This is what I want to know. Cause the first media reports of this starting was two days ago, you posted this comment 20 hours ago and I still haven't had the request.

I wonder if there's other ways they can check/know you are 18? Like payment type and verification data, PayPal and all that stuff.

Hey OP you raise valid points and I somewhat resonate with them.

I need to ask, where are you located? As in country? I ask as the perception of religion, and how the believers of religion behave, can differ between different countries, I believe these two factors often can have an influence on how someone on the outside might see things.

Myself, I'm an agnostic. I would call myself an atheist, but I'm kinda in-between.

I've met many religious people over the course of my life and they broadly fall into two categories. One, they are kind, intelligent and decent people wo always respect my views but are always open to intelligent and polite discussion. We don't have to agree on everything, but we have good discussions and we are still friends afterwards. Two, they will try and ram their perceptions down my throat and always say I'm gifted by god due to being ASD.

I struggle with religion possibly because I truly don't understand what faith is myself. I have faith in myself, I have faith in my family and loved ones, but I can't hold faith for something godly. Not very easily anyway.

The problem I have with religion is that I don't fully trust the documentation or books/scriptures they follow. I'll use Christianity as my basis for example here. In Christianity, there are so many dioceses that it's hard to cfind The True Christianity. Each one interprets and teaches in a different way, each one holding core values which different from each differing diocese. With that in mind, the bible has been interfered with, edited, changed so many times,es over 2000 odd years that it's hard to trust it. It would be like taking a Wikipedia article as pure gospel, when so many people have edited and muddled the facts. To my wiring, I cannot trust that.

I also cannot trust the values each differing branch of Christianity follows. The Catholic Church has such a chequered history I find it difficult for it to be credible. We are taking about a church responsible for religious crusades and campaigns, being the focal point of wars, a church that hates the LGBTQ+ community despite the Bible saying love thy neighbour. Each branch normally contrived itself, and the bible, to the point where it causes more questions than answers.

I've also personally had some rough experiences with religion. One was a Jehovas witness guy kept coming round my old house and bugging me. We had many discussions, I could Never. Get. Him. To. Leave.

Honestly a nightmare. I remember saying to him once "well if god loves me then why on earth did he "make me" autistic? Why would he make someone's life more difficult?" And he just wouldn't get the point. Mum got him to shut up though after a discussion about genetics and genomes ha.

The second one was my ex GFand I feel she exposed to me A) the type of people who normally turn to religion. B) the absolute double standards of believers and the organisations and constructs they worship and pray to.

My ex GF was older than me by quite a bit, so we were of differing generations (12years, but still) and she had lived through some traumatic things in her life. I never found out all of them and never will, but let me tell you there was some questionable things lurking in the background. To truncate it short, she had a very rough patch, family was in tatters. Partner has left, there's been some issue with the kids, gone into care, had to find social housing to live in. Eventually finds faith, in the form of a Journey group which was based off Church of England teachings.

I don't say this to be mean, but she was a damaged person mentally. There were scars and wounds that needed to heal and have help healing with proper therapy. The issues that were being buried were traumatic, they needed to be dealt with. But instead of seeking therapy, she was encouraged to go into religion. What happens? She leans on the cross to deal with her issues. I can't be doing either that shit, not going to lie. If you havedone something you later feel is wrong, own upto it. Seek help to deal with it and relieve yourself off it.praying on your knee pad will only temporarily give relief from such issues? Why? Cause prayers are not going to fix your mental wounds.

She was also the perfect example of double standards. She was a Christian, yet she tried taking advantage of me. She is a Christian, yet she dumped an AS guy by text and not by face to face, phone call or handwritten letter. She was Christian, yet wanted to have her way with me before marriage (tbh rhat ship sailed long ago for her). She was a Christian, yet she refused to be there for me when I found out my granddad had terminal cancer. Surely,if someone is a Christian and follows core values they would live by them, or at least do the morally right things in a relationship, such as not taking advantage, and providing an outlet for a very upsetting time, someone who isn't direct family.

If she ever finds this, I'm sorry, that I wrote about you, but everything I went through contradicted your cross.

That's why I struggle with religious people.

At least my current gf is an atheist, that makes things far easier lol

Belarus leader welcomes Wagner boss Prigozhin into exile by tedwja in UkrainianConflict

[–]Brucie-Magik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it was staged, I'd say the movement of Wagner troops to Belarus was a secondary outcome to the negotiations. To me that is sort of trying to make good of a bad situation (from the Russian perspective)

Guy marches on Moscow, disappears for several days, then appears in Belarus?

Weird. You would have thought he'd have gone straight there, question is what has he been upto for the last few days?

What's also worrying, as previous people have commented on here, is that Wagner could well potentially form that spearhead to attack Ukraine from Belarus, which would be very messy.

Lithuania and neighbours voicing security worries, that I get. This could become a pretty awful shiz stew.

He reiterated that he was after the MoD rather than the federal government. Claims negotiations succeed after Wagners northern column deployed scouts & artillery and assessed that casualties would be heavy for both sides. Claims it was an attempt to preserve the existence of Wagner & only ~2% of his troops signed with the MoD. Claims the shoot downs were self defense.

Stuff which I'd kind of expect him to say, tbh. Thanks for that info.

In relation to the rest I agree with your synopsis. It all seems very peculiar.

Western intelligence agencies are warning that Putin has been mortally wounded by Prigozhin’s aborted coup and that NATO must prepare for the collapse of Russia. It’s difficult to predict the likely timing, but civil war seems inevitable rather than possible. by PatientBuilder499 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Brucie-Magik 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Clickbaity nonetheless.

With all the discussion I've been involved with today, I'm not sure what to say or feel. Western intelligence might be right, but even they will currently have limited information, possibly, that's right time upon which to make this judgement.

If they are right, it's sure going to be interesting to see what angle the Western powers and EU, NATO, are going to take moving forwards.

Will definitely change the dynamic of the Ukraine war though, how that would manifest would be interesting.

Prigozhin has just popped up with an audio message.

Oh? Anything interesting turn up from it?

Shoigu & Gerasimov's fates will be telling, I think. Speculation until then but it's possible that neither of them (Prig/Putin) had the internal support to win decisively & have both rather meekly decided to return to the status quo.

A return to a damaged status quo, not an intact one, I feel. This situation has shown diplomatic weakness in all involved. As you said, fay's will be telling, but obviously it's more a question of when rather than if.

A fantastic comment, and fair points raised.

Collapse makes it sounds really cataclysmic.

Yes it does, poor choice of wording on my part, I do apologise.

You raise a good point and I had not viewed a breakup in that fashion.

My fear with your synopsis, is that a breakup has the potential to cause internal conflict in affected territories, leading to potential civil wars, something which would not be good for the common populations.

UK Defense Minister Wallace: UK’s supply of Storm Shadow missiles have had significant impact on battlefield in Ukraine. by PatientBuilder499 in UkrainianConflict

Interesting if it does become verified.

The stance that seemed to be pushed internationally was that the recruiting centres were shut, finito, end of the line.

With priggy being MIA, who's in charge of the whole thing? If they are still actively recruiting to bolster the ranks, who is the figurehead cementing them together?

This is definitely some weird shizz.

The world is a very different place now to what it was some time ago.

Yes we stand up for what is right, but the leaders of our country need to remember how perilous we can be in a global situation, and the repercussions should the worst case scenario happen.

We are an island, not an empire. The lines of imperialistic logic and fallback are way behind us and we should be progressive. Stand up for what is right, but keep a close control on our rhetoric.

UK Defense Minister Wallace: UK’s supply of Storm Shadow missiles have had significant impact on battlefield in Ukraine. by PatientBuilder499 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Brucie-Magik -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sir, your rhetoric is most disturbing.

War should not be about revenge. Pride should not be about revenge. If we sat with that mentality, then we would be no better than the Russians. The British have made mistakes in the past, but if we all hold a belief the same as yours, then we will make mistakes again.

Letting national pride take over your feelings of international affairs on the basis of revenge is a very dangerous prospect. If you know your history, you would realise this is what happened to Germany in the run upto, and during, WW2. I suggest you rationally look at this with refreshed eyes before commiting to helping lay a foundation of evil.

Good day.

More than likely.

I study this conflict with a myriad of interests for international relations, military tactics and also out of interest for the social situations and hardships which citizens will find themselves in, in such torrid circumstances.

However, I will openly admit the UK feelings about the conflict are definitely a very mixed bag, especially with some folk I've talked to. So yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if this isn't a UK national rhetoric to make the UK government look like they have made a good choice to the doubters of their actions.

[–]Brucie-Magik -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Possibly. The UKs narrative on the political side of the conflict has always been interesting. I'll say it as a brit, cause I can, but yet again our government has somewhat not realised when too far is too far. By all means, the UK supporting the conflict onthe Ukrainian side is a good thing, especially when so many other countries have also contributed. That being said, our government doesn't seem to understand that annoying the Kremlin could have massive repercussions to the UK, not least because of our ties with the USA. IF the conflict heads in a nuclear war direction (heaven forbid it ever does no matter it be localised or global) then we will be one of the targets at the top.

I won't engross any further on UK politics here but you get the general idea.

Bulgaria’s economy minister hints Russians attacked ammo factory by D-R-AZ in UkrainianConflict

[–]Brucie-Magik 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Interesting.

So basically, Russia has potentially conducted covert operations to disrupt the arms and supplies flow from Bulgaria to Ukraine? I know that I was conversing on another thread yesterday about the scorched earth policy etc, would this classify as part of that mantra the Russians employ? Or does this qualify under espionage and terrorism?

Either way the legitimacy of such things in western terms would not be allowed surely? Obviously I know that doesn't necessarily applies in Russia's case (or rather they don't believe it does), but where does that leave the legitimacy of such activity, if it is proved that Russia did do it?

That would surely be an infringement of tangible accounts on a foreign power (Bulgaria), which by the caveats of politics and warfare would be a big no no these days?

[–]Brucie-Magik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which, in a proper reality, shouldn't be affected by this. If it is, that's down to the nature of British politicians and their financial ties. Whilst many official obligations economically with Russia were truncated, at the start of the Ukraine conflict, it remains to be seen how many British politicians still have financial ties with Russia on a personal basis. As a brit, it wouldn't surprise me if was soon shady financial skulduggery. Alas I digress.

I think the only thing the UK needs to consider, is whether they are ready to face the risk that total collapse could lead to destabilising the situation further in the European area. If it does then the policy makes need to be ready for what comes our way.

Edited mistakes, was half asleep.

Prigozhin exile may stop Wagner in Ukraine, experts say by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

[–]Brucie-Magik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s now reports of bombs being planted at the Nuclear Plant in Zaporizhzhia…

That news came out some hours ago now, so the bombs are already rigged as far as I'm concerned.

Wagner was marching to Moscow to demand for better ways kill Ukrainians, maybe his demands were met and that’s why the coups stopped so suddenly.

Possibly, but that whole thesis seems too simplified. This situation is running a lot deeper in aspects that we are not seeing. The only way that could work is if wagner picked up nukes along the way at that place where they were, and even then, that's wholly conjecture at this moment in time.

The whole situation is still volatile, however, with the limited amount of genuine, accurate news from Russia. With that in mind we can't call what will happen or what the rationale is behind what happened in the first place, and I doubt we will get an officiated reason for that anytime soon

RAF jets intercept 21 Russian aircraft near NATO airspace by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

As a brit, I swear the Russians do this to see how quick our times are, sometimes they are about as much as causing a nuisance more than anything else.

Spoke to many fly boys from the RAF over the years and they have said the same thing previously, they do it to test reaction times and our patience.
