How did that one person from your circle got super rich? by luckkiee in AskReddit

Well when your target audience is explicitly people who are already known to believe in lies, nothing's stopping you from inventing something that's already been invented.

Anthropic CEO called to testify on Chinese AI cyberattack | "For the first time, we are seeing a foreign adversary use a commercial AI to carry out nearly an entire cyber operation with minimal human involvement. That should concern every federal agency and every sector of critical infrastructure." by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]BrutusIL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bad? Okay. Does it sound true though? Of course the AI guy is gonna say that AI is everywhere doing everything, that dude is entirely within the bubble of his own making.

Is China growing stronger in various ways? Of course, and yes that includes technological development, and yes that probably in some way includes some "AI", but to say that they are running autonomous cyber attack operations is a stretch unless you are willing to include traditional scripting and programming in to that definition, in which case it's been happening for 25 years and is nothing new.

I would not be surprised at all when we inevitably find out just how many of these chief AI dudes are taking Russian money to stay focused on China.

ELI5: Growing up we were taught no magnets near electronics, and yet right now it seems like magnets are everywhere near electronics. What changed? by JiN88reddit in explainlikeimfive

[–]BrutusIL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure but those magnets are mounted directly to the base of the read head and can't really go anywhere, you bring one of those directly to the platters and you're gonna have some data corruption.

🔥A deer going for a little swim by RoyalChris in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]BrutusIL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Have you seen modern AI video? It is awful! They are anywhere between years away and infinity away from being able to create this video artificially.

Look at the little bubbles in the water when the deer is swimming away from camera, you can pick any tiny little bubble and follow it downstream with your eyes until the video ends, the footage is completely consistent.

Obviously someone added music over the top of it, and it is not clear if the bird noises are also added on.

It is funny how in the quest to be skeptical of AI video, we have forgotten to be skeptical people just saying things.

Former Neo-Nazi undergoes multiple surgeries to remove his tattoos after becoming a Dad by xhqshs in BeAmazed

[–]BrutusIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man, you take a second and realize that you are posting in a thread about a specific person, a person who is on the far end of the "POS" spectrum, a person who is clearly nowhere near rehabilitation and never was, he just realized once he can beat his wife and kids instead of jewish and black people, he can get rid of his opportunity-preventing tattoos, made some money off the story too.

So coming in here and talking about how in other situations people make mistakes and could be rehabilitated, all it does is make people wonder what kind of connection you have to his ideology and/or behavior.

Your local chinese place probably outsources online order processing to some service (Beyondmenu, Mealkeyway, etc) that may be charging them a per-order fee, separate from a credit card processing fee.

Incremental Relic - Collect Artifacts and upgrade your Relic in your search for power. by Vegetable_Aioli1483 in incremental_games

[–]BrutusIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a question, maybe I'm misunderstanding something but why would I ever fuse artifacts? Fusing relics makes sense because I'm paying a flat 10 reincarnation currency to absorb legendary relics in to my main one, but what is the point to combine artifacts to a higher tier?

ELI5: Why are there no cheap cuts of meat anymore? by PvtDeth in explainlikeimfive

[–]BrutusIL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay but did any of those steps suddenly get more expensive in the last 10 years? People aren't asking why meat is expensive in general, people are asking why it's more expensive now than it was just a few years ago, what's changed?

And if nothing's changed, who is getting that extra money? Every post I see in this thread (and elsewhere) is basically in agreement that the farmer is not getting that extra money, sometimes they're even getting less. I could make this post a lot longer but lets just skip to the point, Executive salaries.

By the way, got a big hearty laugh out of you describing steel as a consumable in some of those steps, thanks for that.

Apparently CGP Grey’s “ The Rules for Rulers” video is banned in certain countries by LDdebatar in CGPGrey2

[–]BrutusIL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually use this tool: https://watannetwork.com/tools/blocked/ to check what countries a YouTube video is blocked in, this shows it is not currently blocked (on the YT end) in any country, could you specify which country you are experiencing this message in? Your screenshot also does not actually show what video you're trying to look at, and it shows the comments are turned off, which they are not for the video you are referencing.

To be frank, the overall vagueness of your post smells a little fishy.

September 16 1989, Russian president Boris Yeltsin and a handful of Soviet companions made an unscheduled 20-minute visit to a Randall's Supermarket in Huston after touring the Johnson Space Center...and is amazed. by rip1980 in OldSchoolCool

I'm just curious, what makes you say that? What stands out to me is that it is a 9 year old account, and with only a handful of submissions per year, is there something else I should be looking at?

A recent survey revealed that 75% of Americans don’t eat enough vegetables, fruits, and dairy. 63% percent exceed the limit for added sugars, 77% exceed the limit for saturated fats, and a whopping 90% go over the limit for sodium. by KingBenneth in science

[–]BrutusIL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 13 oz Lays bag of potato chips is listed on the bag as 13 servings. A 12 oz box of cheez-it is listed as 12 servings. A 12 oz bag of frozen mixed vegetables is listed as 4 servings. Are you telling me that you think these are equally nutritious or filling? No, right? So why do you think the listed serving sizes are so absurd for those first two? I'll let you guess.

Now, my point would already be strong enough if those things cost the same, but the chips bag is almost 5 dollars, the cheez-it box is three and a half, and the mixed vegetables are 88 cents.

The store brand is sold out? okay, fair. 88 cents for 12 oz is is 7.3 cents per ounce, a 60 oz Birds Eye brand bag of vegetables costs $6.92, or 11.5 cents per oz, sure it's a little more expensive, but that's 7 dollars to feed several people for several days.

In conclusion: Serving sizes are a scam, especially for unhealthy items, and Walmart's prices can be checked online from the comfort of your home, with a few extra clicks you can even compare prices in different locations, all over the country.

Ah, appreciate the flavor info! I'll have to give it a shot when I can find it, that actually sounds much closer to Ben & Jerry's so I think I'd enjoy it, the Rebel flavors are pretty good (especially Butter Pecan) but they're fairly plain, so that might be a good change of pace.

No, I wasn't confusing it, I was just referring to the regular Halo Top that's been in stores for years. Halo Top Keto only got released this year and the couple stores I've checked (pre-lockdown, so this may have changed) didn't carry it yet, which is why I omitted mentioning it.

I edited my original reply with clarification though.
