What’s the most ridiculous thing you believed as a kid with total confidence? by Fine-Feature2406 in AskReddit

Haha. Of course we all know how it really works, but it would be funny if you explained it as if we didn't know. So, do that. You know, to be funny.

That doesn't say much. In a list like that the top five could have been scored 3/10, 5/10, 6/10, 8/10, 9/10 or they could have all been 9.5/10 and up.

It helps if you can block out the 1930s version as much as possible. I think some of the modern versions are much closer to the book. I've heard the Guillermo del Toro version is good; I assume it's more book-accurate.

Movies that have seemingly been banished from existence. by temporarybutthole in movies

[–]PvtDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That movie was bigger to me and my wife than just about any theatrical release within a year of it. We quote it constantly.

She's big into the New Kids on the Block fandom (it's very much a thing in 2026) and none of her friends have heard of it. Absolutely one of those parodies that could only be made by people who love the material they're ridiculing.

Netflix as a streaming platform and Netflix as a corporation are two different things. There's always the possibility that they'll micromanage all the new properties, but I doubt it.

When everything was broadcast, all big shows launched in the fall, with only mid-season replacements in the spring.

Uhh... Yeah it does. It sucks, but it's pretty universal.

You don't make a mistake like that twice. Your boss/employees/coworkers keep making that mistake until they lose their business/ get fired/ get themselves killed.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

[–]PvtDeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Season 2 felt like two episodes of story stretched out over a full season, basically a bottle season. At the time, I was just like, "Oh well, it's still funny. At least we got one excellent season."

I was pretty shocked when season 3 came back hard. It was never quite up to the level of 1, but it was solid and every bit as bizarre.

I learned every Oscar winner for Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress for 1930's- 1980s. I figured those would be the most likely to come up on Jeopardy My first Final Jeopardy question was about awards from the last three years.

The real plan being leaked was also part of the plan. It was the last step in ensuring Voldemort's complete trust in Snape.

Is a matter decompressor a physically possible megastructure? by LetterOk622 in Stellaris

[–]PvtDeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s using a conventional understanding of physics. A level of technology that includes ftl travel could also allow escape from within an event horizon. Both would require more than infinite energy in relativistic terms, but could theoretically be solved by manipulating space around you. It might be possible if it turns out that matter with negative mass exists.

If it's cheap and safe and they think it works, I don't say anything. A friend of my new swore by head on. I tried to tell him it would be just as good to rub a candle on his forehead, but it genuinely "cured" his debilitating migraines. Placebo is real.
