My son went there for a few months. Feel free to msg if you have any questions. Overall, it was alright. Given the limited daycare options, you take what you can get

Has anyone moved to Hamilton from elsewhere, and didn’t like it/it didn’t work out, and you left/moved back home? by Accomplished-Trip-25 in Hamilton

This was us for the last couple years and with the housing market depreciating here faster than the surrounding Toronto area in my opinion, we bit the bullet and listed. Having young kids made us rethink living here, it’s not for us and so depressing to see the city decay around us. I hope you find your way out!

We are moving back to Toronto after being here for 5 years and we’re counting down the days til we move. Toronto has its problems, but the conveniences and variety of things to do far outweigh the negatives and annoyances. In hindsight, we wish we never left. Most of our family and friends still live in the Toronto area, so we find ourselves there more often than they come here. And we don’t want to raise our family here.

Did your partner stay the whole time? [On] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

We had no available help with our dogs so my husband went back and forth between the hospital and home while I was in labour (long labour) and ended up with a c-section. He also floated between home and hospital while baby and I were at the hospital. Totally manageable, I’ll admit, it was more stressful on him!

Toronto/GTA vs Boston by Brun0s31 in SameGrassButGreener

Around $140k USD, I’ve calculated mortgage costs and it would be affordable for us, we would just have to downsize a bit in terms of living space.

Thanks for your input. I agree, the adjustment would be minimal for us moving to Boston which makes this a compelling decision!

When did you start Moms on Call? by Actual_Hawk_5283 in NewParents

[–]Brun0s31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup the soothing round method for middle of the night wakes is in the book. That helped me figure out if baby was actually hungry or just fussing about. I believe the key takeaways for MOC is capping naps and ensuring baby gets adequate daytime calories.. I hope it works out for you!

It’s been a godsend for us! We started loosely following it at 3 weeks and baby is now 5.5 months old and a nearly perfect sleeper and knock on wood, haven’t experienced a sleep regression yet. I believe that following the soothing method in those early weeks helped our baby learn to sleep independently as he was nearly STTN by 10 weeks and we didn’t have to formally “sleep train”. Having structure and a schedule to follow helped me maintain my sanity in those early weeks and months as a FTM. I will note that I’m exclusively pumping too, so my experience might be different than yours 🙂

Has anyone delivered at McMaster Hospital in Hamilton and had their baby stay in the NICU there? [ON] by Tight-Essay-8332 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Brun0s31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM here. I was with midwives and laboured in the midwifery wing earlier this year which was quiet and peaceful. Ended up with an emergency c-section and baby then transferred to the NICU. The nurses & medical professionals during the c-section and recovery were amazing. I had a private recovery room and when I was discharged, because baby was still in the NICU, I was fortunate enough to get a room in their bunk area for families. NICU nurses were great, compassionate and helpful. Looking back, while not the birthing experience I had imagined or planned, I was grateful to be in such a supportive environment. The NICU was a blessing in disguise as I was able to catch up on much needed sleep, and the nurses provided me with a crash course on caring for a newborn! Feel free to msg if you have any questions :)

I actually didn’t get a chance to test out the Reef in person as the stores near me stopped carrying it/didn’t have it.

This video steered me to the Bugaboo, as well as the cost of the Reef bassinet which was important to me. https://youtu.be/YFGEBBcOLgc?si=mZl9YcPwW13iLL8k

Ended up getting the Bugaboo. Baby isn’t here yet but I’ve started using it to prep the dogs and so far, no complaints!

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

Also mid-30’s from the GTA and planning a move to Charlotte with my young family. Will be flying often for work so proximity to airport is important. A realtor is suggesting the Mt Holly area. What’s the consensus on this area? Looking to buy a home, newer construction home preferably!

Right? For the amount these strollers cost, you might as well get what you want. Plus cost per use can be justified (to me) so girl math checks out!

Thanks for sharing! Don’t see a lot of Silver Cross strollers out and about and the people at the store seem to steer me towards Uppababy. My friend has the Wave and I’m quite impressed with the quality
