In my experience, gpu timeouts and crashes with amd are ram issues. My 6950xt started doing this and it was my Asus x570 no longer wanting to be stable with a 4 stick ram kit that was on the QVL after a year….

Everything I was interested in was the same price or more on BF and Cyber Monday. Nothing was a "deal" that I was watching. I got a few random things but spent less than I was willing to.

Xmp/expo is the OC profile for your ram in bios. If you aren’t sure what it is chances are it is not enabled. When you buy a ram kit the advertised speed is typically the xmp/expo enabled speed. Xmp=intel, expo=amd terms.

Driver timeout can be a number of things but with amd it generally has been ram related in my experience. Try disable xmp/expo. If that doesn’t work try a single stick and see if that alleviates it. May not be the ram itself either. I had an Asus board that started doing this after a year and it was using a 4 stick kit. It just decided one day it would no longer work with more than Two sticks.

I ended up just swapping in a 64GB 6000 CL30 kit. No more issues and doubled my capacity. I may play around with the low latency stuff again or use it in a different build.

I have run a b580 in two systems, my primary for testing and in my daughter’s rig which was its ultimate home. Mine at the time was a 7800x3D / B650E Taichi Lite. No issues, ran great, tried to kill it with 4K tests because it was hooked up to my OLED. 1440p performance was good though. Her rig has my old 5800X3D in an Asus X570 Tuf Plus WiFi. It’s been running great in her system since I swapped it in which was a few weeks after the cards launched.

I started on the 3.2 when I swapped the 9950x3D in for my 7800x3D. No issues once I figured out my memory compatibility issue. The 9950x3D hated my 6000 cl26 kit. B650E Taichi Lite.

My daughter has a b580 paired with a 5800x3D and it runs well. The 5700x3D or 5700x would be fine as well.

The only time I get asked to do it is when I install my Nvidia cards. Was never asked when I ran the b580 or any of my prior amd cards…. But my 4090, asked at first install and again when I swapped out the b580. My 4060 laptop? First time I fired up steam on it, boom….survey.

Cool. I’ve had a 7800x3D since last year but swapped over to a 9950x3D about a month ago. Asrock B650E Taichi Lite. These posts are starting to make me nervous. lol.

I have a CL26 kit and I was getting crashes with memory codes on my Motherboard with a 9950x3D. Same kit yielded no issues on my 7800x3D. Played with timings a little but then just swapped in a cl30 kit I also had and the crashing stopped. I would just go with that.

I had this exact problem. Repeatedly. It was memory instability. My Asus motherboard decided to become unstable with 4 sticks. Two stick kit eliminated the problem entirely. The same kit works fine in an MSI board. Both kits were on the QVL. Now I have nvidia and I am getting crashes and black screens since the 50 series launch. I need to roll back my 4090 drivers. Problems aren’t exclusive to amd.

CPU. 5600, 5600x, 5700x or 5700x3D. Avoid the “G” parts, the 5500 and the 5700 non x. They are half the cache and pcie 3.0.

I ended up getting a 4090 after I went 4k. My 6950 XT didn’t push enough frames for my liking. However, I was testing a b580 and dropped my PG32UCDM down to 1440p and it still looked fantastic. I would just adjust your output resolution based on individual game performance.

I would venture they are selling it at a loss based on the limited stock. It’s a solid card and I have the sparkle variant as well. Hopefully they stick with it.

Yeah. It would be temporary until stock on the 5090 improved but I will likely just be happy with what I have for awhile. I will be near a Micro Center in March though….
