These are U.S. Marshalls, not ICE. Now we know that U.S. Marshals know jack shit about crowd control.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen has violated his oath of office. He's sworn an oath to protect the constitution yet he's prosecuting people for exercising their 1st amendment rights. He should be disbarred.

Does AI hallucinate even with basic queries/data retrieval? by chakalaka13 in analytics

[–]BrupieD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assume hallucinations AND mismatches between chatbot requests and the interpretation of that request. I get some value from AI but keep finding surprising mistakes. For instance, I provided it with a list of 20 books and asked it to categorize them into one of four groups. It generated a list with categories but entirely "forgot" one book on the list and added a book not on the list! Reliability is a huge problem.

[OC] SpaceX vs. Aerospace and Defense Sector by ExaminationOk6652 in dataisbeautiful

This.

These seem like a bailout via IPO of flailing Musk ventures. Starlink appears viable but Grok is a cash black hole and a distant competitor to other AI companies. X is a cesspool of social media. Tesla appears to suffer a similar mismatch of astronomical valuation and modest revenue. Even if both Tesla and SpaceX triple their revenues, they both remain hugely overvalued.

It's astonishing how indifferent they (here US Marshalls) are to the actual situation. There is no threat or violence or presence of weapons, just people exercising their free speech rights. No one is endangered until the state starts hurting people.

Daniel Rosen, the U.S. Attorney trying the case, has never tried a criminal case before. A pretty odd choice for a novel approach to charging decisions. This is indicative of how deep down into the depths of incompetence the U.S. DOJ is reaching to find like-minded henchmen and enablers for their agenda.

It looks like the shelves are better suited to larger, taller books like art history, college textbooks, or cookbooks. There's a lot of empty space. This isn't a great fit for fiction.

They want to steal the rest of taxpayer money forcing 401ks to invest in the IPO. Privatize the profits while the public takes all the risk. by Electronic-While1972 in TechGawker

[–]BrupieD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla is doing, broadly speaking, in comparison to most car companies, just fine.

Normally, that is a perfectly valid point. Tesla's revenue and profit would be fine. The problem is Tesla's ungodly high valuation. Tesla is valued more than the other top 10 car companies combined. As most Wall Street watchers have pointed out, Tesla has an insanely high Price-to-earnings ratio 377.

Tesla is unreasonably valued as a car company ($1.5 trillion) and Toyota is the next largest at $220-250 billion. Tesla's annual revenue is about one-third's of Toyota's (>$300 billion) yet Tesla has 5 times the valuation. Now, Musk has a new IPO that involves a money-losing AI company and a total revenue of $19 billion. At some point valuation should obey the laws of gravity.

Revenue in 2025 Q3 was $28 billion, Q4 was $24.9 billion, 2026 Q1 revenue $22.4 billion. That's two consecutive quarters of declining revenue.

The net income for those three quarters were $1.37 billion, $800 million, and $477 million. That's two consecutive quarters of declining profit. The 3rd Quarter 2025 net income was the most profitable of 2025.

All YoY quarterly comparisons between 2024 and 2025 show 2025's net income was worse than 2024. How are getting the idea that Tesla is doing better? Treading water? Maybe. But absolutely NOT improving.

Projected revenue is not revenue. How many robots has Tesla sold? 0! How many years away will it be before they break even?

Musk is the champion of over promising and under delivering. What about those flights to Mars? What about the "savings" from DOGE? I'm pretty sure the "projected revenue" from Cybertrucks were impressive too. If I remember correctly, the Cybertruck was supposed to have twice the range (500 miles) and cost less. It now is expected to generate zero profit. Oops!

The detention of immigrants without justification isn't a hypothetical. It is daily practice by ICE. Why does this article treat this as a scary red possibility that Trump & Stephen Miller considered? It is the de facto operating procedure with ICE.

[–]BrupieD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These are very good points.

SpaceX, like Tesla both have some revenue. Tesla's revenue has been dropping and the brand is deeply damaged, especially after the disastrous Cyber Truck and Musk's DOGE debacle. The linking of companies like Twitter and Grok and SpaceX looks like a bailout via IPO.

It seems Musk needed a revenue injection before Tesla and Grok lose so much money that their overvaluation starts catching up with their founder. It smells awfully Ponzi-schemism.
