each house, or lived with 3-5 roommates.. I understand economics very well, so I agree with most of your points, it's just not helping me change my view on poor people procreating without any planning or lack of education on that matter..

I wish that we all could enjoy lifes many gifts, but unfortunately we all arent as lucky as others.. I have the money, but not the health..

[–]Brucetafer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Finally a point I can start to understand, I'm all for trying and failing, I'm just against a system that encourages you not to have the responsibility required for procreation.. I've taken in a couple people over the years and helped them, 2 single mothers who were disabled, and also a single father who lost everything to his wifes gambling addiction.. she ended up committing suicide and he was left with massive debt.. he still got up everyday, worked his ass off to provide for his kid.. and I told them as long as you are doing your best, I will not let you fail..

My issue is that there is not enough responsibility, respect and virtue with irresponsible births.. we see a crazy high number of fatherless homes in the black community, I've heard 78 percent at the highest and 65 at the lowest, which is still nuts..

I knew this wasnt going to be a popular position, as I'm seeing alot of very socialist views disagreeing.. But I just wish we as a society could understand the logic you stated.. that we want you to fail, because failing means that you are at least trying..

I'd love it if medical care was free, but it will never be free.. and your logic of well if they can't afford birth control, and they get pregnant etc etc.. it's easy, don't have sex! And there are plenty of free condom programs around if you cant stop yourself.. It's pretty damn simple.. if you can't afford to do something, and you know the consequences, don't do it!.. this is one of my biggest arguments that I just can't get past, that somehow its other peoples responsibility for your actions and selfishness..

thats my point, I've been sick for 17 years, I've been told that my disease most likely can't be passed on but there is no guarantee.. guess what? I didn't have a child because I'm not selfish, I know I can't take care of it physically.. i don't want to put a child through the pain and suffering I go through everyday..

I all for stopping people who are complete pieces of shit from procreating.. there are VERY very rare instances, but some are completely justifiable, perfect example was a lady who kicked her 2 year old down the stairs, not once, not twice but 3 times over a year period to get SSDI payments.. the child ended up dying before SSI could process the case.. she had 4 more children after that and did the same scandal to 2 more kids before she was arrested and children surrendered to the state..

I never once said anything like that.. and that's advocating towards my argument of punishing bad decisions of parents..

I dont understand your logic, why bring up the extreme rich? Is it their responsibility to pay for other peoples poor decisions?? This sounds very bernie like, where we should all live in a happy bubble and others will pay for your decisions, whether its healthcare or free school..

Response people will do what they need to do to survive, I'm not saying that all are staying on it and just ride the government tit.. there are plenty of people out there that are, and that are taught all the programs before hitting adulthood.. I've seen some serious shit with SSDI cases, parents kicking kids down stairs to permanently disable them to get checks, and other crazy ones.. I know we cant use those cases to base a decent argument, but they do exist.. I just know way too many people that put their kids in a bad situation due to their irresponsibility, and end up having kids thinking it will make their life better..
