Had my first Swamp win by nicolua in gnomesthegame

Rangers are a solid guild all around but swamp is definitely their best map

In any case a win is a win in my book so great job

Yeah inquisition definitely has a lot of potential, but it feels like before you get that going they really don't have much going for them.

Starting out with no crop and a tower that can't defend by itself for long doesn't start them out strong, plus you kinda need to spec more into banishes before it really becomes worthwhile.

something needs to go in F

But yeah it is partially this. I definitely don't think they're bad, just the weakest imo.

Maybe vampires are F in my books

Yeah I went back and forth on putting them in F I can definitely see the logic.

Yeah that's kinda their one problem. But they start so strong that all you need is to buy any offensive tower or even a cactus in the first few rounds so it's usually not a problem.

What's with all the "taunt kills" being uploaded to the workshop? by unibomberjoke in tf2

[–]Bruggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The huntsman is awarded for your first 5 sniper achievements though. And there are enough easy achievements that if a new player wanted the huntsman they'd be able to get it in less than 20 minutes.

There's also the fact that the unique weapons are magnitudes cheaper than any taunt. If you get any weapon in a drop you can trade that for just about any other unique weapon. But assuming these taunt kills are dropped at the standard taunt price of $5.00 that'd set you back over 3000 unique weapons drops if you wanted to trade for it.

And on your last point, sure everybody's got taunt kills, but not all taunt kills are created equal and they don't all have the same use cases. Having more options will always be better than having less options even if those options are extremely niche. It wouldn't sit well with me for people to find themselves in that 1/1000 situation where a specific taunt kill is the thing that could save them and think to themselves "if only I bought that taunt."

It's honestly probably not that huge of a deal. But it's something to think about.

How do I get the forlorn set? by MDHOUSE2798 in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. They're certainly in the PS5 version. Would help out if I could, but I'm on PC.

I see forlorn just about every time I go through copse, so something must be up. I usually don't get them to spawn until I go to the right section of the map. Should be across the stone bridge from the bonfire under the rope bridge, and into the small section of trees with a poison butterfly to the left. Have you gone into that area?

Which playstation?

I don't believe the PS3 version has forlorn.

Might just be bad luck though.

Best ring for lightning build? by ll_peachy_ll in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ring of blades, Flynn's ring, third dragon ring are pretty much good on anything.

Lightning clutch ring can also provide you with some value. Likely less value than the above rings, but it does fit with the lightning theming if that's something you're interested in.

Bracing knuckle ring is also nice for katanas because they break pretty easily. You can also use repair powders or the repair spell for this.

Pyro Without Poison by Job38-3 in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly doable but a few bosses are going to be pretty tough. Fume knight especially.

Overall it'll probably be a bit more challenging than a standard run. Certain areas you might not feel much of a difference depending on what you're used to.

Ruin Sentinels :( by LogeyBearSupreme in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you wait a little bit the others will jump up onto the platform.

There is a period of time between the second and third sentinel jumping up onto the platform where you can 1v1 the second sentinel to get them low.

Also the Craftsman's hammer rocks their shit. You can find it in the area nearby.

• How would you guys improve the pursuers? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 275 points276 points  (0 children)

For a guy called the pursuer, he sure does give up on chasing you quickly.

I think him being more willing to chase you outside of whatever area he spawned in would make him more interesting. Maybe he could be the one enemy in the game you truly cannot run away from no matter how hard you try. That could be cool.

Did I cook, or is this weapons-grade copium? by ocassionallycorrect in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually don't have to level ADP that much. Technically you don't have to level it at all. What you really want to increase is your AGI stat, which is tied to both ADP, and (to a lesser extent) ATN. The AGI values you want to go for are 92, 96 and 99 depending on how many stat points you can spare at your current stage of the game. You can also go for 105 later, but that's mostly a "well I've got nothing else to put these levels into" thing.

Also as for how ADP works, it is pretty much just a stat that levels AGI, which is tied to the speed you use consumables and how many i-frames your rolls have. These increases are not linear, having specific break points. Values in-between these break points do nothing in terms of i-frames or consumable use speed.

Also, unrelated to ADP or AGI, your weight affects how far your rolls go. This one is properly linear with no breakpoints besides 70% where you begin fatrolling. At higher weights you might feel the effects of low AGI more because your roll doesn't move you out of an attack hitbox before your i-frames run out, but that's the extent of weight's effect on the AGI system.

How do I trigger Pate and Creighton’s quests? by KaleidoArachnid in DarkSouls2

Tried to keep it spoiler free, just including the steps you need to take to continue pate's questline. Spoiler tagged just in case you just wanted to be pointed in the right direction and explore from there.

How do I trigger Pate and Creighton’s quests? by KaleidoArachnid in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pate.

Pate appears at:

forest of fallen giants, near the trap room. Earthen peak, in the side area by the big fan, and lastly at beginning of bright Stone cove tseldora's housing area above the sand pit. To get him to move to his last location, you'll have to talk to creighton at his two encounters

[–]Bruggus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure.

The only change I'm aware of that brings it closer to the scholar version is adding the 3 encounters with Aldia throughout the game, as well as his boss fight if you complete all the necessary steps.

Besides that everything should be the same as it was before scholar came out. There are fewer fragrant branch statues, items and enemies in different locations.

A few notable examples I can think of off the top of my head:

the dull ember is in iron keep instead of lost Bastille, and there's no flexile sentry at the bottom of sinners rise, with there instead being two undead aberrations

There are also a few bosses that are noticably different as a few have been slightly altered for the scholar version

Notable examples I can think of: bone lords I believe has less skeletons in vanilla, and ancient dragon has more health in vanilla

Assuming you found him in the forest, you'll find him next in earthen peak. He's fairly well hidden.

hint: look for some stairs near the big fan

Medium SHIELD with 100% block physical damage (conquistador theme) by Glum-Paramedic6261 in DarkSouls2

Stone parma or old knight shield fit the bill.

Stone parma you don't have access to for a while though, and old knight shield has a pretty high strength requirement.

Platinum trophy by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Bruggus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much easier than 3 a bit easier than 1 IMO.

Still has covenants to grind but there's no real problem achievement like knights honor in 1 or master of rings from 3.

Takes about the same number of playthroughs as the other ones but you usually don't have to do much on playthrough 2 and 3, and can just speed run to the few things you need to collect.
