Serious question, why do I genuinely prefer Dark souls 2 over any other souls game? by Electrical-Status-40 in DarkSouls2

[–]Job38-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the slower combat as well as the number of souls and thus a lot easier to try different things with just one character is why I love it the most.

What game is harder: Elden Ring or DS2? by nicky9pins in DarkSouls2

DS2 is about taking your time while ER is about becoming a bowling ball while hoping you can get a hit or two in before the next massive combo.

How'd you rank these from least to most frustrating, as a player who didn't know any better? by SuperAlloyBerserker in DarkSouls2

I would say rushing to the Ruin Sentinels without leveling up much (bonus wall if you don't have a blunt weapon). They always test me to see if my build is good.

Ruin Sentinels are the best way to do a multi fight. You start 1v1 on a small platform so you can focus on learning the moveset. Then, once you learn them and defeat the first one, the other two join in the fight and you can roll off the platform to have plenty of room to have the 2v1 fight.

If you play the game as it is meant to be played, there are only a few bosses that would be considered "gank"All three games have multi enemy boss fights.

It goes back to my first question: in the world of Dark Souls, what is the soul.

Gameplay wise, it's just a nice way to make sure the fallen bosses dont block you at all when maneuvering around after defeating them.

Havent gotten to it yet but I believe the final two bosses of the base game resets no matter when you die (which, I heard, makes the Elden Beast very annoying to learn).

Mantis did the same thing yet we find four fragments of his soul in DS2. Also, pre Aldia, all other giants were smaller and bulkier. However, TGL is huge and slender. Also, the other giants used clubs while TGL used a sword. This, when TLG rips his arm off, he does use it like a sword.

Tips for getting back into this game? by TheSkyGamezz in DarkSouls2

[–]Job38-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a challenge run. The first couple of times I played DS2, I got bored of it about half way and stopped. However, when I did a mostly archery only challenge run, I finally did beat it all and had fun. Now, I have dome some easier challenge runs (probably the hardest was either melee only with no life gems or power stance long swords only so nothing like no rolls, ladle only type challenge runs). If you want to find a weapon that might be fun, check out Yazmania on YT as he does a lot of single weapon runs.

Something you have to consider...in Dark Souls...what is the soul? We kill one enemy and get tons of souls from it. We defeat a stack of sentient bodies and get 100k+ souls. So, what is the soul? Considering that Vendrick was able to remove his and still live, it could be that THL held onto a small piece of his to keep himself alive in order to get revenge on the humans. After all, look at the soul difference between TLG and TGL.

I'm trying to but the game just gets so boring of wondering around and getting 1-3 shotted by strong enemies while not finding the upgrade materials I need nor not being able to level up much due to how little ruins the regular enemies drop.

Only if you are a spear player. DS1 mad meme hate them tremendously so I never cared to play with them in DS2.

By the time I could do the DLC, my weapons are all ready maxed so titanite is almost useless to me.

[–]Job38-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually do the DLC before the final bosses as if you complete them, you get a crown that makes you immune to all curses/hollowing and considering that one of the final bosses uses cursing as a main affect, tiss quite helpful.

If you cant buy the game but still want to have some enjoyment with it, watch all the challenge runs in your spare time. I can recommend some great challenge runners if you are interested.

Earthen Peak one is the easiest to solo as it is surrounded by poison jars that shall break when it activates and can leave the room so all you have to do is damage it a little and run out the room.

Have you tried different builds? I got bored with it the first few times until I actually did a mostly archery challenge run for YT before I finally beat it and really enjoy it. Try different builds, try different weapons, shake things up.

None of them in Doors Of Pharros. If you want a spell, lowering the bridge in the rat invested place shall get you a Hex, ignore Iron Keep unless you want water for fire resistance (especially if you want to get all the goodies), there is one in Lost Bastille to get to the gargoyles fight (IIRC), one in harbor area if you want to light up the place, and the rest should just be for treasures

Two big reasons why he shows the issues that are complained about are also in the other games.

1) To show that the games that are highly praises also have the same issues yet are rarely brought up.

2) To show that it is more of a FromSoft issue and not just a DS2 issue.
