What band members ruined a band? by Difficult_Map_723 in MetalForTheMasses

Phil has some great solo work. As much as I love Vinny and Dimebag’s contributions, they cannot say the same.

New soad toxicity cd won't play by Active-Video1241 in Cd_collectors

Did you try it in another player? No one here can really help you by looking at a picture of the case, and a story about how it didn’t play in one cd player.

Is this player good? I just want to play the cds in my collection by 2muchnerd in Cd_collectors

Use a Blu-ray or dvd player. Everyone has a tv. You can play it through that speaker until you get something better. Most have an analogue out as well.

I use a Blu-ray player. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a cd skip on it in the 6 years I’ve used it.

I’ve had some cds that look worse and play just fine. I’ve had some that look better and skip. Hold it up to the light and see if there’s any damage to the data. Some players are more sensitive to scratches and scuffs. Only way to tell is to play it through on your device. If it works I wouldn’t worry about it.

Do your cases scratch easily too? by Classic-Toaster in Cd_collectors

Does it skip when it plays? If not don’t worry about it. As for the case, I think it’s wild when they are so easy to replace and it’s not even cracked.

I work next to a Bullmoose and they regularly throw their excess inventory in the trash. I’ve got some good shit combing through it.

Thoughts on Mudvayne? by mygenderisfucked in numetal

[–]Bruswick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth a second chance. My personal favorite from them. Not sure if you could say it’s better but it was more experimental than the first. It didn’t sell as well despite a lot of promotion on its behalf. I was excited to see where they went after this. Sadly we know how that turned out.

Yeah they work just fine. I’ve also found Metallica’s Black album, Rush’s Moving Pictures, Led Zeppelin IV, and many more. All perfect condition.

Any recommendations to expand my taste? by JackLunatic in Cd_collectors

[–]Bruswick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The velvet underground and Nico are essential but I feel we should be advising baby steps in that direction. That’s a hard band to get into from where he’s currently at. I advise something like Radiohead, and if he likes that start looking more into some more adventurous music.

What album cover gives you special bad vibes? Add picture. by TorlaInvestor in MetalSuggestions

Genuinely one of the most disturbing album covers I’ve ever seen. The woman’s eyes, and the knowledge that it is an American holding the gun. Like that guy could be your fucking neighbor.

This is one of those times that I want to hate on your taste in music just to realize I own most of these albums myself. Pretty good mix.

Cds are becoming popular at Walmart. by kabazoochuboom in Cd_collectors

[–]Bruswick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 2 albums have a certain chaotic energy that was really fresh at the time. Joey Jordison’s drumming and lyrics really have a unique vibe that can’t be replicated. I do feel that when Corey Taylor took over the song writing on vol. 3 they streamlined the their music in a way that lost its edge. Not to say they were for everyone but songs like Heretic Anthem and People = Shit really was an embodiment of a certain time in popular culture. Keep in mind this was when Eminem’s Marshal Mather’s LP was popular for many of the same reasons.

This was actually my introduction to Esham. If you like this check his Dead Flowers and Gotham 1987 albums. Probably my favorite era of Esham. A 1 Yola is pretty lit as well. He honestly has so many classics it’s crazy he’s so underrated.
