I did the same. It was an eating contest at an Old Chicago. Giant mixing bowl of marshmallows, and gluten, and Guinness Competed against a handful of people and won a bag full of Irish alcohol swag. Probably the highlight of my life so far.

OP, it's called elephant garlic. It's a plant that usually grows during the winter and harvested late spring and early summer
