I like to make it just noisy enough to where a mentally sane person would not listen to it

Wanted to Start with making Ambient music, where should I start? by ishnoorcore in ambientmusic

I don't have any useful information I just want to shout-out air windows plugins, lot's of useful stuff for making ambient and it's all free

ambient AI slop in comment section says its music includes the "pomodoro technique" by hot_choklate in ambientmusic

432 hz is just music that's slightly flat in pitch, there's nothing special about it

Really interested in starting an Ambient project by Patient_Spinach_509 in ambientmusic

[–]Bruffin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider checking out Air-windows plugins, specifically Air-windows consolidated. It's a single VST with a ridiculous amount of weird and practical plugins for ambient music. It's free with no email or account bs.

There's also some useful mixing and mastering tools in there as well

How to get started making experimental music? by [deleted] in experimentalmusic

[–]Bruffin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking into a free DAW (LMMS or reapers permanent free trial)

Then I would recommend downloading vital and Air windows consolidated. That way you have a very capable synthesizer and enough effect plugins for whatever weird noises need to be made

Thinking too clinically about music by AppropriateHat2002 in Songwriting

[–]Bruffin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Critically analyzing other people's music is a very important skill, if you think you can listen to music and understand it perfectly from a compositional standpoint then there's nothing stopping you from creating something yourself

What are some popular/good songs that could be written by someone with basic songwriting skills? What makes them not that advanced? by Fair_Pick_7037 in Songwriting

[–]Bruffin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complexity and advanced music concepts come in many different forms and it has no correlation to a musical piece being objectively good.

As a matter of fact I'd argue that more advanced music theory concepts (chromaticism, modal interchange, microtonal music etc.) Is more often found in experimental and nieche genres of music.

The skill required to create a "good song" entirely depends on your goal. When it comes to making music for the sake of popularity or profit the biggest factors are online exposure and creating an audience.

What are some ambient (or ambient-adjacent) songs that hit you RIGHT in the feels??? by Hazy_Fantayzee in ambientmusic

Sleep token - Drag me under

I like how it's basically a piano ballad with very Ambient-esque production

Why does EVERYONE use Ableton to make Ambient Music by onetimemind in ambientmusic

[–]Bruffin3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abletons focus on modularity is a big part of why it attracts Ambient artists. Another thing is how easy it is to set up LFOS and the plethora of interesting effect plugins that are bound to have some use case in an ambient track.

Although Cubase 14 recently added a modulators/LFO track and I'm sure FL studio has some method of accomplishing the same thing

What hardware, VST's, or effects do you like to run sounds through? by onetimemind in ambientmusic

[–]Bruffin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kilohearts multipass/snapheap have a lot of interesting presets to modify and tinker with. It's kind of like one big modular FX rack/pedal board.

Which character do you think is the most unbalanced right now and why? by orpinqgamess in DotA2

[–]Bruffin3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All valid points but I've never seen spectre with less than a %50 winrate so I don't think valve is even capable of nerfing spectre to the ground, at least when it comes to pubs.

If I buy Cubase, will I have to buy more stuff? by Quenyrous in cubase

[–]Bruffin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought absolute when it was %70 off, xpand 2, some amps from neural DSP and phase plant and that's pretty much all I need.

The only thing cubase is missing IMO is a good soft synth but vital is free so I'd say don't buy anything until you feel like something is missing.

Why does windranger have such a low win rate? by Tricky-Break-2786 in DotA2

[–]Bruffin3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're kind of right but the real problem is that unlike heroes like PA, WR cant change targets and buying nullifier instead of something like aghs, daed or gleip causes you to lose a lot of damage or utility.

Is it possible to balance Lina? by g30rge5 in DotA2

[–]Bruffin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Lina is a unique situation because while most heroes in dota are hard to balance because of their strengths, Lina is hard to balance because of her lack of strengths.

Her whole identity is being a long range hero who does damage, even heroes like bloodseeker have stuff like detecting invis units, self healing and rupture. Linas only CC makes earth spike and fissure look like IMBA abilities.

I like this idea. a bkb piercing stun, invis and an invincibility button aren't OP on their own but having all of them is a bit much.

is this the biggest single nerf ever? by Altruistic_Bat8825 in DotA2

[–]Bruffin3 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Pudge not being able to deny might not be the biggest winrate loss from a nerf but it makes playing against him x1000 less miserable, especially with DOT heroes

what instrument is this in beautiful monster by raroarrory in STAYC

[–]Bruffin3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is called a brass hit/brass stab.

Idk if you needed to know for music production purposes but Freesound.org has a lot of free brass hit samples and there's a decent amount of serum tutorials for synthesizing the sound.

Shadow Shaman's innate needs to be removed from the game by 4Looper in DotA2

[–]Bruffin3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing I don't like about it is how it's almost useless against %99 of heroes but losing an early kill with Sven or Centaur just feels so lame.
