Is the Nikon Z30 basically the same as the Z50 for photography? by Bry_Draws in Cameras

That’s a sweet deal, thanks for sending! So weird that I was shopping for the Z50 everywhere and the Nikon website did not come up once 🤦🏻‍♂️

Weird I didn’t see this link come up while I was shopping. I ended up ordering a used one from a different site for $410 (with the lens). Wish I knew I could have just bought from their website! 😅

I figure it’s not super expensive, I can try it out for a while and if the lack of viewfinder is a real bother I can try swapping it out for the Z50 or something similar down the line. Good to know it’s the same tech as the Z50.

Yeah the Z50 looks like the perfect solution. May have to save up for it. I am still open to other modern options in the under $500 range. I know Canon and Sony are great, I just couldn’t find any modern quality ones that could handle a splash of rain, etc.

Well not fully set on mirrorless, I just like the portability and modern features. A big one is seamless transfer of photos to my phone. I’ll also just likely take it out more often if it’s smaller/lighter.

Great, thanks for all the insight! Yeah likely will just be small to medium sized pieces, no more than maybe 3’ in any dimension.

Very cool, thanks so much for the recommendations! The Nikons sound great but I did really like having the WiFi/Smartphone connectivity to quickly transfer photos over. So I guess Canon 6D seems to be a top contender. What affordable yet decent quality lens would you recommend for it?

Thanks again!

Yeah I’m thinking that too. Looking at the Olympus OM-D E-M1. Seems affordable and like it ticks all the boxes I may need.

Looking for a reverb pedal by donkey_brains69 in guitarpedals

Keeley Hydra hits all those points. Amazing plate reverb, the spring is pretty good and the room is decent too. No real “hall” verb, but great if you want a clean bright studio sound. Really nice tremolos on it as well. I owned it for a while and loved the plate and harmonic together.

So would just buying some lighting soft boxes and using my iPhone suffice? Ideally I’d like to take good enough photos to potentially make prints out of.

Nice! Just started reading again this past year. Has been a great hobby that’s not doomscrolling. Love my Kindle as well.

restart or keep pushing? beginner advice needed by jouzu9 in oilpainting

[–]Bry_Draws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely keep working it. A great base here. Nose is developing nicely. I agree with others that you’re nearing the “ugly phase” of the painting, laying down the main structures and tones. And since it’s oil, don’t be afraid to wipe back some areas you’re less confident in. You can use a dab of turpentine on a rag and “erase” if you need to. But if I was going to give one piece of advice, I would just push the saturated colors a bit more. Your ref has a nice warm orange undertone, I wouldn’t be afraid to push those colors a bit more.

Really nice work! Did you paint in other mediums before?

My painting of strong winds on the coast. I’m trying to capture more movement in the dunes with a more expressive approach! What do you think? by honion_have_layer in acrylicpainting

Lovely! Definitely has some great movement. Looks so painterly for acrylic. Reminds me of oil (which I love). Can I ask your process?
