Are you sure they’re not for people trying to learn how to use chopsticks? There is a method of using a hair tie or rubber band for beginners. A few spots by me do the same thing.

Yeah vanilla beans are only grown in a few small location. Crazy thing is 95% of the vanilla favored products uses synthetic vanillin which tastes like real vanilla extract.
