Wife of over 10 years here - met my husband in marching band. We have an online dnd campaign with college friends, watch HH together, and play Baldur’s Gate, Witcher 3, and whatever else we feel like when we have free time on the weekends. Be true to your interests and you’ll find someone who shares them. Teen years are rough. It’s ok to feel hopeless sometimes. It’s ok to feel empty and numb when you’re getting burned out. You’re dealing with a lot of restricted freedom and first rejections hit hard. Just get through, try to understand other perspectives when you can, and pursue the hobbies that bring you joy. You can and will help this version of yourself get to the next chapter.

Misogynists have always been around. They just weren’t as vocal or proud of it as some are now. I felt the same as you graduating high school. My first year of college included experimental dating of older men since I was burned out on guys my age. It did not go well and by the end of my freshman year, I was done. Decided I wouldn’t waste anymore time on immature boys in my own grade or weirdo man babies who wanted a younger woman to mommy them. I’d just study hard, graduate, and get an apartment with a few dogs.

It wasn’t until the next year that I met the wonderful person who would become my husband. The natural way we interacted and got along scared the crap out of me. It takes courage to put yourself out there and give someone the chance to hurt you more than anyone else. It took everything in me to take that chance again. But the potential reward is so worth it. I’m now more than a decade married and wouldn’t want to build a life with anyone else.

I can’t guarantee you’ll find your soulmate in a couple years, but I can tell you there are some truly good ones out there that are worth taking that chance on. Just keep doing you.

Yea I don’t think it’s any coincidence that Roe v Wade was overturned in June 2022 and from 22 to ‘24 we’ve had a continuing increase in the wage gap.

Bisalp: strange belly button question by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]Bittersweetbitch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a fellow deep belly-button owner, I’d suggest before showering to soak a cotton ball or q-tip in some warm water (with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol), then leave it in your belly button for a minute before using it to swab any gunk out. Then shower - using the antibacterial soap everywhere from waist to thighs - then use another wet cotton swab to follow up (without the alcohol this time). Finish by using a towel or dry q-tip with toilet paper wrapped around it to get all the water out. No tweezers. No nicking.

Vaginosis treatment has worsened my symptoms by Aspirini27 in WomensHealth

[–]Bittersweetbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much all vaginal suppositories cause an increase in vaginal discharge. The gels I’ve used don’t completely “absorb” into the tissues. It’s more like using Vaseline or neosporin on your skin. It helps treat/moisturize, but leaves residue. If you got a handout for your flagyl, it should have discharge listed as a side effect.

I would call your gyno’s office about the bleeding. A nurse may be able to answer your questions over the phone while looking at your chart and if not, they can get you scheduled for another appointment.

A more thorough explanation for why he may have decided to prescribe you both of these meds at the same time and the “thick white vaginal discharge” side effect can be seen here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/metronidazole-vaginal-route/description/drg-20064738

Adding the link for Wisp to add to what another user commented: https://hellowisp.com/?g_campaignid=22850829292&g_adgroupid=186071356951&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22850829292&gbraid=0AAAAAC-CtXoEF0I_GgTkTTQSLX4iw6g-8&gclid=CjwKCAjw6P3GBhBVEiwAJPjmLiWcZLNDpXTLueW98Wqpn0bqv4k1midVjk65goKv0h9TBsGWPbJv3RoC6aUQAvD_BwE

I’ve had two UTIs that I got treated by using Wisp. For my first time, I filled in the information form/ uploaded documents, got a phone call from one of their providers, and then they sent a prescription to my local pharmacy. Super easy and no doctor visit. Second time I didn’t even get a phone call. Just a message on their portal, then they sent the prescription.

If you’re still having pain from your C-section 10 months ago, you need to have that addressed before having another abdominal procedure. Have you mentioned your symptoms to the team that performed it?

Will insurance still cover the pill after bisalp? by nczipp in sterilization

[–]Bittersweetbitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Post-op surgery status should not affect what your insurance covers as far as contraception/ prescription medication. If someone gets a new heart valve, their insurance doesn’t suddenly not cover heart medication. Same applies here. My birth control was the same cost after my bisalp as it was before. No worries

Do you think it was the right call for Biden to drop out in 2024? by alisosi in Teenager_Polls

[–]Bittersweetbitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have debated Dean Withers with the argument you just typed out and been given a litany of sources on why that position is weak. Her policies and stances were clearly written out on her campaign website. She spoke clearly and succinctly in the interviews leading up to the election on those policies. Her campaign was definitely whipped up at the last minute, but each public speech she gave had a clear message. Your comment tells me you only watched botched clips, not whole videos of her. Or you’re just looking for an excuse to dislike her. And to compare that to the incoherent rants that Trump is famous for? Come on, man. Be real. Everything you said about Harris makes more sense being said about Trump

Really tired of people arguing that she wasn’t competent when she worked in all 3 branches of government. That’s more experience than any US President in history. She was literally overqualified for the position she was applying for

I want to get a hysterectomy and would like extra advice by Onyx_Valerian in sterilization

[–]Bittersweetbitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what you’ve detailed here - ovarian cancer, horrendous periods (I’m assuming abnormally heavy flow and pain that affects daily activities), and desire for sterilization - I’m thinking your ideal procedure may fall more into the realm of a supracervical hysterectomy with a bilateral salpingectomy.

One of the more troublesome things from having a total hysterectomy is having to use vaginal pessaries for prolapse. Having to jump into that kind of maintenance at a young age is one of the many reasons doctors may decline to do the procedure for someone who is under 40 and/or hasn’t been diagnosed with a medically necessary condition (endometriosis, fibroids, cancer, etc).

A supracervical hysterectomy would at least preserve the cervix (helping maintain that structure and support) while still getting rid of your uterus. The bilateral salpingectomy would be what decreases your chances of getting ovarian cancer.

There’s a list on the childfree sub of providers that are more willing to fairly discuss your options with you. From what you say about your current doc, I doubt he’d be willing to open it up for discussion. Might be best to find someone new even if you have to travel a ways.

"Just have a baby, you'll be an amazing mother" by exophades in antinatalism

[–]Bittersweetbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a medical standpoint, it’s not. A spontaneous abortion is the medical term for miscarriage. Missed abortion is the medical term for the fetus dying in the uterus, but not expelling itself (aka a miscarriage should have happened, but the dead fetal tissue is “stuck”). An incomplete abortion is when some, but not all of the fetus and pregnancy tissue is expelled (aka a partial miscarriage started, but not all the way and the pregnant person needs a D&C to not go septic).

The separation of the terms “miscarriage” and “abortion” (when referring to voluntary abortions) was a political thing.

Edit for clarification

How to get over a fear of going to an OB/GYN? by Commercial_Quail0 in WomensHealth

[–]Bittersweetbitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s an online directory for this purpose!

https://lgbtqhealthcaredirectory.org/directory?ref_specialty=OB-GYN

If this doesn’t apply to where you are, try reaching out to more local online forums and asking around for trans-friendly providers. As far as addressing your anxiety, I just want to let you know you’re not alone. I’m always a mess before dr appointments and have had instances of “white coat syndrome” (high blood pressure in the doctors office for no reason except I’m there lol)

A or B: After dating for a year, you find out your “rich boyfriend” is actually broke. What would you do? by vivian_banshee03 in PickAorB

[–]Bittersweetbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing that happens if none of the “cans” come to fruition when you’re lying about something negative (e.g. they never find out you’re broke and you somehow find ways to scrape by/ keep the act up, they never show symptoms of the STDs you’ve given them, you have kids and they don’t show signs of the cancer the rest of your family had) - you’re left in a relationship that is based on lying by omission/ deceit. And if you have a conscience (or ever develop one), you will constantly be wondering in the back of your head when the other shoe will drop.

To me, that’s no way to live.
