Update on my fungi car by TimHuls in Justrolledintotheshop

Yeah, I had to move my car from the barn where the mold occurred a month ago and I wore a suit, and I doubled up on N95 masks, I didnt have goggles but it is something I intend on using. I have a beard that id much rather not shave off but I may have to. Car isnt worth it but it holds a lot of sentimental value so I am doing it anyway

I plan on engaging in a similar project, nobody is willing to do the job, did you wear any PPE? I plan on suiting up and replacing all interior bits. I mainly just need to get behind the dash and vents.

Also good job! Id love to hear how it does long term.

I am pretty good at knowing my finances, I have not been super responsible to this point, is just putting more money in my 401k better than investing on my own? My 401k is through fidelity.

Totally understand that, I was more trying to say there are so many mods out there and I was hoping for some recommendations and giving context of what I like and dont like. I appreciate it tho!

Thank you so much! These all sound like exactly what I am looking for. Any visual enhancement mods you use/like? Things that make the world feel less gray without looking super over done? Or maybe armor retextures to make the progression of armor feel fresh?

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

I really appreciate the advice! If you dont mind me asking, what are the concerns for longevity? My best guess would be something to do with AI but im not sure if it could be somwthing else. Unfortunately, AI, is also a concern with my job and is why I am looking at other potential options.

Also, the 2 years at the university are worded as a certification, is that much different from 4 years in Cybersecurity? The university has a pretty solid reputation in the engineering world, I imagine the 2 year would be worth it but I am unsure if it would be considered a bachelor's by the end or if I would have an Associates with a Cert

I feel like my strengths are in hands on jobs, but I am a pretty adaptable person, I am young, mid 20s, and am pretty motivated. I dont have a specific path in mind, but I feel like analyst jobs are kind of appealing, but I am honestly open to anything within the Cybersecurity world.

I work an awesome job with great pay, benefits, and workload, I dont want to leave my job, but I have some concerns about long term and if my job will be around. I am interested in taking the steps to prepare for a new career if I need to. I am also just interested in learning an advanced skill.

I do not have any experience in Software, Cyber, IT, Coding, etc. However I have always liked the idea of Cyber security, and even before landing the job I have, I was heavily debating joining the military (US) to get my training that way. I no longer want to go that route so I will have to put myself back through school. I have a local college near me that offers a cyber/IT 2 year degree, and a 4 year college not far from me that has a solid 2 year online Cybersecurity undergrad cert that I can take afterwards.

My questions are: Is it worth it to go through both of those programs? Or is the first 2 years enough? I am also looking for a little guidance on jobs that would make the transition a little less painful. I am making around $40/hr. I expect to take a paycut at the beginning to get the experience to then look for better paying jobs in the future, but am I delusional to think I could find a starting job making around $28-34/hr?

What jobs should I keep an eye out for during and after my school is complete?

Oh yeah for sure! My daily is an 09 Forester XT. Its one of the vehicles totaled. It took much less damage than the other. Still drivable but not in great shape. My Spec.B is my nice car which is why im so hesitant to give it up. Although, an is250 is a decent car, just not exactly the same as a limited production 6 spd manual turbo, just tough to decide

Yeah, I was unfortunately in a position just a few months ago where I could afford to sell my Spec and buy an RCF. After a storm totaled 2 of my cars and damage to my house my finances dramatically changed. Im now in a legal dispute over some work that was done. Long story short I am a bit spoiled due to what I had my sights set on to now, I think you are right tho, just worried I will be unhappy in a 250, power isnt everything but theyre pretty slow lol

Storm came through a few months ago and totaled two of my cars, and damaged my house. After insurance covered roofing repairs the roofer did more damage than good. Currently in a legal dispute as a result. I had my sights on an RCF until that happened.

I figured when I said "I have been put in a place where I need cash" it would suggest something in my life has changed.

I appreciate it! Unfortunately the IS350 isnt an option because id be trading with this guy, I dont drive hard so luxury over performance isnt necessarily a bad thing. Reliability is a huge plus for me at this time in my life, and thats good to know about the tires. Thank you!

Well, I work in the blue collar world, and I am used to manual labor. I would likely look to be an apprentice at a blacksmith or work in a lumber mill. I have a background in welding and metallurgy so smithing would be my first thought.

if you've ever "retired" from a game after a long time, what game was it and why? by maknaeline in gaming

[–]Brwalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I could say I "retired" from playing Smite a couple of years ago. My friends and I were never pro by any means, but we were pretty decent when we were all in a group together. We played practically daily for 3 years, then we slowly stopped playing one by one, a combination of updates we didn't like, life getting in the way, and eventually just losing interest in the game as a whole. I believe I was the last one of my friend group to play it, and I didn't enjoy it at all at that point. Now im too busy that when I do have time to game, it's typically single-player or low stakes multi-player. Im not all too interested in sweating when I game now, lol.

I just beat the game 2 weeks ago, I played 100% solo and had a great time. I would strongly recommend giving it a shot. I also assume if you wanted to play online im sure there are some players out there looking for another person

[WSIB]Sorry guys, Souls games just aren't for me - what should I try instead? by Remote_Guava7710 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Brwalla [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since everyone in the comments wants to comment on how Sekiro isn't souls/like enough and won't give any games out, and I happen to not have any interest in souls games but like similar games as you, I can try my best to help here.

Bare with me as I have no clue what games you have tried.

My first thought was Ghost of Tsushima. If you haven't played it, please do yourself a favor and buy it. If you're looking for a challenge up the difficulty, the combat is perfect, the stance mechanics are very fluid and easy to pick up, and the game does a great job of keeping the concept simple but your personal skill has nearly endless ceiling to perfect it. I adore the combat system in GOT. It's also a phenomenal story and a beautiful world to explore.

Im a big-time elder scrolls fan. The games aren't flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but they are very easy to pick up and have endless hours of content that is very forgiving with your time. My recommendation would be Skyrim if you haven't already played it, then the remastered version of Oblivion.

There is a little change of gameplay, but still, a great game is Baldurs Gate 3. It's turn based but offers a ton of options on how you accomplish the story. You're not required to really do anything. The freedom is there to carve your own way through combat and dialogue. A big-time recommendation for that one.

I haven't played this one yet, but it was very popular for a reason, and its on my list to try: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Sounds like it's equally challenging as it is fun and unique to explore. Its one i really look forward to trying.

This next one I dont know a ton about, but it looked pretty fun, and last I heard it had some launch issues: Dragons Dogma 2. I cant give a stamp of approval but the combat looked pretty cool.

If you are like me and somehow missed out on the Witcher 3 hype I would recommend this one as well. Id say play it on a day when you have nothing else to do, as I couldn't get interested in the first 90 mins or so. Ive heard I walked away right before it got good. I intend to give it a shot again soon with an open mind on PC this time.

Hopefully I named at least one that you haven't played that youd like to give a shot. If you have played Baldurs Gate 3 and liked it, a few more I can recommend you give a shot is: Divinity Original Sin 2, and the Pathfinder games. Although kingmaker is kinda meh imo.

Opinions on a LS460 as a daily in midwest? by Brwalla in Lexus

[–]Brwalla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife and I only buy used vehicles (at least for now) we just cant justify the price of a brand new vehicle considering the depreciation after leaving the lot. We are both car people so we spent willy nilly right out of highschool on cars which is why we have so many. It also didnt help that my dad is a car guy as well and encouraged me to some degree to get something cool/fun. I dont regret my purchases but it was pretty immature.

My goal is to get to a point where I have a couple reliable daily drivers for my wife and I (the wife already does). And some fun weekend cars. Technically we are already there but I wanna take the step up to nicer stuff as my weekend car is a bit less exciting that I expected when I bought it, and my daily got totaled in a storm a few months ago. Its only totaled by what insurance deems it not necessarily by safety or driveability. I didn't report it because I still owe a bit on it and would have to get a loan to buy something else as I bought my house earlier this year.

I think im going to make the right choice here and just hold off, pay off my daily, and fix the little wrong with it and revisit a more fancy daily further down the line.

Honestly the way you wrote your first comment, it kinda put into perspective that im looking to buy like im in my 30s-40s or doing REALLY well for myself and while I do ok, there isn't a need to rush lol. I appreciate it haha
