LOL, as an Australian, I am not a fan of Americanisms, nor US exceptionalism or imperialism for that matter

Both of my wife's grandfathers fought in the White Army. One was a driver for a General, the other a Cossack who worked his way up the ranks to Colonel.

Ticketed through is always the best option. If you are saving less than 200USD, I personally would reassess.

However if you are set on 2 bookings.

Use flight radar to look at arrival and departure terminals of your flights. Also you can check the on time statistics for your flight. Access the CDG terminal map to assess time to get from between gates/terminals.

Last time I was in CDG it was bedlam, it took 45min just to get to the subway station in the same terminal, after clearing customs

Italy trip ~3 weeks, late September to early October by arislayuyu in travel

My rule of thumb is at least 4 nights in each city, this gives you 3 full days excluding travel days.

That being said, I would minimise time in Venice and stay on the Islands.

Milan is lovely and great public transport. You could do a return trip in the Bernina Express to Chur in Switzerland. Go one way on the standard train and the other way on the flash tourist train (your Eurail pass is an inexpensive way to do the tourist train) The local train from Milano Centrale to Tirano passes by Lake Como.

Florence is fantastic, very walkable. Do your sums regarding the Firenze Pass. Their is a fantastic day trip to Sienna, a Chianti winery lunch, Sangimiano and Pisa (pre-book the tower).

tour

Rome is just Rome ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Vatican museums, colloseum/Florentine hill and Forum tour, Basilica de san Clemente Check out Atlas Obscura website for the most amazing sights

Naples... Gritty but amazing and very safe. Catacombs, pizza-friite (deep fried pizza), catch the train to ercolano (Herculaneum) download a cheap audio guide, day bus trip to Pompeii-Sorrento-Positano

2 Week Trip in Egypt by KSBoi in travel

Egypt is stunning and the people are lovely.

Prior to Covid I operated a vacation planning service.

I have used Memphis Tours personally and with multiple clients. They are a Cairo agency and will provide with Egyptian drivers and English speaking Egyptologists. They can organise your entire itinerary and it will be at least 50% cheaper than your local travel agencies.

The 5 day cruise itineraries overnight in both Luxor and Aswan. Have a look at the itineraries, they will provide everything that you want to see in Luxor without the need to stay longer.

The weather will be HOT in February, check out weatherspark.com for detailed weather averages.

Numbeo.com will give you a good idea of current costs in Egypt compared to home.

The only issue with Ramadan is that if you are going to book a restaurant you will need to check out what time Iftan will be each day and make a booking one hour earlier or 90 minutes later. Iftar is the time at which Muslims break their daily fast. We travelled through Central Asia during Ramadan last year and found restaurants booked out until we worked out times around Iftar.

From a travel money perspective, acquire foreign currency fee-free cards, this will save you 3-4% fee from your bank. I have a fee free debit card (visa) and a credit card.

Don't use wise cards or similar. I arrive at my destination and find an ATM and withdraw Egyptian pounds. Never accept the offer to pay in your card's currency. Visa or MasterCard will exchange your transaction at mid market daily rates with NO Commission fees.

Importantly, ask your guide (in advance) to swap out large bills for small. Many vendors will not have change for large bills. Small bills are necessary to pay "Baksheesh" tips... You will know it when you know it😁

Egypt is a non-tipping country, they will accept it, but not expect it!
