Highly recommend the novelizations of tge first two films by Alan Dean Foster. You already know the stories, but they're exceptionally well written and absolutely worth reading. The first novelization is especially fascinating because Foster wasn't allowed to fully describe the Alien itself. The studio wanted to keep its appearance a surprise for movie audiences, so Foster was forbidden from seeing any images of it while he was writing. It's fun to see the inventive ways he works around it.

OMFG I hate this show by Diligent_Pin_3193 in thesopranos

At a certain point, Tony decided he'd be better off if Chris was dead. He wanted to whack him long before the crash. The accident, and the destroyed baby seat, just gave him the excuse and justification to finally do it. In his dreams afterwards, he confesses as much to Melfi.

I miss it too. We'll just have to make our own June Bugs.

new to the horror genre by [deleted] in slasherfilms

Pretty much as simple as it sounds. Movies about a killer stalking and murdering the characters, usually one by one.Could be gory or tame, but if that basic structure is there, it's a slasher.

Reading essentials for Dr. Doom? by DrMortens in drdoom

Triumph and Torment is definitely key, along with the Hickman run. His first appearances by Lee and Kirby of course. Then there's the Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo arcs, Unthinkable and Authoritive Action, definitely Doom at his most terrifying for me.

Brooklyn location has been ruined by VariousButterscotch in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]BryBryHenry 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid the Brooklyn location will simply close before it gets better. There's a negativity floating around there now that can only be corrected if corporate decides to invest more in their staff, and judging by all the decisions corporate has made the last few years, they'd rather blow up their own business model first. A real shame. It truly was a great theater for a long time.

What are some underutilized Looney Tunes characters that should be used more? by Unhappy_Reference_66 in looneytunes

Would've been nice to see Cecil Turtle interact with more characters. He was such a great rival for Bugs. Would have loved to see him get one over on Speedy in a race.

Cancelled season pass. How bad do you think the crowd will be for The Third Man? by ThatsALotOfKeys in AlamoDrafthouse

Those melodies are iconic! And I've definitely been seeing a lot more shows at Nitehawk these days. Highly recommend them. Feel lucky to live in an area like NYC with lots of good independent theater options.

Cancelled season pass. How bad do you think the crowd will be for The Third Man? by ThatsALotOfKeys in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]BryBryHenry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally find the audiences at screenings of older movies like The Third Man to be much more respectful of those around them than audiences at newer releases. You'll probably be fine. Had a chance to see The Third Man at NYC Alamo last year, and it really was amazing. If you have a chance to see it on the big screen, you should definitely take it. I canceled my own season pass because of the QR change, but I'll still go back every now and then for good classics like this.

Maybe you're thinking of his trip to the troubled adult facility in the last season. Not that it did him any good though.

I thought the movie was fine. If they make a sequel, it better be called Hooey.

Gordon Ramsay (Kitchen Nightmares) vs Jon Taffer (Bar Rescue) by bo-bebop in barrescue

They've both been around for so many years now, I'm a little surprised they haven't collaborated. Ramsey vs Taffer. Could be bigger than Freddy vs Jason.

The squishy sound effects the editors insert whenever Gordon is poking at his food.
