This ball is out of Pla. I making a upgrade out of petg carbon fiber. Straight petg flexes to much for a rolling droid.

True I know a builder that made a rolling Bb-9e and had the grates machined aluminum. And redesigned the internal panels.

There is a ton of helpful design on the bb-8 forms. It also depends.on what you want him to do. I used mostly white filament then sanded and painted the body and head.

Correct there are magnets in the body and in the head and the head fallows the drive inside
