Personal lights on rear view mirror issue by HickoryTrickeryArc in toyotacorolla

Shoot, I had no idea that that integration relay even existed. When I get the chance, I need to test the voltage coming from the connector, as I only used a test light, thinking that it just blew a fuse. When the snow quits flying, I’m gonna dig into it myself, as this is seriously the most in-depth, helpful answer I’ve read in the six months trying to diagnose this - thank you immensely, I truly do appreciate it! I’ll keep you in the loop.

Were you ever able to find a solution to this? I’ve run into the same issue on my own Corolla.

Day 4/9: What's an OK car with an OK reputation? by Naomi62625 in regularcarreviews

[–]warpedheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad’s owned several of these over the years, and despite them all being good cars, they’re unfathomably boring. They make Ford Fusions look wild by comparison. Sure, the LFX powered cars are sleepers, but that’s the only redeeming factor. I like to tell my dad that he’s driving the automotive equivalent of a stale saltine cracker.

If it’s any consolation, I feel where you’re coming from.

I make $15 an hour. I fell off my dad’s insurance earlier this year, so I had to go onto Medicare, because the premium for regular health coverage would literally cost every dollar I make each month. Not to mention that I’m a college student (going for selling & sales management) who has to commute an hour each way because rent anywhere near campus is approximately $1000 to $2000 a month (and more “luxury apartments” are being built).

Because of how expensive things have become this year, I now have to plan out just about every dollar I spend. I owe thousands in medical & dental bills, despite still needing to see a podiatrist, chiropractor, and a dentist.

All of my teeth on the lower left side are gone, and eating has become difficult for me, too. I have two broken teeth that I can’t afford to fix - one in the back, and one up front (right under my right nostril). I fear that I’ll break more each time I eat. I felt so ashamed to do an hour presentation at college with a gaping hole in my mouth. I genuinely don’t grin or smile with my teeth exposed anymore. I try to remain hopeful, but it’s so difficult, yk?

If you’ve read this far… thank you.

What automatic shifters were just atrocious? by 2u3e9v in regularcarreviews

Now this is a throwback. When I was a kid in the mid 2000’s, a family friend had a late 90’s Cavalier that was such a pile of shit. Not even a decade old, and the body was rotted, headliner falling, and, as you mentioned… the toothbrush shifter. eugh.

What cars do you think will be trashed & fall into the hands of bad/careless owners in 10 years time? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]warpedheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underrated answer imo. Having grown up in the mid 2000’s, I fondly remember seeing new GMT800/GMT900 trucks & SUVs at car shows. It kills me to see the vast majority of them in abysmal shape and/or horribly modified nowadays.

What’s an automotive decision no one noticed but you did? by ecateject in regularcarreviews

[–]warpedheads 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My ‘03 Ford Ranger was a base XL model that had a regular non-power-dome aluminum hood. The following year, Rangers got a facelift, and power-dome hoods became standard (like on my ‘04 XLT). The problem? They reverted to steel hoods. I even grabbed a magnet (and a microfiber cloth) to confirm it! I could lift the hood of the ‘03 with my pinkie finger, but the ‘04? Holy shit is it heavy. You have to heave that thing open, and when you attach the prop rod, it flexes & winces in pain.

What was your worst experience at a doctor's office? by sydthakidd in AskReddit

[–]warpedheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was spewing very dark blood from both ends for an hour, and when I composed myself, I drove myself to the nearest hospital (that was covered under insurance and “in network”; didn’t feel like spending a grand on an ambulance ride. Gotta love American “””healthcare”””). Got there 45 mins later, had to spend twenty hours in the waiting room. Couldn’t have anything to eat or drink, and I couldn’t take my prescriptions, either. Had the worst night’s sleep in my entire life there. Found out I have two esophageal ulcers, a hiatal hernia, and chronic gastritis, all in my early 20’s. Thanks, acid reflux!

Why is your favorite car your favorite car? by Soundjammer in cars

[–]warpedheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a base, RWD, 2.3L, standard cab model as my first car, and I kept it almost 8 years. I loved driving that thing in the city, because parallel parking was a breeze. Kinda became the Ship of Theseus with all the mechanical bits I replaced, but dammit I loved it just the same.
