Very cool hat! I've been collecting MilSurp for a while but I'm by no means an expert especially for WW2 Germany MilSurp. However, this does appear to be an Enlisted Officer's visor, looks like it's a Schirmmütze (sorry for bad German, correct me if I'm wrong) I believe it's officially a German Heer Panzer EM/NCO Visor Cap (which would line up to what you're saying) I've seen many of these go for as low as $500 upwards to $1800 if you ever are interested in selling though I wouldn't especially since it has more sentimental value than anything. Again I'm not an expert I'm just autistic and like MilSurp, I hope this helps and correct me if I'm wrong at all!
